United have progressed. Good players in, poor and disruptive players out.

But Amorim seems to have regressed. Not just the stubbornness re the system, but persisting with underperforming players like Bruno in midfield. He used to make sensible tactical subs which often brought results. Now he makes defensive changes and lumps Maguire up front.

I like Glasner but I can't be dealing with 3-5-2 or any variant any more.

    That's not a deflection, don't be silly.

RA gave honest answers to every question about tactics and his approach. Some fans may that not have the attention span to listen or the interest to want to understand. That's fine. Others may understand, but disagree. And that's fine too.

But don't come out and say ETH was better in the media. Unless you actively enjoy being treated as a fool.

I read that as all the backroom stuff going on, particularly with the bomb squad. However, that in no excuses the results.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Hmm, yes, a player thatnwas just ignored by the entire team today was giving us nada. Imagine crossing the ball into the opposition box 13 times and not hitting your 6 foot 5 striker once. That's not on him.

Never actually said ETH was better with the media. And anyway I don't really like your tone…so am not going to spend any more time discussing it with you.

But yes, this comment from RA that I highlighted is indeed just deflection stuff…..it really doesn't excuse the results or performances

What's this this about the the "bomb squad"? That is term for 6/2 split in sa rugby!

Think of it like that, where you have a group of players ready to come in and make a huge impact only it's completely reversed.

I'll get on to the football media now amd tell them to stop using it.

I'd love to get Kane or Halland on loan for a month, solely to confirm once and for all whether it is the system or the striker that has been the problem. Because both Hojlund and Sesko are unproven then we really can't be sure why it is that so often it appears to be 10 + 1 on the field.

Bomb squad has been a football term for well over two decades. I've heard dozens of ex-pros talk about being put in the bomb squad when a new manager comes in or when a new season starts and a manager attempts to change things.

more on amorim. if the best coach in the league changes, why will you not?

"But I am not going to change my philosophy. I play my way and I am going to play my way."

Amorim on City (prematch): It’s a top team with the best coach in the league, a team that is really hard to imagine how they are going to play.

Next game Bruno in left 10, Amad rwb and change the midfield.

Could Maz play in a mid 2 with Mainoo or Casemiro.

Ugarte offers nothing, watching motd and he just runs to the ball when theirs no danger creating pocketsnehind him

Bad enough its a 2 man midfield but to have Bruno playing it and not suiting his style to having Ugarte running to the ball leaving spaces.

Maz had the engine and is able to be able to track players around him more.

    Maz and Mainoo?

Could be absurd but the midfield duo's we've tried don't work.

Shaw seemed to slow everything down as well whenever he got the ball, was so poor today. Heaven in for him next match for me.

Neto will rinse Shaw next week.

Fair enough but I don't see it as a deflection, he was just adding additional context to an assertion made by a journalist. No problem with it tbh.

Ad for ETH, I remember getting really annoyed by his dishonesty in the media. He would rarely engage seriously with tactical questions and just parroted the same 'two trophies in two years' response every single time.

Amorim has come out and said, Mainoo is fighting for Brunos place in midfield.

With the Cuhna injury then surely..

This is the perfect time to play Bruno left 10 (where he has been unreal for us in a 10 role since joining)

And play Mainoo in midfield replacing him.

If hes battling Bruno for that midfield spot surely you push Bruno up and slot in mainoo.

Amad was forming a fine partnership as rwb with Mbeumo, why change it to fit Bruno mid and amad left 10.

After that performance (entirely expected) and that interview after, is there any reason not to sack this joke of a manager first thing this morning?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,211 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

Left side doesn't suit him either. Not only doesn't this system suit the squad, but it really, really doesn't suit the captain and best player.

Its quite the dichotomy, Amorim is apparently welded to his philosophy, but not welded enough to drop the player that doesn't fit into it at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,176 ✭✭✭NITRO95

I'm not going to call Amorim names or call him a joke or call any players ****. I think we've reached a breaking point where the manager isn't optimising what is available to him, the 3421 just isn't getting the most out of the squad as it currently is. Either RA needs to change the system or a call needs to be made on his future. Whether it's 442 or 4231 or 433, I'm now to the point that I need to see RA adapt his system if hes to continue.

I'd now be looking to see what system/formation will get the best from Sesko, M'Beumo, Cunha & Amad. If its 442 with wingers, lets do that. If its 4231 with inverted wingers, lets do that. Bruno can't be accommodated in CM just because hes Bruno, its not working. And I'll hold my hands up and say I thought it would work.

One thing I can say for certain after yesterday is that Luke Shaw is done as a PL footballer. He was awful yesterday and hes not exactly been prime Maldini in the previous 3 games either.

    Altay/Lammens

    Maz Yoro MDL Dorgu/Leon

    M'Beumo Ugarte Mainoo Amad

    Cunha

    Sesko

    ----—----------------------------------------

    Altay/Lammens

    Maz/Dalot Yoro MDL Dorgu/Leon

    Ugarte/Case

    Bruno/Mount Mainoo

    M'Beumo Cunha

    Sesko

Theres the squad laid out in a 442 and a 433. The squad isn't bad. There's enough there that we should be doing much much better. If RA and those around him aren't willing to change then I think the management team above him need to act because things arent getting better. Its been almost a year and we dont seem anymore comfortable in 3421 than we did against Ipswich last November.

We have 4 points out of 12, it seems bad but we have played 2 out the top 3 teams in the league. We are slightly off that level.

Take away those 2 games and we have 4 points from a possibe 6. Bar the elite teams where we might get the odd point here and there we are doing well.

United on track to finsh top 8 and the year after break into champions league spot.

The future is clear, I believe in Amorim. The players are finally showing promise in the system.

Sesko will score 15 league goals this season. Shame on the fans not believing

Fulham and Burnley performances were not convincing enough.

The only game I thought we were solid enough in was vs Arsenal, and tbrh they were not at the races that day.
