    Thats not how disease works.
Herd immunity requires a certain percentage of people get vaccinated. For Measles, it's 95%, for Polio, it's 80%

If fewer than 80% of people get Polio vaccines, the disease can take root and spread in a population, causing long term incurable disability amongst everyone who gets infected with it.

We saw how devastating this disease was, the world worked extremely hard to eradicate this disease, so much that it only exists in pakistan and Afghanistan, and could be eradicated with a final push. But instead, the absolute dickheads in the US government, are pulling back resources from global vaccination plans, and reversing support for vaccines in their own country.

Millions of people will suffer because of these idiots.

And yet I bet you, dollars to donuts, that when asked who they trust more with the economy in the 2028 election they will say Republicans.

I said it before and I'll say it again now.

I never thought there was anything of interest in the Epstein files, until I saw Trump's reaction to the calls for their release.

Who will he blame for the economy? The Chinese? The Deep State? The ,Lamestream media?

This was anticipated but the actual tarrif rates for now are less than threatened and so there was (still is?) a question as to whether they can be absorbed without an insane level of reaction.

Still, losing the goodwill of a country like India would imo be enough of a blow to America's own self interest to make the game not worth the candle even if Trump was able to transition America to S-hole State without dropping into the abyss.

The knock on effect from this is where it begins to get scary all over again.

People lose jobs, then they miss payments on things like cars, houses, credit cards. Debts build up, then you get defaults…the same song and dance from before.

Unfortunately, when America sneezes, the world gets a cold. We could be in for a bumpy one, but it will be Bidens fault.

And Trump wants other countries to invest in the USA:

I'd love to see Hyundai pull the plug completely.

Maybe Donne thinks that there is a Nobel War Prize,

    https://edition.cnn.com/2025/09/04/politics/department-of-war-trump-executive-order

Maybe Norway should award him one.

Viruses much like fascism need people with living memory of consequences to stop them.

Ireland has an exceptionally high vaccine take up because we have all heard first hand stories of the power of vaccines against things like polio and TB in a country poor enough to be ravaged by them.

We are now at the point where the last WWII soldiers are dying and more industrialised countries have had top quality healthcare beyond living memory. All this means idiots are starting to not learn from history.

More likely Russian ground troops would walk towards any foreign troops to surrender rather than go backwards and have Putin's "elite" troops pick them off as kills.

How do MAGA morons square that circle when they read the likes of the above I wonder?

The facility is part of what would be the biggest industrial investment in the state’s history and had been hailed as a huge boost for the economy by Georgia’s Republican governor, Brian Kemp.

I believe the investment was around $8Bn…this has to be the biggest form of self sabotage on record.

Was there another serious option, IDA were in serious competition from other EU countries, at the time, UK in particular.

Nobody saw a Trump type guy (c""t) back then.

After the meet in China, I'd weigh off the three main leaders having had a private meeting in respect to the war in Ukraine. N/K has already lost around a thousand of its military in that war. China has a long border with Russia along with the sea of Japan route from Vladivostok. Xi doesn't have to provide actual boots on the ground to Russia for active use in Ukraine, it can provide materiel which would relieve stress on Russia's home munition and armoured fighting vehicles production.

An update on Putin's comments about European troops being in Ukraine as part of the peace deal Trump and Europe were trying to engage in post any peace deal between the warring parties.: Speaking in Vladivostok, Putin – who claims that Ukraine’s intention to join Nato is the reason his forces invaded – said: “If some troops appear there, especially now, during military operations, we proceed from the fact that these will be legitimate targets for destruction.”

On a tangent, I listened to the book, Everything is Tuberculosis, by John Green, recently. Really enjoyable, but one of the points made in it concerns how the TB vaccine isn't particularly effective at all. Something like 50% and it declines significantly over time iirc.

Just pure insanity to be undoing the heroic efforts to eradicate some of the most lethal diseases in human history.

Mostly because it's unneeded due to high uptake in a well educated population.

If it dropped significantly, there would be calls to make it mandatory.

What you should be asking yourself is why it was made mandatory when only really dumb people refuse vaccines.

He really is doing some job of trying to poison US relations with all its closest allies. It will be his main lasting achievement I think.

I suppose the nice letters written to the main man from Kim, and beautiful portrait(s) from Putin are far more of a strategic national interest for the USA under Trump!

CNN is covering an extension of the NYC Mayoral election story in which Trump has allegedly offered one of the candidates (apparently the incumbent) the ambassadorship (to Saudi Arabia) if he withdraws from the race, leaving only the Republican candidate Sliwa and the other two, Cuomo and Mandami. Apparently Trump, and therefor the GOP, does not want Mandami in the seat at all costs.

I am not sure how high the NYC mayorship stands in respect to U.S national electoral matters; as being 2nd in importance place after the presidency. Does it hold much power and sway in that arena?

Its absolutely nuts. Hyundai are not going to be hiring undocumented immigrants to work in their high tech car assembly plants. They are almost certainly ISO 27001 certified facilities that require 'people controls' that require processes to ensure all employees are screened and have valid contracts and right to work (otherwise there is a massive risk to the information security from employees being vulnerable to phishing or insider threats)

I'm in the middle of a ISO 27001 audit at the moment in a small tech company, and we're making sure every single employee's contract and background checks and documentation are all fully compliant

Its massive, I'd say the 3 most crucial positions in the US at the moment:

    President of US
    Governor of California
    Mayor of New York

(I know there are other positions like speaker of the house, fed reserve chairman, majority leader etc, but these are basically fully controlled by Trump (or will be soon enough)

Florida and Texas are already competing to see who can lick Trumps balls sensually enough

If Trump can get a republican in power in NYC it would be a big step on the way to the transition to fascism without splitting the Union

There is great competition for the most loathsome person among the Trump cabinet and administration

Karolying Leavitt for her brazen lying and contemptuous treatment of the press

Pete Hegseth for his outright arrogance and superiority complex during a mediocre performance

Pam Bondi for her sycophancy and incompetence

Kristi Noem just hasn't got a clue

Howard Lutnick for thinking he can bluster his way whilst spouting bullsh*t and wildly gesturing with his hands

Scott Bessant, an upmarket version of Lutnick, which is not a complement

RFK for his ignorance andespousing conspiracy theories in relation to vaccines

Tom Homan for his inhumane treatment of suspected illegals

JD Vance. His tag teaming with Trump to attack Zelensky should go down as one of the most despicable actions in US foreign relations. He has backed that up by talking down and criticizing EU allies.

Stephen Millar. The Goebbels of the administration. Spews hatred and demonizes opponents with vicious lies. An evil man

DJ Trump though has to get the prize. He encompasses all the bad attributes of his staff. Lies, threats, bullying, hateful and spiteful comments, wooing of dictators, treasonous actions, support of Israel's actions in Gaza, his treatment of Ukraine, his antagonism of allies. The worst president in the history of the US and it is not even close

A good summary of this Confederancy of Dunces. But you missed out on Tulsi Gabbard: way up there with the worst of them. It might be useful to put them into a few categoriies: Drunks and Clowns (Hegseth, Nutlick); Crazy and Conspirisist (RFK, Gabbard); Dumb bootlickers (Bondi, Noem, Leavitt); EVIL (Miller, Homen)

It would take longer than that. It takes a few years for the effects of unvaccinated children today, to manifest in the population, and then, it will first begin to affect children and babies, not the old arsehole trump supporters who were themselves vaccinated as children.

Vaccination takes leadership, foresight. To start and fund programs now, that will show results in a generation.

The trump administration shows a different kind of foresight. They deliberately ignore the science about healthcare and public health etc. They do not want healthy children, safe secure citizens, a prosperous middle class, an equal society. Their long term goals are very **** dark. They are preparing for some kind of dystopia. (they know its happening because they're making it happen)
