You claim to be against genocide, but I have not seen you condemn pro-Palestine protesters and their calls for the total destruction of Israel.

Interesting piece from Haaretz. Seems even the US is sick to death of the warmongers and alleged War Criminal #1 (at large).

Though said alleged War Criminal will still be as obsequious as usual.

"On Monday, the U.S. president and the Israeli prime minister will embrace and praise each other, something Netanyahu needs in the upcoming election campaign.

But behind them looms the next challenge, the termination of America's military aid to Israel.

Netanyahu understands that the aid is now viewed as toxic in Washington…his challenge will now be to decrease this aid gradually and not lose it in one fell swoop, certainly not before an election.

This is one more reason for the sycophancy he will lavish on the president, even though the guest has humiliated him by stopping the war before the 'total elimination' of Hamas"

Do you accept Sean that Israel has used booby trapped devices to kill and maim people, including children, or is that another anti semitic blood libel?

Is it your assertion that they have now stopped using booby trapped items to kill people?

I condemn anyone who calls for the complete destruction of Israel - I have, from day one, been very clear on that as you well know.

You can try and goad as much as you like - won't work because my position has been and is very clear and transparent to anyone who reads my posts.

Just like everyone who reads your posts is very clear on exactly where you stand.

Yes - that poster does because that was the source they posted in the last day or so.

Seems they didn't read it - embarrassing.

So that includes "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free" which is chanted regularly at most if not all pro-Palestine rallies?

Well that’s been well covered by lots of posters on here, can you not see that what you are calling for is exactly the same except you have a modern very well equipped army that is committing genocide on the Palestinians.

Except it hasn't really been covered - mostly I've seen evasions and whataboutery. IIRC only one poster has addressed the point directly.

Why is it that 95% of all casualties are Palestinians?

    Oh yeah, genocide.

Update on recovery of corpses from the rubble.

    GAZA HEALTH MINISTRY:

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported the recovery of 117 bodies from various parts of the Strip in the past 24 hours.

The total number of victims since October 7, 2023, has risen to 67,806 martyrs and 170,066 wounded as a result of the Israeli assault.

Collaborators murder a journalist but this time they may face justice.

Renowned Palestinian journalist Saleh al-Jaafarawi was martyred on Sunday after being killed by Israeli collaborators in Gaza while preparing a news report.

According to local sources, al-Jaafarawi was shot while working on Street 8, south of Gaza City, as he documented the situation in the area following recent developments on the ground. Witnesses said he had been preparing a report when armed members of a clan collaborating with the Israeli occupation opened fire, killing him instantly.

For the past two years, al-Jaafarawi has been a prominent voice in the coverage of the Israeli war on Gaza, documenting atrocities and exposing war crimes to international audiences. His reporting became widely recognized for highlighting the human suffering, destruction, and resilience of the Palestinian people.

Do you actually have a comment on the post I made or is it just your normal rhetoric

    I wouldn't call 3% a genocidal figure but then I don't support Hamas.

I must have missed the news bulletin that it doesn't call for the genocide of the Jewish People. The people singing it must be the only ones to believe that version of the chant because Hamas believe it means genocide

Is the UN "Hamas" ?- Is Amnesty international, Human Rights Watch, Trocaire, B'tselem, Oxfam, Phyisicans for Human Rights, International Association of Genocide Scholars, Medicine sans frontieres, Jewish Voice For Peace, Christian Aid?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,120 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

So if you are opposed to a chant that you interpret as calling for genocide then are you also opposed to what genocide scholars and UN experts declare as actual genocide?

Every time I check into this thread I see the same posts from you, it's the "I know you are but what am I?" of posting.

    This is what he says!

That is a "chant" - just like the Likud mantra. Both Israel and Palestine should be free, safe and secure.

I condemn anyone that wants to wipe out anyone else.

Currently, there is only one belligerent committing genocide.

Do you condemn Israel for killing out tens of thousands of Gazan civilians?

Do you condemn the Likud charter that states "from the Jordan to the sea there shall be Israeli sovereignty"?

    It is almost unanimous

    But not unanimous.

And with the shifting goalpost of defining genocide as anything Israel do, it will never be. How can be a genocide when numbers doesn't matter? What kind of genocide is that where the number of victims is way smaller than usual for a conflict of this scope, and what kind of genocide is that where the population that's supposedly subjected to genocide increases?

I can explain: political and peer pressure, and antisemitism.

The genocide scholars are not redefining genocide. The population of gaza hardly increased during the 2 yr conflict. At this stage the apologists for israels actions are becoming more desperate in their arguments. If Bibi wasn't in fear of international law he would go to the Hague but I suspect he and his supporters know he will be found guilty of war crimes.

Genocide can include forced displacement of a people and deliberate destruction of their housing and infrastructure - this demonstrably has happened in Gaza.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,445 ✭✭✭Cordell

And it has happened in virtually every war - and when every war is called a genocide the real meaning gets devalued.

Ukrainian war has seen more people displaced than the entire population of Gaza and more deaths, by orders of magnitude, and yet it's not called a genocide, and rightly so, because it isn't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,822 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

Hard to know who to side with , the international association of genocide scholars or those arguing against it on boards.Difficult one, for sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,445 ✭✭✭Cordell

How about using your own brain and conscience?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,822 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

I'm using my brain to go with the experts on this topic rather than some biased poster on boards. That you even appeal to my conscience on this matter like this shows you don't know what you are talking about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,482 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Name a recent war where virtually every building in the country was destroyed and the entire civilian population was displaced? This didn't even happen with Nazi Germany.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,134 ✭✭✭Ardillaun

Yes, that’s a chant that can be interpreted as threatening Israel but how much more serious, then, is action that obliterated the possibility of a Palestinian state? Let’s remember that Likud has been doing that since it put similar words into its original party platform in 1977:

The Right of the Jewish People to the Land of Israel (Eretz Israel)

    a. The right of the Jewish people to the land of Israel is eternal and indisputable and is linked with the right to security and peace; therefore, Judea and Samaria will not be handed to any foreign administration; between the Sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty.

I’m not sure I would use the word genocide myself, which may reflect an outdated view on my part, but what I do know is that Israel has moved heaven and earth to conceal what it has been up to. Foreign journalists are urgently needed in Gaza and all journalists must up their game within Israel itself as well especially among the drone operators, snipers and other potential killers of civilians in the IDF. Not all of them can be untroubled by what they did and saw. I haven’t seen any American pols asked about foreign journos yet. That should be a constant question.
