No, that's not a cluster fly - cluster flies are black and kinda fatter. There are a lot of those you pictured around at the moment, I don't know what they are though I have a notion they might be cattle or pasture related - I'm not sure where I got that notion from, could be wrong. We haven't had swarms of them though, just a few at any one time.

We were the same only ours were upstairs.there were about 100 or so in the attic and 8-9 in some rooms upstairs on any given day. i basically went to attic and sprayed the lot. left the ones in the rooms upstairs alone as didnt want to spray the rooms. ater a few days they had all gone, and nothing since.

Will resurrect this thread to give my experience. About 3 weeks ago there were about 10/15 flies in a "cluster" in my apt hall. I just vacuumed them up. Then yesterday, the 7th, I went into the kitchen at 11am and noticed about 15 clustered around the door frame.

Over the next 90 minutes, I sprayed raid on many and also vacuumed up about 60/70 at least. Went out from 2pm to 7pm thought it would be like a horror movie when I got back but I only had about another 15.

24 hours later I'm resigned myself to trying to live in harmony with them as much as possible. No idea where they are getting in. Spent an hour googling solutions and of course with Brexit it's a pain to get stuff from the UK.

I found a place in Ireland selling this "residual" stuff, so I hope that by using that it will mean less work of spraying every couple of weeks instead of spraying each individual fly. It looks like I'm going to have them for a long time.

I'm in a 20 yr old apt, top floor, and the roof of my block, so above me, was repaired about 18 months ago, I wonder if that has anything to with it. No velux windows, the insulation round window frames is **** enough, well build quality in general is a bit sh!tty like most apts round the country.

Bedrooms north facing thank God. Also these flies have no interest in rotting food, rubbish etc, they just want the warmth. Could be worse but man I wish they would just fupp off, they have made their point at this stage.

Over the last month or so, I've been tortured with a lot of tiny little flies in the house, mostly the kitchen.

These are only little specks of things, but they seem to be never ending. Im spraying dozens of them every day.

Same here. I have a waste food caddy, and they were coming from there.

I moved the caddy outdoors, which has helped (hasn't eliminated them though - they come out of the rubbish bin too)

I keep a fruit bowl out on the counter, and i suspect thats what attracts most of them.

Plus the bin in the utility room off the kitchen

Anything to do with food even tea bags will attract them and now put food waste into a snap top container and will empty it into compost bin. I have also got a zapper in the kitchen but not plugged yet.

Fungus gnats are a curse but love yellow sticky strips.

Sound more like fruit flies or fungus gnats you got going on than cluster flies

Great way to get rid of fruit flies - put out a bowl with apple cider vinegar with a small bit of washing up liquid. Attracts flies and they will get caught when they go into the apple cider vinegar. Using it for the past week, amazing how many it traps.
