Apart form the Dunnes Stores workers, was it really a big thing?

Where were the Irish marches for Sudan, Yemen, the Rohinga?

It's only the Jews that ever got us on the streets. That's the simple fact.

Do you really believe that somene being flown to attend the funeral of Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, isn't getting 'expenses'?

Those on flotilla are being busy to get their spotlight, so I doubt any of them are reading this thread..

All of them knew they won't reach the destination, but personally I would let them..

Too late I guess, by now most of them are being on comfortable flights back home, or being comforted by close family and close knit community.

Just hope flotilla wasn't running on diesel.

Hit the switch to keep the lights on.

You were slandering them all, though. If he did that then it's disgusting and he should not have been on the flotilla. I don't condone human rights abuses or have much time for people who support them. I presume you have proof the rest of the flotilla are all in the pay of Hamas or Hezbollah. I assume you do, that you wouldn't be that silly to speculate that they were on a public forum.

A UN international comission of Inquiry has found Israel has committed genocide, fulfilling 4 of the 5 acts of the genocide convention.

A UN special committee found Israel actions as consistent with the characteristics of genocode

The UN human rights council said there are reasonable ground to believe a genocide is being committed.

The ICJ found a plausible risk that Israel is committing genocide and ordered Israel to:

    • * Take all measures within its power to prevent acts of genocide (which includes killing, serious bodily or mental harm, inflicting conditions calculated to bring about physical destruction, and preventing births). Since that order, Gaza has been flattened, food blockaded, famine declared, people shot whilst queuing for aid, and on and on.
    • * Prevent and punish incitement to genocide (how many politicians have been punished for this? Smotrich, Gvir etc etc?)
    • * Allow humanitarian aid into Gaza - This includes ensuring crossings are open and operating, and enabling aid access without undue obstacles. They patently have not done this, the very opposite. Food blockaded, all crossing closer, famine in Gaza.

When you say thousands of organisations havent declare it genocide, who do you mean? Like Microsoft? Kingspan? McDonalds?

Virtually all reputable independant international bodies with expertise in this area have declared it. Some who havent have listed systematic warcrimes and ethnic cleansing.

I have given a sample list here enough ,it's in bold above in case you missed it.

Is you argument that they are all lying?

Are you sure - maybe - you are in too deep and can't backtrack?

I've no idea what you're talking about. Happy to read any details you might have?

But it doesn't detract from the rather serious accusation you made anyway:

I can almost guaranteee that there isn't a single one of them that isn't picking up a Hamas, Hezbollah, or Iranian regime paycheck in some form or other.

Your post accused every single person on the flotilla of being in the pay of terrorists.

You've called out one. Now do the other 399 or so.

    Making things up again.

It's a fact the IDF was borne from these groups, is it not? Be consistent condemn all forms of terrorism , you rightly condemn hamas but go out of your way to defend Israeli state terrorism

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,562 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

Not true. Irish people publicly protested the Iraq war and Ukraine war. The reason you may not see people out protesting the war in Sudan is perhaps because Sudan is sanctioned and not supported by western countries while committing war crimes.

Why aren't you defending these genocides aswell?

Apart form the Dunnes Stores workers, was it really a big thing?

You're definetly taking the piss now.

Where were the Irish marches for Sudan, Yemen, the Rohinga?

Seeing as those states are under sanctions, what would they be marching for, exactly?

It's only the Jews that ever got us on the streets. That's the simple fact.

You're ignoring the lack of sanctions and exclusions on the Israeli state and conflating Jewishness with the Israeli state.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 867 ✭✭✭sheepysheep

It is my opinion that they are giving flawed opinions.

You do realise that there are opposing views.

For instance, those on the flotilla will confidently state that what Israel did in arresting them was illegal. That opinion is echoed across all anti-israel socail media. A marine law expert in the Examiner today, however, had a different opinion, mainly, that maritmime law is complicated.

    So is proving genocide.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 867 ✭✭✭sheepysheep

The IDF is the Israeli people. If you were in Israel you'd be in it yourself, so would your sons and daughters, your nieces and nephews.

It's nothing to be ashamed of. No moreso than Irish people sould be ashamed to be in the Irish Defence forces or an Gardai.

You're just employing a fairly standard ploy to create a false equivalence between the Hamas and IDF.

One is a terrorist organisation. The other is the security of a state.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 867 ✭✭✭sheepysheep

Sure. Maybe, though, they're not protesting the Sudan or Rohinga or war in Yemen because they have no bloody interest?

I've never deen such venom in public protest in Ireland. I don't believe for a second it's all about sanctions.

If that were the case, you think the protests would did down once BDS was passed.

They're marching against Israel, not the goverment, although there is overlap.

And you are drawing a false conclusion by implying that a state body can't be guilty of terrorism, therefore anything they do is legitimate , this is not so. You effectively use the word equivalency to give them carte blanche to do what they want. The fact is things like collective punishment of civilians is a classic example of state terrorism. The IDF for years had this as an official doctrine. Tell me how many IDF soliders have been jailed for murdering civilians in the last twenty years. We know from the account of ex soliders they felt they had immunity to do as they pleased in combat. Some soldiers even laughed about shooting civilians in the back.

    Really don't remember SA protest.

I doubt that a majority of those protesting even know that there is a war in Yemen, yet alone if they are under sanctions or not. Sanctions are not a factor.

It also doesn't explain the champions of the left, Clare Daly and Mick Wallace, turning up in Yemen, a sanctioned country, and taking tea and biscuits with a group firing missiles at Israel.

Israel is a jewish state. No conflation is necessary. It's very Jewishness is the motivating factor for plenty.

Do you think they have given flawed opinions in other cases where states were accused of Genocide?

If the ICJ find Israel guilty of Genocide. Will the finding be flawed because the judges could only be anti semitic to reach such a conclusion?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,478 ✭✭✭Miniegg

But it's overwhelming. How are they all so flawed on this conflict, and this conflict alone? It is unprecedented that all those groups have declared genocide in the past and it be without merit.

You don't have the evidence they do, or the expertise, or the experience, or the legal knowledge - I find it incredible for you to so confidently say they are wrong, and you are right, without an iota of self reflection.

And not only that, if your belief is genuinely as benign as these organisation's opinion being flawed, why you would then bother your hole going on the internet and engaging in your shtick slandering those agree with them, as supporters of Jihadi terrorists or Jew haters, and consistently lying and spreading disinformation.

Its not credible to me that a difference of opinion would lead someone to partake in this, maybe I'm naive.

I find it very difficult to discount that you know full well that this, are supportive of it, and simply trying to discredit and shut down people opposed to it.

I'm confident that they won't be found guilty.

You don't need to be a 'Genocide scholar', whatever that actually is, to be able to read a Genocide definition, and weigh the accusation of genocide against the defence that all those 5 genocide markers simply occured as a natural consequence of war.

Multiple war crimes does not equal Genocide.

Ben Gvir talking smack does not equal intent.

You have to be able to show an actual intention and cordinated plan to wipe out a nation 'in whole or in part'.

The type of piecemeal killing going on daily in Gaza does not fit the description. This type of killing goes on in every war.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,478 ✭✭✭Miniegg

I doubt that a majority of those protesting even know that there is a war in Yemen,

If nobody knows there is a war in Yemen, how can they protest it? Same with Sudan, same with the Rohinga. Silly point.

We all know Israel. All know the holy land. All know the holocaust, what happened to the Jews. All know about Israel- it's in our football competitions, athletics, basketball ,etc etc. many in our older generations went to Israel on student exchanges in 60's / 70's (when we were both left leaning countries). We all know about the dispossession of Palestinians, from this increased familiarity with the area.

Your "Ireland is antisemetic" have been previously debunked, yet you persist! per ADL survey, Ireland is firmly in the lower range in Europe. Your claims (and those of Israeli shills - I have read the articles), are not backed up in any way.they are cynical attempt to paint us badly in light of their warcrimes.

We are the most charitable country in Europe, and our institutions like Goal and Concern have been helping people through the world for decades. Look at the movements, the volunteers, live aid, highest rated for donations on gofundme in the world etc etc. We are a country very engaged in charity, tackling poverty, reducing inequality, and yes, our history pitts us against colonialism, forced starvation and genocide. How could we not hold these views?

You paint our virtues as flaws, slander our strengths, and frame empathy for marginalized peoples as antisemitism. You should be ashamed tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,562 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

And if they are found guilty you will just state it's a flawed opinion anyway. If they are found not guilty you'll say you were vindicated. Its a win -win for you either way. I will trust the opinion of various independent experts who have concluded it's genocide over the opinion of someone who is clearly biased due to having lived in Israel. I am confident Israel will be found guilty if there is no political interference due to the fact they have shown clear intent to destroy at least in part the Palestinian population. How else to explain deliberately witholding aid for three months. Also destroying 86 per cent of Agricultural land and deliberatley shooting people who tried to fish in the sea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,562 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

They are protesting because they believe the Israeli state is commiting crimes against humanity and it has not been sanctioned for it. Why would they protest against Sudan, when Sudan is already sanctioned and not aided by western countries? Also you wouldn’t characterise people protesting the Ukraine war as Russian phobes. I suspect you'd consider they were protesting the Government of Russia and those who support it.

Will the pro Israelis condemn this?

    https://news.sky.com/story/guns-cash-and-american-aid-investigation-reveals-israels-support-for-gaza-militia-13442260?utm_campaign=feed&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=later-linkinbio

Is it ok to support Isis linked gangs who steal aid when it advances an Israeli government aim. It seems to be a recurring theme with Bibi to support Islamists when it suits him.

IDF is currently fighting wars on seven different fronts. Does that really indicate a 'defensive' body, or is it more the case that Israel and its population prefer war and violence to diplomacy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,026 ✭✭✭ceadaoin.

Wait, so the protests are about sanctions now? I thought it was about "free palestine", "ending the genocide" (despite a ceasefire plan being accepted, the protests are still taking place though?) "Globalising the intifada" (aka murdering jews) and ending Israel as a state (from the river to the sea etc)? I've never seen any signs calling for sanctions?

People could protest and call for the same things for Sudan or yemen, but they dont. They could call for an end to the actual openly planned genocide of Christians that is taking place in Nigeria, but they dont. No jews, no news.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,562 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

People could be protesting for numerous reasons. Calling for an end to the war; protesting those enabling the genocide, and for a two state solution. I have seen plenty of condemnation by people of the EU for not sanctioning Israel. Israel are still bombing Gaza after Trump asked them to stop. Does that sound like the deal has been accepted. We also know from Lebanon that Israel don't adhere to ceasefires. 103 people killed there now. So maybe people still protesting are conscious of this too

As far as i am aware there are no western countries supporting Genocide in Nigeria and Sudan? I am fairly sure most right thinking people condemn genocide wherever they are taking place-if they are aware of it. It seems some people are happy to point out other genocides to try and defend a genocide they are supporting. No doubt the apologists for those genocides would be denying genocide is taking place too, and trying to discredit anybody saying otherwise.

Why aren't you defending those genocides too? At least be consistent
