Michelin do it every year or so.

Michelin do it every year or so. Cash back offer on 2 tyres or 4. You submit your receipt to their portal and they pay you back directly.

    Exactly. Worth waiting for.

Hankook do it as well, and I'm sure I've seen Bridgestone and Continental at various stages during the year too.

Anyone doing it at the moment ? Will need 2 20” tyres in a few weeks

Make sure they will fit them before you order, just because the vendor says they will fit them doesn't mean they still do.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,579 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

The seller (website) has a list of installers that participate in the process. Never had an issue. They wouldn’t deliver to them if they were not actively partaking in the fitting service.

Bought a 221 Executive Plus recently, recalling liking it so far and trying to figure everything out but have some questions.

    1. I don't get any audio alerts when I am above the speed limit. The speed limit text goes red but I don't get the audio alerts. I have "Speed limit warning" selected. Under "Warning methods" I have the volume set to 2 and Haptic warning selected, I don't think I get haptic feedback either. Anyone else have this issue? I do get warning for LKA.

    2. Can you reorder the radio stations in favourites or in general. Mine seem to have to be in alphabetical order. I was used to a certain order.

    3. Anyone use the Wotts V2L cable? I am looking at the 2 gang version, is the socket the same thickness of a normal extension lead? Will it pass through a letterbox? Is the 15m super bulky to store. I am thinking it would be better to use just one long one than adding extension leads.

Hi is the socket the same depth as a standard extension lead. I am hoping to run it through a post box in the door. Do you know what the depth is? Thank you.

And out of left field comes the ioniq 5. Had not intention of buying one of these but one cam up I'm looking at next week. Premium 58kw model. 2022. Anything I should look out for?

I would find out if it's had any ICCU issues, which did affect some cars. And ask if the special coolant liquid has been replaced or not in a recent service, if not if may be a pending cost that you may not expect.

Anybody have personal experience of the 5 N?

Been thinking about a Taycan as a present to myself next year. But with the only dealer being in Dublin (me in Cork), and the potential pricing of servicing and problems has me swaying towards the N.
I fully appreciate the Taycan is more of a "status symbol", is all round more "premium" with the N being more of a toy. But I'm thinking bang for buck, the N is hard to beat.

    Whereabouts in Rochestown ?
Makes sense, lots of Porsches around Cork in recent years.

No idea. Was just talking to a contractor who was doing work on it.

Android Auto on 221 Ioniq 5

I have two Android phones where AA works perfectly on other cars , so I know the USB cable and the phones are good

    Does not work on my

    Ioniq 5

I am using the primary USB port, the one which is adjacent to the 12v outlet, this does charge the phone

firmware is up to date on the car

Settings are correct on the car and both phones

AA is on the latest version as is Android itself

For those who had this issue, and if fixed by Hyundai , how did they fix it, :

    USB port replacement ?

    head unit replacement ?

an update to the car firmware ?

    etc

I have that problem. I gave up trying to persuade my local dealer to fix it. I believe it requires a USB port replacement.

It's a known issue with the car, if you're handy you could replace it yourself, there's a YouTube video somewhere that shows how it's done.

The car is in warranty, so Ill get em to replace it, if they refuse, they will get a solicitors letter , now I know the USB port is the likely cause , so I can explain this to them

I wonder if the new USB port that fixes the issue , is in some way different from the "faulty" one, perhaps the new USB port has a different part number

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,062 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Jim Gavin got plenty of solicitor's letters. Didn't bother him one bit.

    They are next to useless.

On other forums some posters seem to think it's just a bad connection, corrosion on the contacts.

I have this issue since I got the car, it never bothered me enough to do anything about it.

Are the wireless charge points any good. Was going to change phone to take advantage but reading that they just cause overheating?

  • Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 28,872 Mod ✭✭✭✭oscarBravo

I've been using wireless charging for years without problems. The location of the wireless charger in the original Ioniq 5 leaves something to be desired, but I think they might have put it somewhere saner in the newer models.

We had it in our 2022 model, based in NI. Thought it was the USB issue, but the garage (CH Dundonald) diagnosed it as requiring a new head unit.

After a 3 month wait for the part, that sorted it, but Bluelink wouldn't connect. After more investigation it was determined that another new head unit was required. That sorted both issues for good, after another 3 month wait!

    Warranty

you absolutely need to see ‘FSH’ i.e. fully documented servicing+maintenance history record with itemised worksheets/invoices plus Hyundai dealer stamps in the service record book, confirming date / age / mileage warranty requirements have all been met

    Battery

strongly advise battery health report as well (will show remaining full charge capacity percentage - concerns if below 95%)

    Recalls

get the VIN number beforehand and check Hyundai (+licensing authority?) website to verify no o/standing recalls on the car (documentary evidence of work done should be included in the history record - see above)

This is exactly the normal information you'd expect to get prior to a sale, except for some weird reason Tesla refuse to provide any of this to a buyer 🧐

Took my car (221 Executive Plus) in for its Vehicle Health Check today. Currently at 77k kms.

Only things they recommended were wipers and pollen filter.
