Exactly. So a good deal for HAMAS in terms of the hostage/prisoner exchange.

He will try and force it through, and the people who actually choose the winner can always be persuaded....

Yes but why does Israel take hostages, I thought they were totally against taking hostages?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,562 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

Why is Bibi unhappy ? I thought this was all about getting the hostages back and Hamas leaving power. I am shocked- utterly shocked- it's as if he was banking on Hamas to reject the deal. He was probably delighted yesterday when he heard the Hamas military leader in Gaza was against the plan.

So idiots who tried to attack the Israeli's got killed. The vast majority of that flotilla was unharmed.

As long as Greta didn't pull a knife there was fùck all danger.

Intense Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting areas of Gaza City currently under way regardless if Trump saying it must stop! Tail wagging the dog.

Why would they do that if the Flotilla people were not offering armed resistance?

At any rate, now that Saint Greta of Wokeness is on her way back to Europe, I look forward to her expedition to Northern Nigeria where Christians are under systemic attack, or the "re-education" camps in Xinjiang Northeast China …

Ah yes I forgot people like their Israeli's defenceless. Like the Manchester attack was an ideal scenario.

I think at this stage the most important thing is ending the fighting. Its gone beyond the political questions, and is about ending the civilian suffering. But there should be no displacement of the population. They must be allowed return to where they lived and rebuild.

What an odd way took at things .

Is armed resistance to occupation / dispossession /apartheid wrong, in your opinion ?

Is genocide justified to end resistance? (Well we all know what you think about that).

Literally defending genocide, and lying to paint the people opposed to it as being the same as yourself.

Just to reiterate - genocide has been confirmed by the UN, Amnesty, Medicine sans Frontiers, Actions Aid, Human Rights Watch, B'Tselem, Physician's for Human Rights, Oxfam, Medicine du Monde, Save the Children, Norwegian Refugee Council, International association of Genocide Scholars (over 500 members), International Federation for Human Rights, and on and on. The IPC, UNICEF, the WHO have declared famine in Gaza. Netenyahu and Gallant are wanted for war crimes.

This is a mix of legal bodies, legal experts, aid organizations with boots on the ground , academics - many of them Jewish - and humanitarian organizations, inside Israel and out. International doctors who go there are shouting about this to us all, including Irish ones. These aren't all Hamas. They aren't all engaging in a conspiracy.

If you are going to continue slandering people for listening to pretty much all experts with experience and understanding of these conditions, and being appropriately appalled by it, you need to tell us why they would all be making this up? How can you ignore it?

what happened on Oct 6 was beyond appalling. The way Israel was beyond appalling also same as what happened in Manchester a few days ago.

But I am perplexed at the national/ international response / outpouring of grieve or lack of thereof in both situations . There is a MASSIVE imbalance / some MAJOR piece missing. In Gaza over 65,000 , mainly innocent individuals have been killed, their houses /businesses levelled, have had to move several times and into camps if they are lucky, infrastructure and public services being obliterated , ongoing genocide, etc, etc, etc, AND NO, YES NO, support services , worth talking about, that the Palestinians can turn to . No phone number that they can ring for support, advic if you are traumatised by anything

In Manchester , there were two people killed - one by the UK police - and three people injured - at least one by the UK police also. There is A LOT of support being provided re government statements, community support from all religions and none, next week provision of services for all those that have been traumatised, increased police security to synagogues throughout the UK etc, etc.

I am totally baffled by the DIFFERENT RESPONSE to both very sad circumstances.

You are confused, the vast majority of people here condemn the killing of civilians whether they are Israeli or Palestinian. Whereas the likes of you continue to defend genocide.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,148 ✭✭✭wildgreen

So do you accept Israel has murdered at least 65,000 Palestinians, is committing genocide and ethnic cleansing, is starving people to death, and intends to invade neighbouring countries? Why aren't you prepared to say what you believe instead of hiding behind your make-believe imaginations?

why are you obsessed with people wanting to be so so anti Israel in this? I am well aware of the killings and bombings and destruction that Israel have perpetrated the past 20 or so months. I have said it a few times that they went OTT.

But now I think this possibility of ending killings and bombings should be welcomed and embraced by all. You? You seem more concerned and preoccupied with still wanting to pile on the blame and slating of Israel.

Israel has committed genocide. There is no walking away from that because they may be offering to slow down the genocide. Their leaders need to be tried in The Hague. Could Hitler have said let's all stop just as the allies reached Berlin?

One can only imagine that the Israelis are absolutely livid that Trump posted the Hamas statement on his Truth Social feed (and JD Vance posted it too). They have definitely had the rug pulled from under them here - Trump negotiating with Hamas in public and not giving a toss about how Israel feels about it.

Welcome to to the UK in 2025. Labour appear to be committed to sprinting the country towards a Reform government, by trying to pander to voters who no matter what they do, will hate their guts. And alienating their own supporters.

Equating Palastinian protests as antisemitic, as government ministers have basically being doing over the past couple of days, is a new low for Labour.

I see a member of the Israeli government has invited Tommy Robinson over for a visit. Says it all about that lot.

It might seem that way, but make no mistake, Israel are the ones in charge here!!!! Trump’s just a loose canon nut job. Israel will drive this. Huge influence in the U.S.

Wonder why the British govt didn’t just drop a few tonne of bombs on the synagogue?? That’s how you deal with terrorists, isn’t it? Any one else caught up in it is “collateral”, isn’t it??

You're conflating Jews and Israelis. Intellectual dishonesty just to try and get a dig in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,379 ✭✭✭Spudmonkey

786 murdered by Israel today. A particularly busy day of slaughter by the only democratic state in the ME who just want peace with their neighbours.

Will we have an international day of mourning I wonder or is that just reserved for the chosen people?

You're missing the point of the core arguments against Israel - "people killing each other".

Not only are Gazans not killing Israelis, but the Israelis have been committing War crimes from day one - executing innocent civilians, medics, journalists etc. They even executed their own.

And end to hostilities is very welcome but there is only one aggressor.
