Some sources though, say that: 1–2 insulators: Low voltage (220–380 V)
3–5 insulators: Medium voltage (10–30 kV)
6–12 insulators: Higher voltage (60–110 kV)
12–20 insulators: High voltage (220–275 kV)
More than 20 insulators: Extra-high voltage (400 kV and above)
But this is only an approximate indicator, not an exact rule.
Required number of insulators also depends on:
Climate/humidity (rain, snow).
Pollution (dust, salt near the sea).
Type of insulator (porcelain, glass, or polymer).
So, the number of insulators can be used as a general guide to estimate the line voltage, but it is not an accurate calculation.
Size and shape of pylons/poles may also help:
