It looks like Donald Trump has got a legitimate ceasefire. Wow

The hostages and their families and the Gazan civilians must be overjoyed. The ending of routine bombing in Gaza must be a relief to aid workers, medics and the whole population.

It seems unlikely that the Israeli Govt will refuse to sign off on the deal but I'd imagine a few of the far right will be apoplectic. This could be the start of the end of the current Govt and the end of Netanyahu.

Assuming everyone keeps to the deal, all that's left is both the ICJ and ICC cases. Justice must be done for War Crimes.

is only Hamas leaders in Qatar and others who don't want the deal

    Where did you hear that?

I'll believe it when I see it

    When Israel stops murdering people

Though I do condemn war crimes, regardless of who commits them

V watery sentence that SeanW. What warcrimes do you condemn Israeli politicians and military for?

I hope they keep the identities of the hamas negotiators under wraps due to the history of Israel murdering negotiators.

How this will play out after Netanyahus stated desire for a "greater Israel" will be interesting to see.

    Cautiously optimistic.

But you just have to be wary with Israel. Cannot trust them.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

This time it could be different, you never know. But great news as it sounds.

So either Bibi stops the bombing, lets in food, get's hostages back, pulls back troops and stands up to his lunatic partners in government or he breaks it, blames Khamas and starts up again.

Think once israel gets the hostages back, much needed political respite for Netanyahu, then they'll find an excuse to resuming the bombing killing and genocide as usual.

Great news for Gaza and Israel. At least it’s the beginning of the attacks and deaths ending. Hopefully both sides progress and it lasts.

Who would have thought that once they stood up to Israel and used the US's leverage, there could be a ceasefire ?!

Shame on both Trump and Biden for facilitating two years of genocide.

A ceasefire to Israel is that they just kill slightly less...

A country that deliberately starves people to death can never be trusted.

Dr. Akihiro Seita, UNRWA’s director of health and a co-author of the study, warned that more children would die unless fighting ceased and aid was allowed to flow freely. “Unimpeded, competent, international humanitarian nutritional, medical, economic, and social services” were urgently needed, he said.

The study concluded that two years of war had resulted in “enormous nutritional consequences” for tens of thousands of children. Researchers analyzed arm circumference measurements of 220,000 children aged between six months and five years, collected between January 2024 and August 2025, when a UN-backed panel formally declared famine in parts of Gaza.

    Wider context

In early 2024, about 5% of children showed signs of wasting, a key indicator of malnutrition. That figure rose to nearly 9% six months later. Following the imposition of severe aid restrictions by "Israel" at the end of 2024, wasting nearly doubled by January 2025.

A brief six-week ceasefire that allowed more humanitarian aid into Gaza brought some improvement, but conditions worsened again after "Israel" enforced an 11-week blockade beginning in March. Although restrictions were eased in May 2025, wasting levels among children surged to nearly 16%, with almost a quarter suffering from severe acute malnutrition, the most life-threatening form of the condition.

Researchers estimated that across Gaza, more than 54,600 children under six now require urgent nutrition and medical support, including 12,800 who are severely wasted.

Good news re the ceasefire deal. I just want them to get it done asap so that aid can get in. I don't trust Israel to keep the terms but we shall see.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Hate saying this but Trump winning the Nobel peace prize on Friday would probably be a good thing.

If he wins it and Israel restart the bombing he will look like he was hoodwinked and won’t be happy.

If he doesn’t win it and Israel resumes the bombing he probably won’t be bothered.

Israeli troops withdrawing, 400 aid trucks a day going into Gaza, the hostages released. We can be certain that Netanyahu and all hardcore Zionists will be absolutely fuming at this outcome. Looks like Trump forced them into the deal virtually at gunpoint, but now Netanyahu is going to have to try and sell this as an Israeli 'win' and something they are on board with.

The aim was to return the hostages, take 365KM2 of land held by a rebel militia with a modern army funded with billions of support and all they could achieve was to level the place while indiscriminately exterminating tens of thousands.

US military support in 2 years, at least the arms companies shares went up that's about all it achieved.

You mean when Israel stops bombing the people who invaded Israel, killed 1200 people after raping and torturing them and took 251 hostages from babies to old people and who wouldn't release them until now.

Israel is not bombing the people who invaded Israel and kidnapped hostages.

Israeli is committing Genocide on a civilian population.

Nobel peace prize has been awarded to people much much worse than Trump so he'll be in good company if when he gets it.

Definitely, he deserves credit. That deadweight Biden achieved sweet FA with Israel between October 2023 and January 2025…..useless President.

You could have fooled me into thinking no Hamas terrorists were killed in the last 2 years and it was only the people who celebrated the massacre on October 8th all around Gaza and the west bank who were killed.

Are you seriously saying you support the mass killing of civilian men women and children for the actions of Hamas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,478 ✭✭✭Miniegg

Is everything agreed now with the ceasefire?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,724 ✭✭✭DayInTheBog

I never said that. Unfortunately they are being killed die to their government using them as human shields and shooting those who try to leave.

If youre told to leave, given time to leave and don't. What do you expect

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,969 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

So all the people who have been killed are being used as human shields or are being shot by Hamas?

You're really making no sense here.

Hopefully this cease fire holds, peace can be achieved and Bibi gets tried at the ICJ for his actions.

Great news for the Israeli and Palestinian people.

Bad news for the thread junkies who like to post 24/7 about how much they hate Israel. Hopefully they’ll find another safe outlet for their hatred and bile.

I never thought I’d say this but fair dues to Trump for getting this deal done. Many other Presidents would have sat on their hands.

    upskuttling the world economy

Terrorising his own population - and immigrants legal and illegal

Siding with Russia against both Ukraine and his NATO allies

Arming Israel to the teeth -
