Unlucky - near end of Doon match he pulled on breaking ball looking for goal and got clipped by hurley.

Brilliant game last night between Doon and Kilmallock. Doon somewhat lucky to get the draw as Kilmallock did a lot right. Two very early goals set them up for a strong performance overall. Shane O Brien was well held but O Reilly, Killian Hayes and Houlihan were good. O Briens brother (Dylan?) very good in defence.

Doon's full forward line had a tough night, Barry Murphy and Richie English excellent in the half back line. Chris Thomas battled away. An absolute exhibition though from Adam English. Floated around the field, his speed and touch were at an elite level.

No surprise it was a good quality match....I counted 16 players that are or have previously been on the Limerick panel.

Mungret had a woeful first half tonight v Monaleen. Sucession of bad wides drained their confidence completely. 15 down early in the 2nd half, but in fairness made a game of it afterwards, bringing it back to 4 points at one stage. Monaleen pushed on again in the last few minutes to win by 7.

O Dalaigh very hard to deal with for club level backs. Dara Ferland and Eoin O Driscoll also effective for Monaleen, and Daragh Langan looking like the kind of player who could develop into a serious option at half back for Limerick.

Liam Lynch and Brian O Mara dragged Mungret back into it, Niall Mulcahy also. Not sure about Fintan Fitzgerald playing as a back....surely his class would be better employed at the other end of the field.

"No surprise it was a good quality match....I counted 16 players that are or have previously been on the Limerick panel"

That's what sets those 2 and NaP apart. Players with at least some experience of elite training all over the pitch.

Fairly clinical win for NaP today. Shane didn't have much going forward and were beaten all over the pitch when it came to intensity. Mike Casey only came on in the second half and Peter didn't play but there was plenty of good performances across the lines.

What was the score there? I used to get all the updates from Twitter but haven't logged into it in months now.

Off the top of my head 2-21 to 1-12.

NaP went roughly 8 - 0 up at the start and were around 14 - 7 at half time. Shane finally started to match them for intensity and brought it back to 3 down but NaP just calmly pulled away as the game went on. Their non intercounty players are really only a small step off. All big, skillful and intelligent.

Na Piarsaigh have attacked every game hard so far...they'll be hard beaten if they can keep that level of workrate going.

I think Patrickswell are mathematically gone now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,486 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

I think the Well can technically hope a number of teams finish on 4 and they go through but it's very unlikely.

I think it's safe to say NaP are at least in the quarters and the Well are gone. Very big ask for Ahane now too so top 4 almost set and it's a matter of what order.

Great chance this year for Ballybrown or maybe Monaleen to make the semis.

I’d say Patrickswell will do well to stay in the top division of senior , don’t have the players coming through from underage . The big 4 is now down to the big 3 of Nap , Doon & Kilmallock followed a bit back by a new second group of ballybrown , ahane , patrickswell & monaleen . The other 5 will fight out relegation which is on a bit of a knife edge with Dromin Athlacca vulnerable there on results to date

Iain Corbett calls it a day,

One of the giants of Limerick Football. Legend.

Agree it's a great opportunity for monaleen/ballybrown maybe both to get to the semis. Badly needed too mind you kilmallock have surprised me they're not bad.

Nap or down for me though both are very good and either could go a long way in munster club

Dylan O'Shea and paddy o Donovan both played well tonight

O'Shea needs a bit of training but there's definitely a diamond in there, has to be in county squad come Nov, we've about 4 backs to find

Effin took the win tonight because they had to, bouncers already into semi final

Good result for effin and there 3rd best team now, knife fight for 4th spot and relegation

Has anyone used the streaming service yet. Just wondering is there any glitches I need to watch out for like GAA+

Cast from the phone would be the preferred option but would I be better to just watch on the laptop ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 776 ✭✭✭C4000

I've watched a good few matches on it. No issues or problems so far....

Generally using it via a firestick which works well. I say its slightly better than clubber in terms of picture quality.

Commentary is decent, John Keogh and Tom Clancy usually with various co commentators....TJ Ryan, Leo o Connor etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,486 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

    Thanks.

Some of those commentators sound better than the big TV production teams. I don't know how someone as good as TJ can put up with that Landers clown over on the Examiner. He makes it unlistenable which is a pity because TJ and Liam Sheedy know their stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,649 ✭✭✭paddy no 11

The streaming is excellent in fairness, picture not as gloomy as clubber and commentary generally fine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,649 ✭✭✭paddy no 11

Since when did kilmallock stop practicing their touch? Hanley should never have been dropped out of limerick squad exactly the kind of athlete needed when others were playing injured

The form of cian carroll and owen meaner would tell you last years u 20 management hadn't a clue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,486 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Ya the streaming worked perfectly fine.

The match itself was a bit of a dud like many NaP group games seem to be. They played the strong wind very well by having a very slick short game in the first half and using workrate to destroy any attempt from Kilmallock to do the same in the second. From a Limerick point of view Peter Casey was so sharp and inventive when he came on and WO'D and Mike dominant as usual. WO'D even got a banger of a point that he probably surprised himself with. McEvoy continues to improve too.

Hard to judge any Kilmallock player individually because they were so collectively beaten and had so many forced full and temporary changes it was like a challenge game with rolling subs.

NaP now guaranteed a semi and The Well are relegated so their final game is a dud and all to play for in the other 2 games.

He's been in a neck brace for the last few weeks. It must be serious enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,374 ✭✭✭Seadin

Hope he makes a speedy recovery and is back playing with Club and county again soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 776 ✭✭✭C4000

Serious drama this afternoon. Absolute sickener for Ahane, missed a penalty with the last puck of the game that would have put them into the quarter final.

Kilmallock limp through after a trouncing by Ballybrown, escaping by the skin of their teeth. Aidan O Connor the best player in the county at the minute, exceptional display again.

Adare going through from group 2 after getting out of jail with a last minute penalty against a very good Newcastle West.

What are the dates for the QFs, Semi Finals and Final. Since split season I think all grades have aligned with final played by end of Oct.

Pitches are going to get heavy very early this year which will suit the more physical teams.
