Epstein victims' lawyer: "While we have seen the documents, you haven't. When you see the documents, you're going to be appalled. The American people deserve to see everything. Evil flourishes in the darkness. If you care about these women, about our country, and about this issue, this should pass with flying colors.

Ask yourself - why won’t this White House release the Epstein files? What are they hiding?"

    This isn't going away.

You know full well that it is what Trump would have originally wanted as well.

Probably crying into his nappy as we speak.

the EU will be fine. They have good energy supply agreements with Norway, Canada and the Mid-East. Australia will come on board if needed.

Exept for Ireland, Europe, for the most part, are currently up-scaling their defenses through NATO agreements (with or without NATO, this is a good thing).

They have no tariff problems with China.

These are the same victims that conservatives hinted were being protected by NOT releasing the files.

That was clearly BS. Going to be hard for Trump to pardon Ghilsaine after this press conference by the victims. More power to them, Trump has lost control of the situation. Hard to see him gaining it back, impossible without threats or additional shady actions.

Some female Republicans have signed up to release the files too

Yes. And the person driving the petition is a conservative, Thomas Massie.

But there's a lot of conservatives actively trying to assist Trump in a cover up. That's irrefutable.

China putting on the parade, as they did, with the leaders of Russia and North Korea in attendance is a massive two fingers to the US.

Trumps parade by comparison was like a village council organized it and Putin standing with Xi a few weeks after Trump spouted waffle about he was pressuring him to make a deal makes Trump look very weak.

I'd say the only reason for the Chinese parade was to annoy Trump.

In fairness even we are upgrading ours. It's just an upgrade from very little to a tiny bit above very little but we are finally planning for jets and modern radar.

The name of the game, Trump family richer by $5bn, most of it is paper but they are total insiders and will gradually cash out and hype again and again.

The "we know who's on the list" quote should unsettle anyone who was relying on a Maxwell/Trump silence deal. The fury of a woman scorned should be pale against the number of Epstein's former masseuses.

He wanted that exact parade 😀 id say he's livid

Yes, unfortunately their dumb voters won't see it till it is much too late (if ever!).

Perhaps when their kids find themselves fighting and dying as pawns in some superpower struggle directed by the true rulers overseas (in Washington or Beijing or New Dehli!) as has been fate of unlucky small countries in South Amercia, ME and Africa in 20th C, but not Western European countries as yet…

The politicians like Farage, Orbán etc. would much rather rule as someone else's corrupt local baron, in control of their fiefdom, while they do obeisance to the real powers (Trump's US, Xi's China etc) than cooperate through the existing structures like the EU or new ones developed for challenges facing us. They are useless IMO + will sell all of us down the river.

He didn't get shot. He didn't win. He's in the Epstein files. He is the Epstein files.

Maybe I'm being a bit naive, but I'm beginning to sense that this time, just maybe, his lifetime of criminality and cheating and conniving is catching up with him and a glorious downfall is finally and unstoppably on the horizon.

If the Democrats had a lick of sense, they'd shut down the government over the Epstein files

Yup. My guess — and it can be no more than that — is that the US operation was something similar, except that they prioritised drama over cost efficiency.

A no-warning lethal attack conducted on the high seas by US forces against a non-US-flagged vessel on the grounds that the vessel was believed to be carrying narcotics would be unlawful. Rubio's reference to the White House counsel suggests that legal advice was taken, and this is what the advice would have said. Rubio could of course be lying or misleading, but there is no reason to think so.

It seems to me that Trump seems not to be implicated in anything that is known to the victims but that if the information that they do have is made public then those who are implicated will have their own defences to lay out -and Trump may well be caught up in this unravelling.

Else why his reluctance to let justice play out (as his appointees promised)?

He is acting guilty but I am not sure what he might be guilty of.(just being his own shithole self is guilty enough for me but perhaps there is something specific in this case and it would,of course be very satisfying to see him caught up in it )

Ps can he deflect his way out of this by stirring up civil disorder in democrat cities?

Trump used to speak frequently of meeting people with tears in their eyes, often moved by something he said. Apparently that wasn’t dramatic enough. Now they often have tears coming down their eyes, rather than their cheeks or faces, although how they manage that isn’t explained.

The rise of Trump reflects the Right's frustration with 60 years of losing the cultural battles. The Dobbs's decision overturning Roe v Wade is part of a reaction against that. The attacks on voting rights started with the Shelby County SCOTUS decision in 2012, which removed the DOJ's veto on changes in electoral laws in states and localities with a history of racial disenfranchisement.

Also there is a rise in White Nationalism. Taboos like questioning Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights movement are being broken e.g. Charlie Kirk saying the Civil Rights Act was wrong and opposing Martin Luther King Day being a public holiday. Trump removed the bust of MLK from the Oval Office. During his first term there were rumours he had done this, which were untrue, but I suspect it was considered, given what has now happened.

Trump is a symptom of this, not the underlying cause. There are similar issues in countries like France, and the rise of the AFD in Germany. The current Italian government comes from the Far Right, though there are too Far Right parties in the government and they don't necessarily agree on everything (one has a pro-Russian history, the main one is pro-Ukraine).

The US primary system has weakened political "gatekeepers" who were party bosses who could keep the extremes out of influence in the Republican Party. Many Establishment Republicans opposed to the growth of the Far Right were pushed out in Trump's first term, such as Senator Bob Corker, Senator Jeff Flake, Senator Ben Sasse in Nebraska. In his second term, Senator Mitt Romney didn't run again in 2024, and former GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is retiring in 2026.

The two US parties were more ideologically diverse in the Civil Rights era. More Republicans than Democrats voted for the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Act in the Congress. House Republical Leader Everett Dirksen played an important role in that. But in 1964 the party embarked on the policy of pandering to anti Civil Rights discourse in the White South. It was unfortunately electorally successful in Presidential elections. The question was, could this be sustained when the US increasingly non-White?

In 2016, Hillary Clinton's campaign made the mistake of ignoring the largely white states in the Rust Belt states, assuming this was yesterday's electorate and the "diverse" states would now elect liberal candidates. This backfired as Whites are still 70% of the electorate, and about 60% of them vote Republican. Even in Obama's landslide in 2008, he only vote 43% of the White vote. Some advisors begged her to campaign in the Blue Wall states but she refused until the final days of the campaign.

I think Hillary Clinton lacks her husband's political skills. He moved to the Centre (which I accept is much more rightwing in the US than in Europe) and won conservative states like Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana and West Virginia. Thats unthinkable today. They have a shot in North Carolina because Biden only lost it by 1%. Virginia has changed dramatically because of the DC civil servants and agency workers living in its northern counties, which led to Obama winning it in 2008 for the first time for a Democrat since 1964.

Wouldn't worry them at this point. Clinton's been out of office for a quarter of a century and has negigible political salience. If trashing his reputation is a by-product of exposing Trump's involvement in the sexual abuse of minors, they would do that in a heartbeat.

If they had the ability to shut it down I'm sure they would but they don't so a moot point really.

For me, there are two likely scenarios that explain why Trump is so determined to not release the files.

1- Some of his major financial backers are named and he's protecting them

2- The dates, names, places and events described will make it clear that he knew exactly what Epstein was doing all along and did absolutely nothing about it.

In fact it's probably a bit of both.

What is abundantly clear is that Trump and/or his inner circle come out very very badly and it's also likely that even if some Democrats (Clinton perhaps) are exposed, the risk of damage to Team Trump is so huge they can't risk releasing the files to damage the other side.

GQP will be obsessed with Clinton's junk until he dies. They'd put it in a museum if they could. Dragging him up has only one purpose - keep their base reminded that the Democrats aren't perfect - which they don't claim to be, but that's the message GQP leadership peddles very successfully, and use it to excuse their own many, many, many pecadillos, CFTrump's a glaring example but he's far from alone, even long before Epstein showed up. Only a GQPer would use a phrase like "Saint Bill." No POTUS is a saint, far from it.
