Damp Issue Looking for Advice -

Hi I have damp on a wall and also a parquet floor that is curling upward. The damp is coming from below rather than above. The house is very old and we put a downstairs toilet under the stairs 6 years ago so it may be a leak, this toilet has also caused problems due to lack of angle for flow. The builder should have dug down but rather than that ran the pipe under the raised floor of the sitting room, Looks like we need to take the floor up and fix - anyone have anyone they can recommend /views on this ?

While not ideal I don't think you have much to worry about. Remedial steps - turn the heat up a bit and ventilate that area better.

What's directly behind that wall as the downstairs toilet is hardly under those 5 steps? If it's localised like that then I'd suggest that it's a leak.

the downstairs toilet is opposite but pipes go under the steps out to the drain under the sitting room

But the downstairs foul pipe will drain after every flush. I don't think unless its a large leak that the toilet drain could be the problem.

That's unless it's not draining and is backing up. Anyway as I said, it looks very localised to me.

Hi, it is backing up when too much toilet paper is used and i am then having to drain it at the sewer end so likely that ?
