It's not often that you can go from the TA thread to here, but this is one of those rare occasions.

Planned obsolescence. I've a combination oven that I got from LIDL 11 years ago, the plate has stopped turning but other than that it still works well.

Well, guess what?! I've just tried heating up mug of water: the plate is turing normally! I guess the last whopper of a cake I baked last must've been too heavy for it. Yippee!!! I can still bake!

Somebody just sent me a video from electric picnic and by gum I've never been happier to be sitting at home with absolutely no requirements to pretend to be a social animal. I've got chicken in the oven and will be in bed by ten. Aaaah.

I'm an introvert and love my quiet space, he's an extrovert and loves the noise. If ever there was an each to their own moment haha.

Quietly laughing at American's turn of phrase.

Gave the American Cousin, and his American wife a lift on a Dublin outing. While I was walking out of the hallway of my parents house to go home, she shouts enthusiastically from the kitchen "Thanks for the ride!!!"

I paused for a second (Don't laugh out loud, don't laugh out loud) "Eh yeah…. no bother….."

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Delighted I'm at home relaxing with my G & T rather than stuck in the hell of EP in this weather!

No doubt in work on Monday they will be raving about best weekend ever.

Nope, I wont be buying it.

Went on a mad dash late last night looking for a recipe of my dad that seems to have been lost. I clearly remember having it in one of my notes apps but I couldn't find it anywhere. I couldn't find any images in my dad's old file servers either, although they should have been there. Needless to say, I was pretty distraught as it was one of my favourite recipes.

Well, at around 1.20 AM, I stumbled across a recipe on a private blog that was essentially that very same recipe, right down to the look. It had clearly been written by someone else, but everything checked out. Naturally, I was extactic, I've saved the recipe, and I plan to head down memory lane and cook it next weekend 😋

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Misplaced the charging cable off my new electric razor which I have only a few weeks. Ordered a new cable online that’s due to be delivered in the next hour or two. But doing a cleanup now whilst waiting for the courier I found the missing cable. Not a TA as the new cable was only €10.80 and it’s handy to have a spare in case I do lose it…

I had a TH the other night watching the Irish Traitors when one of the missions involved Ogham and the Irish language. One of the contestants thought she had solved one of the clues, but in moment of clarity, I said to myself "No, 'ulchabhán' means 'owl'. I don't know where that came from. 😄

A different wan worked out for a different clue that the first letter was 'c' and the last was 'n', so the answer was 'caisleán' (castle). The Ogham word only had 5 characters so I guessed it must be 'crann' for 'tree'.

2 out of 2. 😎 Not bad, considering they weren't showing the viewers much information.

Had a bit of a damage control job to do in the kitchen today. See TA thread for details.

The TH part comes from a storage ottoman I bought way back in 2022. I was supposed to keep my leg up after emergency surgery on an infected knee, and decided to drop into Homesense after an aftercare appointment at the hospital to see if they had something that could help me. They did, but that ottoman had been waiting for a purpose ever since the end of my outpatient treatment. Until today, during that damage control job to get my washer dryer back working. I just love it when something seemingly surplus comes in handy like that!

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

On the topic of reusing, when we got new broadband, we got a new free landline(needed for the alarm anyway). The length of the cord between the phone and the modem is inches, which makes the phone useless, as anyone using it would have an audience every time they pick it up.

Th a sleepless night reminded me that there were long cords that do the job, and I knew where the spare one was. Just set it up, phone works in a more private area, and the cord winds up into a tidy enough ball when not needed.

Tesco having a clear out on men's grooming products, good brands in the sector for an 89% discount(approx). I hear the Christmas wrapping calling to house these products.

The mother got back driving from today after about 6 months as a passenger following fracturing her arm… she is delighted that she has her freedom back… doesn’t now have to wait for lifts. And with a tonne of good cause, she hates my Dad driving… 💀🙈

went through my wardrobe to see what I have and what I’ll need for the winter. Not much evidently. One thing that I noticed was apart from winter stuff loads of my everyday casual summer T-shirts are worn / faded so I think I’ll take the opportunity to replace about 6/7 of those instead… get them in the sale now as opposed to paying full whack next March or whenever.

It felt a bit cooler going to work this morning so when I got in, I checked the local temperature on my work computer:

I'm spending the day at my sister's house while she's on holiday to keep her cats company. One has snuggled up beside me and is very content. Purring away.

That's way to hot for a quantum computer. Milikelvins or bust.

The best description I've heard of them so far is "science project". Excluding simulations and theoretical papers have they actually found the prime factors of numbers above 35 ( 3x7) yet ?

There must be a Quantum-blockchain-with-AI thingy out there by now looking for investors.

Yesterday I called the customer service number of a company. Not only did they not faff about with the usual privacy T&Cs (I'm paranoid about stuff like that, but I also know from experience that most businesses are not compliant in that regard because as soon as you ask them a question or want to exercise your rights they don't know the first thing about it), not only did they not even ask for my name, but someone answered within literally 3 seconds of the phone ringing, the lady enunciated every word very precisely, stressing all the consonants (which I thought was quite funny), she was clear and precise in her explanation, but the thing that had me in stitches was that, after I'd thanked her, she very professionally replied, "Thank YOU for calling, have a lovely day, hugs." Hugs?!? Oh, how I laughed!

I've a kiddo in their bedroom listening to a remixed version of Chris Isaaks Wicked Games and The Eagles Hotel California.

Makes me very proud to hear they’re broadening their musical horizons to explore new sounds ☺️

happy as this big clothing order that was due tomorrow, in fact was delivered this evening. Very happy too as everything is a perfect fit, great quality. Put away the T-shirts until next summer as I’ve more than enough to get by for now….

My brother’s little girl {7 yo). Great girl mannerly etc, but sometimes pouts when she tries to get what she wants. So my brother has a great trick, he takes a photo of her pouting. And shows her the photo She stops pouting fairly quickly then!
