I must look at Energia's terms and conditions to make sure i dont have to refund them the €75 cash bonus along with the €50 exit penalty!

Looks like a switch to EI for myself come Oct 9th after Energia's price increase.

Do any current EI customers know if the offer level pay on smart meter. Currently with Energia smart EV plan and want to move to EI. Contract end date is 19th Sep. But EI sales agent stated they don't support level pay.

If your referring to the Home SST Saver 30% plans, its €10 on the dual fuel and €20 on the electricity only.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,731 ✭✭✭bren2001

    you do

It's one reason why I always try to avoid welcome bonuses

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,632 ✭✭✭wassie

Energia don't appear to have any clawback provisions in their T&Cs or offers that I can find. You should also check the offer documentation that was supplied at signup.

That being said I would expect that they would try to do so in a final invoice.

In relation to welcome cashbacks or bonuses, I think some providers state that you can only use them as credit towards your bill. This might be an indirect way of being able to indirectly clawback the amount if you break contract early.

the BWG Flogas rates are still open - contract upto 30th Sept 2026 - Smart day night rates are the best available from what i can see.

for smart day/night do you have to have day/night smart meter or can use the regular smart meters?

SC is way higher on it, though eab is only €13 more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,840 ✭✭✭podge3

Has it been clarified that the "fixed" part of the BWG tariff is the actual rate or discount?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 365 ✭✭cloudhopper19

That seems really good and can't see prices fluxing to much with everything going on in the world. tempted to do the switch my EI is coming to an end in 2 weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,232 ✭✭✭ablelocks

regular smart meter as far as i know - that's what i have and they didn't say anything about having to change meter.

as regards fixed rate - i'm taking it as the rate as there is no mention of % discounts on the webpage…

Time to say goodbye to Energia

Thanks, that the first decent Smart Rate I've seen.

I'm a high user 14k units/year, 81% on night rate as I have 2 EVs and a heat pump and 10Kw battery charging at night. I really don't want to go to a Smart tarriff, would prefer to stay on the Legacy day/night, even though I have a smart meter.

Can't see any mention of over usage rate for night rate on the legacy option, does anyone know if they increase the night rate over 1000kw?

Anyone ever seen this on a bill? My bill from last month got reversed and they hit me with a higher bill. Can't make head nor tail of it, my contract is up tomorrow so I'm ringing them anyway

bills for the last eleven months are re-calculated, presume an issue with the meter readings

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,786 ✭✭✭Frank Grimes

Yes that happen to me when I was with SSE. It ended up being a few Euro higher, I didn't contact them as at that time it was extremely difficult to get through to them and I decided that forgoing the few Euro was worth not spending 20+ minutes to even get through to someone, plus my contract was nearly up and I was switching. Trying to do anything with them via social media at the time was pointless as I recall, which is probably why I was phoning them.

I had the same on my bill. They calculated previous bills incorrectly. So they refunded me the total of all bills i paid during that period and then recalculated my usage. I crosschecked their total units for the period against esb networks readings i downloaded and they matched so it was all good. However i see on your bill that it says invoice reversed and it's charging you €334. That's confusing!

Just out of contract with Energia this week. Great timing! Was on smart Dual fuel 29/29. I was going to separate out my gas and electricity and go with Electric Ireland smart electricity 30% and Flogas 30% gas only.

Electric Ireland dropping their gas price from November has brought the gas to the same or slightly under Flogas so i switched both to Electric Ireland this morning. Home Dual SST 30%. I will use minimal gas between now and 1 November so the slightly higher gas rate over the next month before the reduction is not really an issue.

It will be interesting to see if Energia ring me and what rates they offer to retain me considering the increase that's due in October. I can see Electric Ireland pulling in a lot of Energia customers. Hopefully they don't get us in and then pile up the rates🙄

Yes, would be good to get clarity. Everything we were told was that it was properly 'fixed', like the previous deal/s - but the sign up letter just said the discount was fixed. Hoping it was just a copy and paste from standard plans….

The way the fixed is stated there would make me think the unit rate is fixed.

What's the difference between BWG Flogas and the usual Flogas?

bwg deal was cheaper last time I checked

    The internet isn’t for everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,731 ✭✭✭bren2001

The difficulty is, at the time the new deal was rolled out, the wording was odd on the website. A few people rang up, myself included, to be told the deal was not fixed rate and that the rate could be increased if pass through charges increased. Hence, it is fixed with some exceptions. I think other people rang up at the time to be told something different but I'd have to read back over the thread from that time.

That was April (memory might be wrong on that). They have since redesigned the website and the T&C's have also been updated. Hence, there may not be one answer for everyone. People on this plan were not affected by the recent FloGas increase.

I don't think anyone claimed its a true variable rate but fixed rate with certain conditions that may lead to a change in that rate.

the sign up letter just said the discount was fixed

I think it always said that and everyone here always ignored it. Standard letter.

What's the difference between BWG Flogas and the usual Flogas?

Just a special offer for BWG employees that anyone can sign up for. Same way people refer to Energia Axa (Energia your supplier but special rate for Axa customers).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,232 ✭✭✭ablelocks

discounted 24hr fixed smart rate isn't much higher as it turns out - 26.03c

its really the BWG Smart Day Night rate that has a significant reduction

Me too,I switched from Energia to BG over a week ago but haven't heard anything back yet,I might ring them and I might not?🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,413 ✭✭✭5500

I had renewed with energia 11 days ago, 26% duel discount which was down on previous year but stuck none the less, called them this morning to inform id be switching, they couldn't do anything regarding discount but offered €100 credit added to the account, factoring in the increase ect it didnt really amount to much so have gone to EI

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,857 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

ringing tk let them know your switching never works out well these days, when a switch has been started they sometimes call to try and keep you but rarely have a good offer

did you find out what it says? Ive only realised now I signed up to a €75 cash bonus on my second bill but it never arrived. Would be good to know the t&cs of the cashback as they never sent me a contract either.
