Funnily enough the only US player to lose was one of the only ones you'd have expected to win

And the first two days were meltdowns for the US. You can do all the mental gymnastics to try and downplay the result, but a result is a result and it's a results based competition. In a year, nobody will give a monkeys how good or bad each day was.

    Hatton to seal it

Cut it out with the play-off nonsense, it was such a "success" in the President's Cup they got rid of it in favour of both teams sharing the cup if it ends up tied. If you draw the Cup at home and retain it, it may seem hollow. Ending 14-14 away from home is some achievement. Since Europe competed there has been 23(?) Ryder Cups and 6 away wins. It is very tough to win away from home.

Hatton looking decent on 18. So we can hopefully do away with the "moral victory" and other nonsense soon.

Really hope it’s Macintyre that secures the win.

USA have been immense today. Added hugely to the excitement today with their fighting spirit. Valuable lesson to some. Never gloat in sport - it really is that simple.

Lowry did amazing to hang in there. Fair play.

Bit harsh not to concede that one to Morikawa?

How about if its 14-14 send all 12 Vs 12 back out on to 12 different holes, and take the overall result, unless its 6 all again!!

Obviously all played at the same time, for timing.

Morikawa will have ICE after him this evening

At least the 0.5 for Hovland is moot now, would have retained the cup even if he forfeited and not shared the points.

I don't know if I would call it a meltdown. I think it's just fine margins, which went the way of the US today. The US didn't play badly at all yesterday, they played really well, but still lost 6-2.

I would have changed the order of the European lineup today, however. But, in hindsight, it made today interesting, and it gave Shane a moment that will be remembered forever.

    NNo sign of McIlroy?

And what if they tie again. And again. And it goes on forever. Players will be wiped after the day. Getting another round from those players won't make for good TV.

The format works as it is. If you want to take the championship from the holders, score more points. It's not complicated or controversial.

Some on here thinking Europe didn't win with Lowry's put? America whipped and on home soil to boot, then another half point to completely destroy them. Maybe Trump will want a recount? Yeah, great win.

Must be painful for the American players waiting for Burns to finish. They put in some shift today to be fair to them. Showed the kind of class their fans lacked and ironic that they played better when their fans were less obnoxious. Wouldn’t be surprised if their own fans behavior undermined their performance first 2 days.
