The man with zero power has rounded up thousands of innocent people and put them in cages.

Called thousands of soldiers onto the streets of US cities

Obliterated freedom of speech in US media and Universities

He has dropped bombs on multiple countries

He has blocked any attempts to end the genocide in Gaza and continues to supply weapons and political support to the monsterous Netenyahu as he obliterates Gaza city and murders hundreds of thousands of innocent people…

    lol

    Rasmussen

    1,325 people polled.

    From 250 million.

    About 0.00053% of "likely voters"

    Oh and here the "poll"

1* Do you trust the political news you are getting?

2* How serious of a problem is “fake news” in the media?

3* Do you agree or disagree with this statement: The media are “truly the enemy of the people”?

    lol

But they are. Slavish devotion, lickspittle reverence of the leader and belief in the leaders reality is the hallmark of a cult.

And that's exactly what Trump supporters do. It's a cult. And they're deplorable for it.

Based on facts. And facts don't care about your feelings.

I'm convinced that anyone who uses that term in an argument isn't posting in good faith. It's meaningless.

It's a thing but it's not the thing MAGA types think it is.

MAGA can't actually defend Trump or their movement on any kind of moral or intellectual level. They know this on some level so it's just easier to invent a word to just dismiss any criticism rather than having to actually think about what they are saying and doing. Of course, most of them can't be bothered with a word so they go with the three letters and pronounce themselves the winner while they spend years of their one and only life defend a fascist who is almost certainly a rapist and paedophile.

It is utterly deranged, for want of a better word. They spent years going on about how they wanted to shut down paedophile rings (Pizzagate anyone?) and protect free speech but now they're perfectly happy to kill free speech and defend one of the worst human beings in history.

They're like water. They just mould themselves now into whatever the leader wants providing that he gives them that special feeling of legimising, in their minds, their hate and bigotry while tormenting people they hate. In return, they'll pledge their allegiance and souls to him.

It's 2025. We all know what MAGA is now and what American MAGA loons are. There's no more pretence or facade. They laughed when Democrats were attacked and murdered, they thought memes about Paul Pelosi getting attacked were hilarious but now we're supposed to be outraged because one of their favourite nazi grifters caught a bullet from one of their own. All they can do is pretend that people were celebrating this because it's what they do. They judge others based on their own morally repugnant standards. They use bad faith tactics to defend the indefensible because it's all they have.

I'd almost feel sorry for them but we know where fascism leads. Depending on the day, I could be persuaded that in 2016, people voted to reject the system. Not any more. They knew what they were voting for in 2024 and we should always remember that.

Satirical comedy is a healthy part of any democracy. Unless you fancy N Korea where the glorious leader can't be criticised.

It is but its a snoozefest when 90% of the late night chat guys just do anti Trump stuff.

Would be the same for 90% on any topic.

The only things Trump has ever consistently made money on are when he pretended to be a successful businessman on the Apprentice and now when he is pretending to be a politician.

Any time he tries to be an actual businessman he goes bankrupt.

What else are they supposed to do, though? That abomination is running their country into the ground. What else is there for them to talk about?

I’d imagine that would include the likes of Fox and so on.

This seems like a veiled attempt at approving what Trump has done. So you believe he did it on purpose then, there we go.

Trump supporters are RWA personality types (Right Wing Authoritarian)

They exhibit the following personality traits

    • Authoritarian submission: strong, uncritical deference to perceived legitimate authorities.
    • Authoritarian aggression: hostility directed at targets that authorities mark as acceptable to punish; tends to avoid “fair fights.”
    • Conventionalism: high adherence to the social norms and traditions endorsed by those authorities.

RWA authoritarians typically have the following characteristics

    • “Dangerous world” beliefs & fear that amplify aggression (“fear ignites authoritarian aggression”).
    • Self-righteousness that morally licenses punitive actions.
    • Ethnocentrism & prejudice toward out-groups; readiness to join “posses” to persecute designated enemies.
    • Punitive attitudes (e.g., harsher sentencing preferences).
    • Cognitive style marked by sloppy reasoning, compartmentalized beliefs, double standards, hypocrisy, and self-blindness; relatively impervious to contrary evidence and reliant on social support.
    • Strong in-group loyalty and conformity, susceptibility to demagogic leaders.
    • Frequent linkage with religious fundamentalism (empirically correlated in his studies).

    Brian Kilmeade???

The single most direct call to violence against citizens that's been heard on TV in the US and you continue to refuse to even acknowledge it occurred.

    But it's the'left" that are the problem….??

That's because Reagan scrapped the fairness doctrine so they've been brainwashed into believing it for the last 30-odd years by the likes of Fox News.

Rasmussen polling - So demonstrably biased and awful that Rasmussen himself left them and set up shop elsewhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,930 ✭✭✭threeball

In fairness, he does nothing to incentivise positive comment. Hes a walking talking car crash. Hes the personification of these videos you see of a drunk who falls down steps, gets up, falls into a bin, uses his cigarette lighter for see and lights the bin on fire. And on top of that the guy is a total a$$hole, so is it any wonder people comment on him.

Feel free to post all the good stuff that he is doing. People will happily debate on that.

Kilmeade calls for homeless people to be given involuntary lethal injections, within a few days, there were 2 mass shootings against homeless people

Yet its the 'left' who are inciting violence

To be fair, the media over there is pretty horrible. It's entirely corporatist and seems to exist in the same way that authoritarians use state media: To spread propaganda and legitimise the system while constraining the range of things that can be openly discussed. On the last of these, it's much harder since the rise of the internet.

    Here's one example:

    image.png

MAGA tells us that CNN is on the far left. It isn't. It might be socially liberal (I say might as I don't watch CNN so I've no idea) but it exists for the same reason that Fox News does: To promote corporate interests. The difference is that Fox News is regressively racist so they can pander to a different demographic.

Jake Tapper is another example. He withheld vital information about Joe Biden's cognitive capacity so he could crap out a book after the election.

None of them question billionaires' controlling so much wealth, why the healthcare system is so dysfunctional, why gun violence is so rampant, etc.. They're all responsible to varying degrees for the current situation.

A reminder that last year, the Supreme Court made a definitive ruling (NRA vs Maria T Vullo) that government officials cannot attempt to coerce private parties in order to punish or suppress views that the government disfavors.

Clearly that has happened in both Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel case. They were fired after public pressure from the FCC. Trump hasn't trued to hide his role, repeatedly threatening to "get" certain journalists and threatening to revoke broadcast licensed. FCC boss Brendan Carr even said just before Kimmel was fired "we may revoke licenses".

Autocrats always suppress the free press.

On balance I prefer CNN. It has a liberal lean, as do I. But I did think in term 1 when it had a previous person in charge (the person who was also involved in The Apprentice with him ironically), the panels were too lopsided against Trump, with 10-1 Left -Right panels that sort of reminded me of what happens in Fox News' the other way around (though Fox panels tend to be smaller). Now it's more like 50-50 though the reporters themselves are still liberal leaning. The change in ownership in Term 1 when Time Warner bought CNNs parent company may have played a role.

Reports Paramount-Skydance, which already owns CBS after the merger with, now wants to merge with Time Warner, which owns CNN. Larry Ellison could become the new Rupert Murdoch in terms of power over the media. Ellison is also owner of 41% of Oracle, a big tech company.

Part of a wave of mergers and consolidations as the US broadcast media struggles against competition from social media including YouTube. Also it's likely that if Ellison controlled CNN it would become pro-Trump.

I would recommend that Colbert and Kimmel go on Youtube instead. Kimmel has been fairly quiet in recent days. I don't think he should have to compromise his principles to please ABC. ABC are subject to Trump WH pressure because of Trump's lawsuits against them for the Harris interview.

Country is fine. Most people just going about their days. No different to any other time in America.

Its repetitive and boring. Supposed to be an entertainment show. Not a show about politics.

    True.

The thread is almost entirely Trump hate. Which if you want that maybe just a rework of the thread title to say what the thread really is.

    Classic TDS.

Have you heard of Kilmeade Ignorance Syndrome? You seem to have a very severe case. SAD

To many not in his cult, Trump is a hateful figure. You might want to explain why you think he is undeserving of the criticism levelled at him. Or do you like him so much you think he should be above criticism?

Did you ever stop to wonder. If everyone seems to be opposed to this guy, maybe they have a good reason?

Trump is dangerous and he is an idiot. A lethal combination. Even the folks in Aberbaijan would tell you that he is dangerous and that he is an idiot if there was a country called Aberbaijan. Trump apparently ended the war between them and Albania.

If Trump ever displayed an ounce of decency or integrity I'm sure we'd acknowledge it.

In fact, if you could name one positive thing he has done for anyone other than himself, then I'm all ears. My guess is that we'll all be waiting quite a while though.
