    As Sierra says above.

I took advantage of the 50% link last year, so now that's coming to an end rang them looking for a deal.

Best on initial offer was 50% off for 6 months, then full price for 6.

When I pushed to cancel, and as myself and the agent bonded over a mutual love for gerbils (yes it was a random conversation), he raised it to 50% off for 9 months, full price for 3; but he advised me to ring after that 1st full payment as by them we'd be eligible for a new contract and new deal.

So ring, look for Agent Z - codeword is Gerbils

I recently moved house have been with VM for over 10 years, rang them to see if they'd do a deal….no was the answer!! no offer of even six months half price just told its not something they offer, so cancelled my service, and I mean I have been hounded by them since with special offers!! I have received 2 phone calls, a letter in the post and umpteen text messages and the odd email with special offers if I return. Went with Vodaphone for broad band €35 a month for 6 months and €40 there after, and the signal is great, had 500 fiber with VM for €70 a month and now 1000 with VP

Virginmedia seriously need to have a look at their customer retention policies, at one stage there was no denying they where the best around, now there is a lot more competition with fiber.

On the 9 month half price deal via link. Used to do the wife swap to get the full 12 but since they scrapped the 360 box afraid of losing the ability to record properly on all channels and losing all the content already saved. Looks like will be a struggle to get a decent deal when it comes time to renew again. What's people's experience with the streaming box compared to the hard drive boxes?

Same question here, can I even just sign up with a different email address using my own name that's on the cancelled account. Broadband only no TV

if i cancel on the due date can i still bring my old home phone number with me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭robbie000

I have had to sign up with my wife's name as got no decent deals last time and was getting €100 one4all as a new customer.I made sure that the accounts overlapped by a week so I wasn't without Internet/tv.

The only hassle is setting up new equipment they send you but worked out cheaper.

Pain in the ass do if the just rewarded loyalty people wouldn't have to bother with doing that.

Do these links work for anyone after you've filled out the form? Just getting an error on my end.

12 month half price worked last year. Unfortunately, not this year.

Just got sky sorted on the other thread.

Just off the phone to virgin. On the basic 500mb line, was on 12 month offer through the link. Back up to 70 quid.

Got an Indian fella. Pretty sound, said straight up you were on the 12 Month text offer I see, said he can't offer 12 months again, maybe next year sir.

Said he can do 9 months half price. just took it.

Call took all of 3 mins.

They have all the cabling done around here for FTTH but won't be live for a while. Next year switching won't be any hassle with the new lines. No more haggling 😂

Hi, I want to sign up for virgin (new customer), how do you avail of the 100e one for all voucher?

    Cheers

I got this also after cancelling but error trying to sign up. Any joy with 12 months ringing them after getting this text?

The links above seem to be for october. I just used the previous links and added 0925 at the end and that was dead, so i tried 1025 and they show up. Maybe they might come active next week.

    12 month not working.

    cancel@virginmedia.ie still works

Was offered the 50% off deal last year. My current contract is up in a few weeks and best they are offering is 9 months half price and 3 months full price for 1 gig part fibre. I was talking to sky in the meantime and they are offering the new customer offer of €35 per month for 1 gig full fibre, so it’s a no brainier for me to switch to sky for 12 months.

That was the offer at the time which they did a number of times last year. Not sure if they will be doing it again anytime soon but there current offer is very good without the voucher.

Can you get Sky now on Virgins Fiber line connection?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 Tommy Hilfiger

If it's live i believe you can get virgin , sky, and vodafone on the ftth lines I think. If you log onto virgin, bang in your eircode and all you see is 500mb and 1GB options then no. If they are offering the 2GB + then yes.

Switcher.ie seem to have €100 credit on account offer with Virgin if you order before tomorrow plus €35p/m.

Cheers , prefer to have the one for all or if they ever run the free TV offer again, it would be better for me 😁

My broadband contract expires in about a month. Currently on 500mb, paying €35 a month.

I want to upgrade to either the 2gb or 5gb. Aware that this means the line needs to be upgraded requiring a technician to call out.

They won't budge on price - as an existing customer it would be €80pm (2gb) or €90 (5gb). For new customers, the prices are €55 (2gb) or €60 (5gb).

If I call to cancel and give my 30 days notice, and on a separate call, my partner signs up as a new customer - does that work?

Ideally wouldn't want any downtown between current 500mb service ending and new 2gb/5gb service beginning - would be happy to pay an overlap of 2 or 3 weeks. Does that work at the same property?

Tried filling the 12 month in there and got a confirmation:

    Hope that means it worked!

I got that too a couple of months back, but didn't subsequently receive the confirmation - make sure you do. I still hoped it worked, but then noticed I was charged full price on the next couple of bills. I recently emailed the "cancel@" address to cancel - no response. Eventually emailed customer service, stating (the truth) that I was going to go to Sky as they had a half price 12 month offer. They initiated the cancellation for 30 days' time. Got an email a week later offering 9 months 50% - I didn't respond. Got a phone call a week later trying to persuade me to stay and upgrade to 1Gb fibre (from 500mb non-fibre). I said I'd stay if they gave me the new customer deal, 50% off/12 months and they accepted so that's good. It needs an engineer visit to install

Have to stay, part of my reservation about moving is nervousness about how a new provider can physically connect the house. Current connection is obviously via CableLink/VirginMedia coax, and we've since had an extension built where the cable point inside the house is in a different place so I'm not sure how they would connect. Similarly for the Virgin Media fibre connection but at least they're the current provider.
So can anyone tell me: how does the fibre connection work? Is it just fibre to the local connection box in the ground, and then coax from there so no physical cable change required? Why is the engineer needed when previously they've just delivered the new router?

I got that as well but when I called a few weeks later, I was told there was no record of any offer etc

This didn't seem to work for me initially either. When I rang they said I was moving to full price and the best they were offering was six months half price. The same aul rigmarole. I then mentioned I had got a text message and signed up for 12 months half price online and they applied it for me there and then.

Had you already availed of the 12 months half price offer? I am considering saying this however I already got the 12 months half price last year and it mentions only to be used once
