What if I am wearing a pair of special sunglasses, and I can very obviously see that the protestors are, in fact, worth shooting?

The real battle is getting someone else to put the sunglasses on.

That meeting with the generals was weird

Only ray of light was the deafening silence

Want to get rid of fat generals what about starting with their fat felon president!

Why has congress gone on holidays where opposition, the lies and now threats.

The way this is going there will be no midterms and america in full ressession.

It's a meeting of military brass. The fact that they were silent doesnt mean anything. They could have been disgusted or they could have agreed, and I'm sure there were many of each. I'm sure some were thinking wtaf. But do you think they'd be whooping and hollering regardless of what was said? Do people not know what the military is and how they have to behave these days? Same as the people shocked that insubordination is grounds for dismissal/discharge. Like what do you expect? If you can't follow orders and feel the need to express opinions to your superiors and moralise about every order you might get (within reason obviously), the military isn't for you lol.

Hegseth certainly thought they’d be whooping and hollering

It's shocking how nobody (opposition or press) seems to be calling Trump out on what he's actually up to. At least that's the way it appears. Instead you have people like Newsome having a silly dig at Trump for being fat himself. Or the press joking about the troops being sent in to Portland when there's no need. What about the bigger picture here and calling Trump out on what he appears to be up to. What about predicting his next moves so that when they comes to pass, it will prove their case that it was always his plan?

    Another government shut down.

The first one since Trump was last in office.

And this time, MAGA control the WH, House and Senate.

Might be a bit late for an innocent person who may be shot on a alcoholics orders, by the time the court challenge comes through.

Going on your reasoning, Trump could nuke portland tomorrow and it only becomes a problem if a court has an issue with it after the fact.

All I see when I read your posts is excuses for why it will be OK for the US military to do some shady, immoral **** just because a specific rule isn't yet in place. The rules of the constitution are already there but you seem happy enough to ignore them and the oath you took, to protect the constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic. Its pretty clear who the enemy within is and they aren't in LA, Chicago or Portland.

I’ll take your refusal to answer to mean that you would. Pathetic

The more I see/hear of that meeting, the more I'm convinced that it was triggered by the shambles that was Trump's great birthday parade, probably made all the worse for him by watching the far more disciplined spectacle put on by China at the start of September.

One question remains unanswered for me, though: if Hegseth is putting an end to "dudes in dresses" does that mean we can also expect an end to "gals in pants" ?

Imagine the absolute cream of the American army , navy and air force having to listen to the two of them - one that served as a war ‘ reporter’ and his weapon of choice was the pen and far away from the real front line and the other would have served but for those ‘foot spurs’ which stopped him from putting his feet into the necessary army boots!!!!!!!!

In 'They live' there are actual invading aliens

In Real life, there are people eith schizophrenia who genuinely believe that there are invading demons or aliens and hallucinations play the role of those sunglasses

And more relevantly, military training focuses on dehumanizing the enemy so that soldiers can pull the trigger when it comes to battle.

Black Mirror did an episode 'Men Against Fire' where soldiers were given technology that allowed them to identify the enemy. It made them appear like they are not literally human when they were just hunting down and murdering unarmed people.

Trump is working so hard to dehumanise 'the enemy from within'. To make the military associate anti fascist protesters with threats to the state, to make them associated immigrants with invaders, (even 2nd and 3rd gen immigrants...)

This is definitely a part of it. Trump was seething that people laughed at his birthday parade while the Chinese parade was genuinely impressive

They are there to protect US from external threats or terrorism attacks not to go to war with its citizens becuse they voted democrat

They swore allegiance to the constitution as did the felon question is will they support felon in charge if he's not defending that.

Did he expect a NK response am sure he wants it to back up further abuse of power.

Half of them or more are paid up MAGA. They were lapping it up.

The ones that weren't, better get a plan in place to do something about it. Their career is safe for now but thats only a temporary situation. Trump will replace them one by one until theres no possibility of resistance.

    @Manic Moran a personal question:

When you see Hegseth & Trump up there giving their speeches, do you, personally, feel proud? Proud that this is your CinC & Defense Secretary, sorry "Secretary of War"?

I don't want to hear about the legality of anything, just a simple answer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,925 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

    A Commander in Chief who

    1) dodged service

    2) disrespected veterans

    3) said he preferred soldiers who don't get captured

And the US Secretary of "war" who leaked army plans via signal.

    What a clown show

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

I think I'm going to stop thanking military for their service. Not if it's attacking citizens. Screw that sh1t.

Trump stated that there is the enemy within, and that the generals would be tasked with dealing with these enemies.

That using the likes of Chicago will be used as a training ground for this new role.

So while many will simply wave this away as the rambling of a crazy man, at the same time he has complete unfettered power and it will be up to some individuals to actualy stand up to him, which nobody has done up till now and there doesn't appear that anyone will.

That would be assuming the troops would attack their own neighbours. Trump has Hegseth deploying Oregon N/G citizen-soldiers in their own city Portland which is the home of Oregon citizens. It may be an "divide and conquer" notion of theirs which could slap back at them if it came to a face-off between ICE agents at Portland's ICE base and Portland citizens protesting there.

Forget the hyperbole spoken by Trump about U.S military using U.S cities as battle scenario training zones. That would be as welcome as a hole in the head to any local politician seeking re-election, Trump has basically put a pistol to their collective head.

Current administration have been watching what's been going on in Gaza with envy, wishing they could do likewise to 'democrat cities' most likely

Trump has pulled his nominee, EJ Antoni, for the Bureau of Labour Statistics job after offensive social media posts. White House sources said Trump would be selecting another nominee for the post while saying Mr Antoni was a “brilliant economist”, making it clear that a prime need for a nominee was the ability not to offend Trump by producing statistic facts contrary to his.

Looks around the room of Brilliant Economists all turning their eyes down hoping their name is not called out by Trump, all thinking of the re-run image of Comey being applauded by Trump as his choice as FBI Director.
