    Took long enough

Its a pity about him as Lostprophets were a good band and the other band members suffered

Hopefully he victims are happy right now

Pity Ian Huntley and Gary Glitter are still knocking about

Probably going to say something unpopular, judging by the comment here, but,

I did not want him killed in prison. He should have his crime hang over him like a life sentence upon release. Death is too easy a way out and makes a mockery of the justice system as well as questions about safety in prisons.

He should have served his time, then be shunned by all around him. A living warning to anyone else who would dare act the way he did.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

    "Our justice system" ?

The man was raping 2 year old and showed no remorse. Nothing was hanging over this sick fuk.

Meant 'the' justice system. Will change. Cheers

He will go down in history for the monster he is. Everyone would hound him and be sickened by him until the end of his life. He should never know a moments peace. Think it would have served as visual warning to other potential offenders that this fate awaits perpetrators and could have acted as a deterrent. I just think death is too easy.

To be honest, I think people who do such atrocities to kids wouldn't give a flying f.u.c.k what way other people see them or think of them, they're sick in the head, would probably enjoy the attention. People, kids being the most, are better off with him in the ground rather than a cushy number in prison.

Seems to me they are perfectly compatible.

Wakefield is a Category A prison, murderers and nonces. And many of the murderers are also nonces.

Watkins could have kept himself away from the risk of being murdered by a murderer, by not raping children.

You seriously think the sick peadophile was going to care about his crime hanging over him?

That guy was going to be released in a few years, and I have zero doubt he would have been a further danger to children from that point on.

One less child will be assaulted because of what happened today.

Never wished death on anyone but absolutely delighted with this news, also so happy that the last 13yrs of his life he's been looking over his shoulder and has been beaten and stabbed on numerous occasions.

What he did was absolutely vile and sickening.

I feel so sorry for his bandmates, their career was over, people always saying "How did they not know"

    Burn in hell Watkins

True. He wouldn't have cared. He had no remorse whatsoever. So he was given 35 years but would be elegible for release after serving two thirds of his sentence. As you say he was could well have offended again upon release .

All I feel sorry for is the staff and all the hassle and paper work they'll have to do.

I was reading how he received love letters from women for years. A fine example of the black pill. You don't need to be a good person to attract women.

Have to wonder what is going on in the mind of someone who rapes children.

Fran / Love Hate pool cue stuff for the rest of his life would have been better.

I think there is a lot more to the general story then we know.

He was targeted repeatedly and was hospitalised before after being attacked.

Yeah I get it, sickos like him are shunned in prison, but it's rare that someone in a UK prison, especially with his fame, be targeted repeatedly until the job is done.

The whole story is absolutely crazy. He was doing what he was doing and not even making huge efforts to hide it yet it went on for years at the height of his fame, the guy was even uploading depraved videos of himself to public websites.

His PC password was "I fuk kidz" and when asked why he did the depraved things he did he said "for the mega lols".

How he slipped under the radar for so long is a total stain on UK police.

Unwise? Seems pretty effective based of the news.

Don't forget about how his ex repeatedly went to the police to tell them what he was doing, with evidence, and was written off as crazy. I think she might have even been arrested herself over it. He didn't slip under the police radar, they actively ignored it.

be interesting to see who is responsible, their age and how long they had left of their sentence. Pretty boneheaded move if they would be due for release even anytime in the next 10 - 15 years… even Watkins being the scum of the century etc… I would not bother wasting my opportunity for freedom in the medium - long term, just to wear that scumbags demise as a badge of honour. Killing him hasn’t undone his crimes and the damage they caused people so I doubt his victims or their families will be celebrating much.

It came out during his trial that even after he'd been arrested and charged he continued to communicate (via a hidden phone) with some "fans" from his prison cell. I remember in one message he described what he got up to as "mega Lolz". This tells you everything about the guys mentality.

The Welsh cops have admitted they were remiss in dealing with the multiple accusations made about Watkins because they believed they were from disgruntled fans. Dozens of reports not filed or followed up. By rights the **** should have been put away for a lot longer.

Apparently it was the second attempt on his life. As far as I can see, if you are notoriously convicted of paedophilic crimes in the Uk, you are a dead man walking in prison.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 259 ✭✭AugustRain

He blamed his chronic drug abuse. Crack cocaine and meth. It would be interesting to know was he a victim of SA as a child himself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,296 ✭✭✭Hangdogroad

Plenty of chronic drug addicts who aren't remorseless, gloating paedophiles.
