Lets be honest Trump was never in the running for the award this year

    ...

He might have a chance in the next few years though.

Let's be honest, Trump has done absolutely nothing worthy of being nominated for the award, never mind win it. He has created division based on hatred and tension, fear and incitement, insult and accusation. He has contributed more to global division rather than peace. What's more is that you already know this but see nothing wrong with his actions

Aawww... Did the little b*tchbaby not manage to bully and threaten his way into a Nobel Peace Prize?

I mean, as others are pointing out this year's award is largely for actions taken last year, and yet the f*ckhead still tried to bully his way into it this year by claiming to have solved wars that never existed. You'd think someone who knows as much about everything as Trump does would have known it'd be extremely unlikely he'd even be in consideration this year.

But no, he tried to get it anyway, because he's a whingy little muppet.

And as sure as Israel won't abide by actual peace plans with Palestine or will completely take over Palestinian land, Trump isn't winning one next year either.

I think it was telling that the Nobel committee cited that:

"… we see the same trends elsewhere in the world - "rule of law abused by those in control, free media silenced, critics imprisoned and societies pushed towards authoritarian rule and militarisation".

Now I wonder who they were referring to in all that?

Given the fact he's managed to be incredibly destabilising to the globe, I'd say it's more likely that Snoopy wins. I'm sure the department of war will secure it. 😂

An exclamation "why didn't you think of that for me?" in the White House.

however she ended up can happen anybody.

The fact she is still there makes her just a deplorable as him, you are the company you keep after all.

She doesn’t need to be there for money now, divorce alone and she would have more money given to her than she would ever need.

Qatar getting an air force base in Idaho. 😂

And trump gets a plane got a plane as a gift 👍

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,628 ✭✭✭Yeah_Right

Agreed. I also studied it at high school in the mid 90s. Anyone that secured a lasting peace between Israel and Palestine would deserve the Nobel. Can't see it (the lasting peace) happening though.

Well the winner has dedicated the prize to Trump so its not all bad

In fact she is partly a stooge of the US Govt and a massive fan of Israels genocide so she is in good company.

Exactly. She's nothing but a gold digger.

I don't consider that trait to be decent.

No American president should ever get a peace prize. Republican or Democrat. When it comes to peace they're both as bad as each other. Peace me hole.

Trump pays nobody, Epstein sorted out Melania for him but Trump welched on doing favours and set the cops on him.

Full Epstein files will reveal all if Pam Bondi has not redacted any mention of Trump's name.

    Reckon files will be halved.

I don't know much about Melania but wanting kidnapped children returned to their parents is the lowest possible standard for calling someone a decent human being. And let's not forget she is married to a guy who expressed admiration for the person who is ultimately responsible for these kidnappings.

Don't know about that.I reckon Gorbachev and Reagan should have got it.

Without googling I don't recall if they did or not. Perhaps they did?

Obviously Obama's award was strange but I don't see how he could have turned it down (although I would have as obviously someone more deserving was passed over)

He could have stopped the massacre in Gaza day one if wanted to yet he spoke about ethnic cleansing and selling stolen property there. He honestly thought he’d win hence the CF happening this week of all weeks. It’s all so cringe and tragic. As another poster said no American president should get it, it has turned in to a farce anyway.

In addition to what Manic Moran already pointed out, there's another reason: space. Airspace to be precise. Qatar is a very small country with not a lot of airspace under its control. And to top it off, much of the neighbouring airspace is either close to countries whose relations with Qatar are at best ambivalent, or chock full of civilian traffic heading to and from the major airports in the region, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha.

In contrast, the intermountain west of the US, where Mountain Home AFB is located, is sparsely populated and has large tracts of uncontrolled, uncluttered airspace available. Just what you need when you give your aircrew space to train. And if you need something with a bit more "bite", just an hour or two of flying gets you to the Nevada Test and Training Range, arguably one of the best air combat training environments on the planet, with top of the line radar and electronic warfare systems that allow for training under conditions as close to actual combat as you can get without launching a weapon. The annual Red Flag exercises at Nellis AFB north of Las Vegas, the air base responsible for maintaining the Nevada Range, are highly sought after by NATO and non-NATO nations for that very reason, and you can easily have detachments from a dozen or two countries at Nellis just for Red Flag. Just make sure you stay clear of that rectangle of closed airspace centred around the dried lakebed at Groom Lake, also known as Area 51.

Singapore based one of its fighter squadrons at Mountain Home for the very same reason, it too is a small country without much in the way of airspace in which to conduct exercises and training. Meanwhile, the Luftwaffe (that's literally the German word for air force) had a squadron based at Holloman AFB in New Mexico for that reason as well, as well as for the fact that extreme low level flying, the mission profile for Germany's Tornado squadrons, is far easier to do when there's no one around to complain about it.

There are plenty of shady dealings going on between the Trump administration and numerous middle eastern countries, and to say that I have a negative view of the current US government would be a massive understatement, but this deal is probably one of the least controversial things he's done so far.

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Mass govt layoffs begin in the shadow of the continuing shutdown

Also 1.3m military personnel will not be paid, the first time ever, next Tuesday. I'm sure that'll go down real well with everyone

I have absolutely no f**king sympathy for any person who voted for Trump and is getting screwed over right now.

You knew, or ought to have known, what you were voting for.

    Tough sh1t.

I reckon the 100% tariff on Chinese imports is just a "be seen doing something" after a dud week.

Won't be surprised if his rhetoric gets nastier.

Well he's announced it, rather than just threatened it. Doesn't come in to effect until Nov 1st, so plenty of TACO time.

All this time China is diversifying away from the US (as much as it can) meanwhile the US is just as dependent on China (and other countries)
The tariffs that were supposed to bring back jobs to America have actually cost American jobs. I'd imagine if the supreme court rule in November that his tariffs are illegal, all his current threats he uses will be neutered. (That's a big if!)
