I did not realise there was a game on this evening. Real great game on between New Zealand and Canada.

Smashing game, skill levels are off the charts.

I love a good physical game, but also love the speed and skills the wrwc is displaying

Still an excellent match, by far the best of the tournament. Canada full value for their lead, NZ only 17 behind now, 20 mins to go

this is a great game. Canada have been fantastic but seem to be tiring.

Jamie Joseph’s daughter takes the field.

That no.9 from Canada is excellent. Replacement comes on and makes a try saving tackle. Brilliant.

Stupid Qs How are Canada so good? Where do they learn the game?

Those missed 2 pointers might be crucial now, for both.

Canada ahead by 12, 15 to go. They really are tiring, but they absolutely busted a gut for the first 60, and they're only human.

NZ trying to play everything lightning quick, Canada have to be all about slowing their roll, tighten up on the field, play the phases and take every second when the set pieces form.

Best game of the competition by far.

The refereeing has been below what I would consider acceptable though, has it just been a policy overall to leave a lot go to keep things flowing in this tournament?

yeah I don’t like bashing refs but she’s not the best. Things like positioning etc. Don’t think she should get the final.

    Only prolonged bites to limbs.

gets WOTM. The Canada 4 and their 9 top class. NZ really missed a decent 7 imo

obviously it’s my side out. But happy for Canada. Thoroughly deserved. They’ll have my support for the final.

Full credit to them. They measured the game to perfection, taking inspiration from the South Africa inventiveness against NZ and made their pack advantage fully count. Their discipline for 90% of proceedings was absolutely top drawer also.

One of the best performances in the history of the Women's professional game.

Jorja miller (sp?) would have made a difference but not sure she could have changed the result.

Smashing game. Great exhibition of rugby. Skill levels were amazing but no lack of physically too.

Looking forward to the next semi and the final. Think team Canada for the win

That was a wonderful game of rugby.

Thought the Canadians were beginning to crumble but they steadied the ship well. Great game

Canada strong as its well supported, plenty women interested and its well backed in universities especially so they do quite well.

Great game, thinking of the Canadian lock taking the place kicks. We should have got Paul O'Connell or Donnacha O'Callaghan to do it, in their day.

During the match did some one say they had to crowdfund to get to the finals

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,214 ✭✭✭randomname2005

Had to crowdfund to train and get there. No kicking coach because they can't afford one , I think I heard during the match

Thought the only negative during the game was the ref. Thought she was poor. Very inconsistent and seems to ignore players not supporting their own weight at the rucks when they are putting both hands on the ground past the ball before attempting to get the ball. Was very impressed with the Canadian back three and their positioning. Always seemed to be in the right place.

Heres hoping the English beat the snot out of that French outfit!

terrible defense by the french winger there to bite in on the english prop for that try. Good finish by Kildunne

Cracking try there for France. Ref ignoring some incredibly blatant sealing off by England lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 920 ✭✭✭HanShotFirst

I’d love to find out a bit more about them and the structures.

It also begs the question how are the women so superior to the men? And not just in life!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,699 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

I read that they funded themselves to play in the tournament, which is absolutely mental if true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,785 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Am I the only one that saw the off-the-ball tackle by France there. Knock-on as well so no English try but surely the reset should have been penalty England?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,699 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

some great desperation defense from France here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 920 ✭✭✭HanShotFirst

Nice alright. France look the more skilful…I think.

Sealing off seems to be going on wholesale this championship.

france absolutely butchered that. Walk in try if she passes early
