Shaky enough first task, but the twins task was excellent, and the snakes & ladders task was nearly a dud but Reece's turn absolutely made up for it.

I missed the intro to the first task and had genuinely no idea what was going on.

Second task was great fun when the realization hit.

Third task was not great until Reece's attempt - gold!

Fun episode. I really think the studio bugs decide how I feel about the show and they’ve been good so far

Reece and Maisie were brilliant throughout but they were superb on the team task

Sanjeev is just phoning it in. Phil has his moments but I don't find him particularly funny but at least he's giving it a proper go

Am not very familiar with either Phil or Ania, but I've not found them particularly funny unfortunately.

The twin task was one of the best ever i thought. Think it’s a really good series so far, all contestants are contributing. I am quite enjoying Sanjeev’s almost ambivalence to it all. Reece, Phil and Maisie are excellent!

I find it a bit of a let down currently but I'm sure when I watch back it'll be fine. Its just after the ridiculous high of the best/2nd best series (along with series 7) no series would stand fairly.

Decent enough episode tonight. Ania didn't do the tiebreaker correctly though. She just knocked it off her head

I really just take each series as they are and try not to compare. I have a wee laugh every week or a big laugh every week. I come back regardless.

For the tie breaker, i think her hat just wasnt on as securely as sanjeev's cause of her hair, it came off more easily.

    Also I want Reece's coat.

definitely because of the hair. Fun episode overall. As some have said, that’s all that matters really

It's a fricken Withnail replica coat! Didnt realise his whole task outfit is too. Just when I thought I couldn't love him anymore, 😅 classic film

I think this is one of the funniest seasons in a long while tbh. Love Maisie and thd more irate she gets the better it is

Really good episode again. Excellent live and prize tasks.

Hard to call a winner too but I'd probably go with Ania

Really enjoyable season so far, prize task this week was terrific I thought. Lady Diana's revenge dress ha

Decent enough episode. That museum task wasn't great but was saved somewhat by Maisie. Rheece was quite harshly marked for the prize task i thought.

Couple of Taskmaster alumni playing Dublin next year.

Mike Wozniak is playing in March and Maisie Adam is playing September.

    Some other exciting announcements.

Taskmasters New Years Treat is scheduled to run over two episodes this year.

Also confirmed that Champion of Champions is due to air over Christmas with Sam Campbell, John Robins, Andy Zaltzman, Mathew Baynton and whoever wins this series. really hope COC is more than one episode if the NYT is two episodes.

They mentioned on countdown yesterday Suzie dent is taking part, which has me intrigued.

Also shows how much I hated the mae Martin season that I don't recognize the first 3 names in that lineup.

I rewatched that season recently and it's not bad. Has some highlights particularly with Frankie Boyle and Ivo Graham. But it did come after two great series and really paled in comparison.

Completely forgot Andy Zaltzman won his series.

Susie Dent could be great for the New Years Specials. Will be interesting to see how she interprets tasks, and she can be pretty funny on Cats Does Countdown.

Frankie to Kiell after the task to put something heavy on the jelly:

"The Third Law of Thermodynamics encompasses all the energy in the universe. That's more than your bowl and your f*cking spoon."

Frankie Boyle was one of the best contestants when it came to sitting in the studio and delivering some lines, I thought him and Ivo had a really good thing going on, they seemed to click in a weird opposite attracts way

Almost like "A father and son who haven't really spent any time together"

after the son was adopted by a rich posh family

No surprise Hugh and Rhod have multiple appearances.

I always enjoy when either clip of Mark and/or Hugh completely solving the art task pops up as despite solving the task and making it as easy as can be they still utterly fùcked it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 36,620 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Some contestants can be very "Think outside the box". I don't think Rhod was ever inside the box.

It's why it's almost a shame that tasks now have so many caveats in them that prevent contestants doing something interesting.

this year we’ve seen a woman give birth to her self and a man eating chocolate sauce while his feet were in gravy. Just to name 2

The tasks are not stifling them at all IMO

That's fair. I meant it more with regards the type of tasks where some people (as per the video above) try to find workarounds or exploits to get around doing the task properly. Those tasks feel like they have more caveats and rules applied to try prevent people finding ways around them.

In fairness, they do sort of have to do that these days, as by now everyone would know if you can't step on the red green, you could just move the red green or put something on it and stand on that, or if you must stay behind the line you could try to just move the line. But I also think sometimes the amount of rules they read out as part of some tasks feel overly restrictive. People finding exploits/cheats is always a fun part of the experience.
