Tbh it's very hard to analyse that game, Chelsea down to 10 took off their attacking threat - We dominated.

10 v 10 us without an out an out striker we didn't look great but neither did Chelsea.

    Win is all that matters.

I think that's a lack of composure / confidence rather than coaching. Until they can go on a bit of a run, things will be panicky

The PL table doesn't look bad for Amorim. Very close to all teams apart from Liverpool and we have Arsenal, City and Chelsea fixtures out of the way. It'll be massive if he can get wins v Brentford and Sunderland in the next two games.

Didn't think the passing was so much less than Chelsea or less accurate. What did we do with the possession?

Never ceases to amaze how quiet this place gets everytime we win

He had his arm around his shoulder and was pulling him around and down then quickly let go as he realised they were both falling. It was stupid from Casemiro.

Yeah, but I can't help feeling there'll probably be 20 tackles/fouls just like it in every single Junior League soccer match in Ireland tomorrow and almost none of them will get yellow cards. It's just not the sort of response that any of us is used to seeing from a ref for that kind of action.

Never much positivity in here but at least today the players showed some courage after the well deserved criticism after the City match.

The senior players were on their game today.

As pointed out Maz and DeLigt were at their best today and Mbeumo and Cunha really played well up front.

Bruno reacted well to a lot of criticism that was flying his way with a MOTM display and his 100 goal.

Delighted as I thought beforehand a draw would be a good result.

Funny that his selection was being called a disgrace by some. Hes been a great signing.

Himself and Mbeumo combined brilliantly especially in that first half.

For 12 mill he was a steal.

I won't lie I was worried about him at RWB as I do really like him at RCB but he was quality today.

lol, Oh totally, yeah, Casemiro nearly dislocated his shoulder with that feather-light tug. Lucky the lad survived, really. Should’ve been straight red and a 10-game ban if we’re being consistent.

Important win if even to just keep the vultures at bay but I can't help feel very frustrated with that in part.

We'd have scored another 2 or 3 in the second half had we stayed with 11 on the pitch. It wasn't a yellow but you just cannot give the ref a chance to make a decision. He was playing well too.

Again, we played some lovely stuff in the first half. Chelsea couldn't deal with us and that forced the mistake. Mbuemo will surely start scoring regularly soon. He's doing everything bar finishing.

Second half panned out how I expected. Chelsea were going to take risks and try and overload the middle so we forced them wide. They actually created nothing bar the goal.

I'm still absolutely firmly in the 'Amorim in' camp. Anyone who doesn't think the performances so far this season are a significant improvement than what we produced last season are just wrong in my opinion.

Think some people are just biased. Same people would be asking for a yellow if a United attacker was goalside of a Chelsea player and got pulled back in the same manner.

It’s all a bit of a moot point in any case. Risk was not worth the reward. At least he got the goal and we held on.

It was a soft yellow, but not a travesty of a decision. Casemiro gave the ref a decision to make and the ref made it. It was a silly thing to do when Casemiro is supposed to be the experienced pro with 5 CL wins who understands how to manage a game.

Santos had three United defenders ahead of him and only Pedro ahead of him (who was going wide right) and no other options. It was not a particularly dangerous moment. Grabbing hold of Santos (before getting the ball) and dragging him down right in front of the referee while on a yellow was a daft decision.

I'm surprised no one is discussing the Cucurella tackle on Mbeumo. Two footed, off the ground and I didn't see/hear if there was a VAR review and not mentioned after game or MOTD. I thought it was a clear red personally.

That lad on tiktok is 4 games away from getting his hair cut now at least

Even his pressing has been off this season. Used to be so good at winning the ball back high up the pitch. Let’s hope it’s only a minor blip. If even three of Amad, Bruno, Mbeumo and Cunha start firing we’ll look a completely different team.

I wouldn't worry about Amad at all yet. Very big season from him last year, so I'm not surprised that he's dropped off from that. He's still a young lad so consistency will come. It's just a relief that we now have functioning forwards that will take the pressure off him to perform, which wasn't the case last year.

Just watched back the highlights. The Casemiro red is going to be glossed over as United won but it’s an absolute disgrace. Arguably not even a foul. Even if you say it was, it was 6v2 back. Never ever ever ever ever on any planet a second yellow.

Don’t buy this ‘you give the ref a decision’. You’re basically saying he can’t play at that point if he’s not allowed compete for that ball.

Felt United were outright robbed at times last year but almost deserved it they were so bad. Bit of a turn with a lucky peno against Burnley but that today was scandalous.

Think the club should speak on things so blatant after a win so it doesn’t just come across as sour grapes.

Not that incident but a few of us commented he should have been off, he got away with so much.

just watched higlights - Casemiro 2nd yellow wasn’t even a foul. Jokeshop!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,190 ✭✭✭ParkRunner

Regardless of the severity of the punishment Amorim should have known that Casemiro will continue to go into risky tackles even while on a yellow. I called it out before he was sent off as it has happened quite a few times. Thankfully got the 3 points but could easily have been needless points dropped

    A deserved win.

Of the 5 thus far, we deserved to win 4 but we won 2, lost 1 and drew 1. City game we got rightly hockeyed. Brentford away will be sticky but we should win, Sunderland at home is a minimum expectation win.

LFC, 5 for 5 as it is, they'd take a draw now if offered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭talla10

Even the most cautious manager would wait till half time before changing the midfield when 2-0 up against ten men. Casemiro denied Amorim that choice.

A very welcomed result on an evening where we might have dropped points at the end but gladly didn’t.

Moving onto Brentford away where I personally hope we don’t just win - we wipe the floor with them performance wise also.

We’ll have gotten a major boost from beating a very good Chelsea side and hopefully go 3 wins in a row for the first time in yonks.

1 game at a time & all that jazz.

    Better Born Lucky Than Rich.

It 100% was a foul, hands all over pulling him back which allows him to get the tackle in.

However, NEVER a yellow, the entire defense behind him and NEVER EVER a 2nd yellow for a red. Ref just make it even.
