Last day of my holiday near Salerno in Italy. Got up to 33° on Friday and 31° yesterday. Max of 28° today but every day has been very pleasant with clear blue skies however an increase in instability is beginning to show over the nearby mountains. Still a CAP firmly in place though, probably till Tuesday.

At least your coming back to a bit of a dry spell highdef, but be prepared, there's a real chill in the air back home.

It was a pleasure to play golf in warm sunshine after some wet/windy Sundays. Went for a swim about an hour ago and the water was quite chilly in comparison to August. Blackrock was packed all the same.

    September casts a long shadow.

Thankfully they were short lived but quite heavy so not a hope of any thing drying out but hopefully it will over next few days.

Each to their own of course, but I hate the cold coming in, short days, heating on, layers of clothes, give me Summer all day long, even an Irish Summer 😊 Vey cold this morning cycling in, bit of a shock to the system.

Beautiful morning in Dublin with an autumnal bite. Heading for a swim this evening so hopefully get a nice sunset to bring in the autumn equinox.

Yeah for sure, love the long days of summer. The thoughts of the long, dark evenings or the never ending grey skies with the wind and rain we usually get in winter is so dreary. Already looking forward to next Spring. I'd love to hibernate the winter away but unfortunately that doesn't pay the heating bill!

I used to look forward to winter thinking of chasing easterlies etc and dreams of snow but all these winters are just so mild and uneventfull my love for winter ended years ago. I'm looking forward to the Spring already and especially next summer.

Beautiful day in Greystones with clear air/clear blue skies. Feels a lot warmer, out in the sun, than the 13c it is.

Just back from Warsaw Poland where yesterday hit 31C !!, so this nice sunshine eases the transition home🙂

Last night was one of the better nights over the last few months, clear skies, cold but fresh air, no dampness. Walking in the dark along a well known nature reserve pathway and ahead of me it looked like there was a blocky object, a bench I presumed, but something seemed off, though maybe a person standing there, suddenly car lights from the parallel road, a bloody big ass stag with a big pair of antlers !! I was gone, didn't run but went into the grass and hopped the fence to walk on the road as I wasn't taking no chances.

Missing data for Mt Dillon on wow, -0.6c at 5.30. A handful of official stations on wow were subzero including millstreet in north cork. Katesbridge in County Down -1.3c.

Just fyi - Picking sloes after the first frost improves their flavour and texture for recipes like sloe gin by helping to break down the skins, convert starches to sugars, and decrease tannins, leading to a milder, less bitter fruit.
