    Hi,

If the price is good I would take 2 slots, pm me if you proceed with it. Thanks.

No way can I get this iTunes method to work for me. Even made a new YouTube account to try and do it but it just buffers after I click confirm to start the premium plan and then just stops after a while as if I cancelled it buffering. With and without a VPN makes no difference either.

    Head wrecking.

I think this might be the 3rd time I've suggested this, I am not sure if you've ever taken my advice though, but I will say it again anyway..

I think it's your VPN that might be the issue, try a different one.

When I did it I didn't use a vpn. I'm pretty certain the method posted here doesn't require one.

The fact that your even trying to use a VPN sounds like you haven't read the instructions correctly. No need to be messing around setting up new you tube accounts either. Just go back to the start and go slowly step by step

I say the iTunes method doesn't work for me a few days ago and I get snarky comments about how I obviously need to use a VPN (even though the instructions say you don't), then I try and anticipate the first response by saying I tried both with and without a VPN and I still get snarky comments. I can't win.

Anyone know of any other Turkish subscriptions I could try with my Lira?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭clashoftheash1

Have you a suggestion of a different VPN? After paying for Mullvad I really don't want to pay for another and I could not get Turkey on Tunnelbear, Proton or Urban (I can't seem to get any free option on Urban even though I used it before for Ukrainian YouTube).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,851 ✭✭✭Nigzcurran

Im not being snarky but why have you even got lira? You just buy credit for your Turkish iTunes account with your normal bank card. Then set up your you tube subscription to be paid via your Turkish iTunes account.

Hi. Could you consider me and 2 other names?

That means I have 3 members for you. I would pay for the 3.

For the millionth time, the ITunes method does not require a VPN...

I would be holding off on setting up new YouTube family plan sharing until the end of the month.

The emails about suspending YouTube Premium access because you are not in same household are rolling out now for US & German subscribers. 26th is meant to be the go live date for the crackdown

Poster said initially that they couldn't get Turkish pricing, for TL to appear, a VPN set to Turkey will be required.

I don’t think that’s correct, once you are logged in to your Turkish iTunes account, pricing comes up in TRY.

OP can you post step by step what are doing? Hopefully it will show where you are going wrong

Is the user definitely using the YouTube app on the apple device? They specifically mentioned they were using the website through Safari here but never confirmed after that they have tried to subscribe from within the app after it was pointed out.

You have to use the app in order to be presented with the option of paying via your apple account (and thus the giftcard balance) - using the website will not. And you 100% do not need to use a VPN at this point. You just need to make sure that the Turkey apple id is what is currently signed in on the app store on the device you are using. The VPN is only needed when creating the apple id, after that it should be left turned off.

No it isn't, read the guide it explains step by step how to do it, the main advantage is that a VPN is not required. I've done it myself and I didn't use a VPN, most VPNs are junk anyway. Getting Turkish credits is becoming a challenge, I'm paid up until next next June I'll worry about it then.

That's my status using the app on my phone, no VPN or any tricking it just works.

We got this email last night, so it's not isolated to US and Germany.

Ok, it's been so long since I set mine up I can't quite remember now, I just know in the past for YouTube/Netflix, if you wanted to avail of cheaper countries pricing, you needed a VPN, and free ones often wouldn't cut it, some were so crap, that even when turned on, the pricing stayed at €€€

I wasn't aware of any looming issues with ITunes stopping selling vouchers for Turkey online/or of YouTube no longer accepting ITunes as a valid payment method though, it's not like Netflix, that will be harder for Google to enforce i would imagine

There's no VPN needed ever that's the beauty of it. Next year when I need to top up I just login with my Turkish Apple ID buy enough Turkish credits for the year, logout, log back in to my standard Irish account and I'm sorted 👍

Over on the Netflix thread they were saying it was getting difficult to buy credits without being fleeced.

Those are netflix gift cards, what we are buying for youtube are apple giftcards and then adding them to our turkish apple ID

Spot on, if I had a brain I'd be dangerous 🫣

I think I'm passed saving because I honest to God feel like I've done everything.

I created a new Turkish apple ID with a different email (but this new ID actually has the same email as my existing YouTube account). It has my Irish phone number (which the instructions say isn't a problem) and I was never asked for an exact address.

I've signed into this Turkish ID on my iPad on both the appstore and in settings. I added 1500 Lira using the website linked in the instructions and it's in my account.

I've uninstalled the YouTube app and reinstalled it with my new ID (in case that was why it wasn't working). After a few failures with my own Google account, I've created a new unconnected one with the hopes of creating a family plan.

When I don't use a VPN YouTube is offering me premium in euros and when I do it's offering it to me in Lira but I can't complete the purchase, so somehow it's tracking my location and I don't know how.

The step I'm definitely missing is that I was never prompted to enter my address which the instructions say I should be at some point (my apple ID location is set to Turkey though) so maybe if I can find out how to add this I might be good. (I can't find an option to add address in settings nor can I see a way they're tracking my current one)

    Check all your steps here.

All your messing now with new emails address will cause big issue if you are trying to setup family plan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭clashoftheash1

After turning off and on my iPad, YouTube now offers me premium in Lira without a VPN on my new Google account but I still can't complete the purchase the same as before. On my existing YouTube account it still comes up as "unable to verify country".

According to the instructions, when I try to purchase premium I'm supposed to be prompted to enter my Turkish address but this isn't happening. Just buffers for a few seconds without leaving the page and then stops buffering.

That's the guide I've been working off and I nearly know it off by heart at this stage. Can't see anything I didn't do (other than never being asked to give an exact address).

Ya I was trying to keep it as simple as possible but had to try new accounts and VPNs when it wouldn't work after trying a good few times.
