I think the Ballinasloe horse fair was on? A wild guess I’d say it was involved

You'd really wonder about this country sometimes. The tolerance by authorities here of the abuse of animals is a national embarrassment, not to mention the lawlessness.

If that happened in any other country there'd be a major police response waiting for them. Should be an investigation into why there was no response too.

Lots of reports, but not a video in circulation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,656 ✭✭✭geographica

why does there have to be a video for everything nowadays?

cause you are really gonna want to take out your phone and start filming scrotes who are already exhibiting violent behavior, 👀

A moving train is an awfully small place to be when it's populated with people who are behaving like these teenagers. *allegedly*. At a guess, most of the passengers were doing everything they could to avoid attracting their attention, not waving a phone around. Not that it'd make any difference. The enablers will continue to enable.

Was on the train home to Galway a few weeks back. There were four young men snorting lines off the table, no sh1tes given for the dozen or so other people in the carriage. I reported it, but what am I going to do personally? I'm in my 60's, there's four of them in their 20's and they're coked up to the max.

Supposedly the Irish Transport Police will begin operating by the end of 2026

I'll believe it when I see it 🤣

Animal cruelty is ignored in this country. We have feral teens in Dublin that are allowed gallop horses around the city centre and go around on those sulky things, not travellers, just townies which are also a protected species in some ways.

Thomas St and Christchurch is always covered in horse sh*t and there has been footage of horses lying for dead on the roads around there.

No one does anything and the worst thing is some tourists pay these scumbags to bring them around.

If you tried this for 5 seconds in England you'd have animal rights groups all over it immediately but they have a long tradition of animal cruelty prevention, we just ignore it as everyone is afraid of travellers and inner city dublin townies, including the garda and other authorities.

That was a tough read. Sounds almost like something from a horror film than a train in a developed country.

I have to agree. Here in the UK, that sort of thing just wouldn't happen. If it did, it'd be front page news for days.

Let a section of society operate with impunity outside of the law and have people apologise for it and ignore everything they do and you get this.

RTE should be explaining why this was not reported and investigated. And issues like this.

I don't want my money spent on Donal Skehan or Ray Darcy and their ilk. I want the national broadcaster to deal with national issues. If I want a shopping channel, I can watch YouTube for free.

Nobody wants to take these people on .
Not the Guards not the Councils , nobody .
There was a thread on here a short while ago where a woman raised the issue of her family grave being damaged by an adjoining headstone. ( put in place by the ethnic minority who love big headstones )
The thread was shut down .
Why can these issues not even be discussed ?
If those in charge of maintaining a level of decency in society won’t deal with them , individuals will deal with them .

There are many studies showing a clear link between children treating animals cruelly and criminality in later life.

This incident needs to be thoroughly investigated.

I'm sure PaveePoint have a statement ready blaming RTE already.

That's absolutely despicable. The guards should be all over this. They have CCTV at the stations and on the trains. They must have info on the tickets that were scanned. Investigate who it was, investigate their parents and how they were letting their children do this. Get them for every thing they did; animal cruelty, dangerous behaviour, assault, arson. Fine or jail the parents.

" Fine or jail the parents "

    Won't happen. 😡

Probably because it's far more important to legislate against hate speech (especially when it's directed against minorities who may or may not specialise in being cruel to horses and other animals).

People film gangs of 20+ scumbag teenagers torturing animals and threatening people all the time on planes?

And you are the one implying something didn't happen? Interesting angle!

Absolute scumbags who will get away with it because the government and law enforcement like to ignore and pretend youth crime is not an issue. Double so if they are from a certain ethnic Irish background.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

They wonder why most pubs don't want to serve them and most people don't want bo halting site near them. Let's call a spade a spade there are valid reasons why they are disliked.

    They got on at Ballinasloe.

It's baffling why the media won't come out and say what their background is when reporting this case.

See the op - no media (bar 2 local papers and Gript) are reporting this.

Gript did a follow up piece today, one passenger called the gardai and when they got an unsatisfactory response they reported it to GSOC (or whatever they're called now). The updated report suggests some animals were killed on the train too
