Can I ask more on the campervan tickets please? Is it one bundle to get the weekend festival ticket along with a campervan pass?

Or do you have to buy your weekend ticket and then buy a campervan one separately? It was like this for Forest Fest so don't want to end up in the wrong queue!!!

consumer choice, given ability to resell EP tickets in seconds you aren’t stuck with them.

Tbh the complaints that are festival related are recycling of acts which given how many people went to see those recycled acts means there is massive appetite for those lazy bookings.

As for Food that’s greed on FR, they have ostracised a lot of good vendors with terms and conditions and %.

as for indie acts in it’s a death spiral, no point booking them to play empty tents.

Complaining about superman's and Eddie rockets is odd, it's not like there weren't dozens and dozens of other options, hell they probably made other queues shorter

Everything I ate bar one item (loaded fries, a bit pricey for what it was, but it did the job), was broadly excellent quality and variety. Big blue bus, kinara, little dumpling, one of the Mexican places, and a BBQ place or two, was all lovely

I probably had more fun this year than in quite a number of EP's, because I managed to get around nearly every single stage, even got a food pub quiz in which is a fun change of pace. I will say that the main stage is a bit meh, not enough speakers further towards the back for the larger gigs

Ill be going again next year without a doubt. Toilets and showers also vastly improved, and no mud to be found for the most part anywhere bar near moonlight meadows

Is €18 for a pizza that insane really when FR put essentially a 30% mark up on all food?

Also, Sam Fender (not terrible, but like, why?)

He's massive, sells out stadiums regularly in England, hardly a surprise as to why he was booked?

He and basically all others drew massive main stage crowds, very few complaints (apart from a few on here) about the weekend bar the volume of crowds leaving after some main stage performances.

Was that the food quiz where they had people peeling ginger for one of the rounds? Such a random but fun quiz.

Sound at the back of the main stage area was terrible. Smirnoff were drowning it out. Would have liked more toilets near the back of the main stage area as it was a trek to try get through the crowds to them.

big blue pizza is €15 in their normal location so €18 for pizza in a field in stradbally with FR % and extra costs seems on the money tbf

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,493 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

Ye that was my thinking. Iirc the pizzas in the Fairview Park gigs were around €18 as well

So regarding next year's headliners, them having 2 of the 3 days sorted. I guess we can mark off Lewis Capaldis being I guess the early evening 2nd headliner of his day.

    Wonder who else

Honestly had a great weekend. The line up and me are only ever gonna get further apart as I age and I've accepted that. You still get a few gems and for the loyalty price I paid vs the amount of acts seen it's decent value.

For 3 days me and the wife get to leave everything at the gate and be the teenagers we fell in love with for a while. Teenagers that like to eat regularly and enjoy a few more sit downs and run into their grown up kid with his mates but you get my meaning.

Young People dominate the demographic but there is still a place for everyone I feel.

That said there's a lot of good points made here about

    1. crowd control site needs to be expanded it's no longer big enough for the crowd and the walking between stages is tight. Trailer Park after main arena finishes for example is way over crowded. Salty Dog is a nightmare with the current set up now thats its technically inside give it the space it deserves Croi is almost a wasted space body and soul used to have very well placed acts to satisfy late night owls. Having been to other similar sized festivals in Europe it just feels so much tighter
    2. Food: way over priced i did have a few lovely things but almost feels like it's the same stuff by a different name every 4 to 5 pitches at the same extremely high prices. The need to have a budget offering akin to Glastonbury
    3. Toilets nice to have the plumbed ones but my wife said that everytime she went alot had no water and were a bit disgusting. The mens had similar issues with the urinals becoming very full. The toilets at electric arena are not fit for purpose at all no where near enough of them.

All that being said I'd gladly take a loyalty if anyone has one going. Work was a **** nightmare the last 2 weeks and forgot to apply 🙃

I had a great weekend as usual.

Saw dj Friday then Saw Doctors, Confidence Man, Barry Can't swim and ended up at the Rave in the Forest til 4. All acts were brilliant but the rave was so busy. Never seen it like that until the next night again when it was busier, still stayed til the end.

Saturday stayed around main stage for the day, enjoyed all the acts but thought Fatboy was brilliant. Went to go live forever but couldn't get near that and then the crowds around there was mental, I'm shocked nothing happened there as everyone was going opposite ways.

Sunday was a bit calmer as Saw David gray( was ok) then went King Kong Company and Jazzy who were both very good.

Went to King's of Leon for a while and then ended up in Pogueology and went to Mother as it was across the way. Saved the walk to the rave in the forest.

Pity the weather Wasn't the greatest Sunday and hope they don't increase the capacity ever again as something bad will definitely happen.

Hopefully Same again next year :)

Florence and the machine and tame impala I’d say are either stradbally bound or doing marlay in the summer. Fred again probably due a return by now.
kingfishr, amble and Cmat doing the big shows next summer rules them out.

It was my first time going to EP with my partner this year. Campervan site was great location. Portaloos were really bad by Sunday but nothing we didn't expect.

In terms of food, I thought most of what we got was fair value and near to Dublin prices. Kinara knocked it out of the park as usual and the portion size was huge. Had a bad experience with a grilled halloumi box on the Friday night - halloumi and pita were lovely but the salad/hummus was very poor but that was on me.

Drink-wise it was expensive when buying at the bar. €10.50 for a vodka and white was ridiculous, clearly far cheaper to bring in from the campsite in a drinks bottle.

Music-wise we had some real highlights every day. No real complaints about acts and we followed our preferences across the site. Felt the green/mindfield/comedy areas were extremely poorly signposted. Croí main stage location was excellent though.

Biggest complaint our end was the lack of security/crowd control which made the main arena feel dangerous, particularly at the outskirts with kids pushing in and out to see their one song. This was very bad on Sunday night during Kings of Leon as gangs left Ewan McVicar to come in for Sex is on Fire. The timing change in the 3 area for BellX1 that night was decent and the tent was packed by the time they finished their set.

Second gripe is the amount of rubbish and single use plastics on site. I saw one of the local GAA clubs say they collected 70K cans for Return scheme for their club development. There had to have been far more than that discarded. The amount of bins and recycling points was not enough for the waste created on site. Bins were overflowing around the main arena area every day by 4pm.

We exited the campervan site before 10am yesterday and hit minor queues leaving but the traffic control was good. Now to try and book again next year!

They really need to reassess their policy on chairs etc. I am 53 and have had recent knee surgery. Not enough to stop me walking or anything but needed a crutch from time to time (Especially as the days and weekend went on). I used my crutch a lot there as I was walking quite a bit. I had one of those collapsible stools. Was using it until Sunday. Was going in on Sunday and was told no way. I had to hobble back to my tent with the stool. The stool had a little foam pad. Brought that back. Went to the same guy. And even THAT he had another look at. Next line over, group of 4 people bringing in chairs each (Not stools). I stand and use my crutch when at any main event or when in a crowd. I use the stool at the likes of survivour or that whole area. Or when I just need a break and go out towards the back and sit and stretch leg.

I get it. Irish people are idiots and there is always going to be SOME idiot who throws something. but there needs to be some consistency in their policing or some form of exception process.

Feels like security was inconsistent. I also use a walking stick, had no issue with that or the mushroom collapsible stool in my backpack. Definitely didn't feel secure using the walking stick in crowds though. It accidentally got kicked from under me a few times from people pushing through it's very scary.

Yes it was! I was peeling one of the gingers hahaha

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,945 ✭✭✭smallgarden

That's probably one of the randomest comments from ep. Hope you got your 5 points. I was worried as ginger can be like chilli if you rub your eyes so it seemed absolute madness! One of the most difficult quizzes with the shittest of prizes ever! Still enjoyed it

Security was a joke. There were barely any bag searches going in from pudo. I don't think EP have ever allowed camping chairs into the arena. Forever young was the first one that I saw who actively encouraged it and had set areas for them. They've really cut back on staff on site since I was last there.

EP has changed man” you would have heard in 2017/2018. I think EP has changed again 2025 vs 2018, I can’t quite put my finger on it!

I met up with an old friend who has been living in Aus for nearly 11 years, his first EP was 05, last EP was 2014 before leaving, with some In between. So needless to say 2025 was a shock to the system, we’ve had a series of slow cuts over time, he had a full and sudden beheading!!

Why are there so many ppl! “Double the amount since I was last here in the same main arena area, this is fcuking dangerous”

Why are so many going to see these sh1te acts on the main stage and barely going to other stages.

    The fcuking saw doctors!! Seriously

Who da fcuk is amble and Kingfisher!

Why can’t I bring cans to the SD!

    Why is it sooo expensive!

Why are all the camp sites so far away, last time I camped where Freetown is!

Croi is a half baked B&S

Where do new artists feature at EP!

Nobody interacts in the camp site (pink moon), zero banter everyone largely just sticks to themselves (Very different to early years) if you attempt to talk to them they look at you as if ur some rando homeless druggy outside Tesco! Eerily soulless, organised and tidy.

Why is there so many commercial stages & why are they so well attended!

The poor man retreated to the tent early at one point & that’s not like him!

I know time moves on + there are a multitude of different factors, I think we can all have a go at answering etc… I’m sharing as I thought his experience was a brilliant contrast to the regular loyal go’er!

Very valid points, obvious and ridiculous clashes for hugely talented lesser well known acts. Rebecca from self Esteem opened with “Hello Ireland thank you so much for coming to see us, thank fcuk you did” clearly hinting at the Chappel Roan clash! If ATN were sharp they’ll pick her up and she’ll be adored there!! Biig Piig was another who had to go head to head with Cranberries/RTE/Dermo, she still smashed it!!

Going back to what @Mucker46 said about getting his son to “research” the lineup, I think this is a genuine issue, “you don’t know what you’re missing” a huge factor in this is EP realising the full line up so late, realistically you get a couple of weeks to really get to grips with a vast playlist, it not easy to listen to one song from an unknown artist and make a call, you need time (well I do anyway)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,075 ✭✭✭✭Seathrun66

Indie acts always did well at EP, in fact the very foundation of the festival. I can also safely assume that indie acts like For Those I Love, These Charming Men & Viagra Boys did pretty okay but they weren't on the main two stages.

Hip-hop, reggae, African, heritage and other eclectic acts have also been historically successful with crowds. The issue lies with skewering the main arena towards bland anodyne pop. You end up getting the crowd you wish to attract and thus the more adventurous and challenging acts no longer have an audience. Glasto manages a balance of acts to suit all. As does FR's own Latitude. Primavera Sound and countless others. Why can't EP? The curation ain't difficult, it's just sheer indolence. And alas that ain't changing.

So to summarise lads, it was primarily crowds crowds crowds crowds crowds. Accurate? Haven't been since 2022, FOMO every year beforehand and generally after reading the reviews but not this year. Still waiting for @rubick to drop his thoughts for 2025 but I think I'm well out of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,075 ✭✭✭✭Seathrun66

I'd be astonished if earlier in the year the Fontaines hadn't been booked to headline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 2,169 ✭✭✭Mucker46

I think a lot of less well known bands lose out by late releases. Not only is there less time but if other areas have released a bit earlier you will start to fill your card for the weekend and are less inclined to research. I went to 11 acts I had never heard of or listened to before and some of them were the best acts I saw all weekend so research pays off just wish I had more time as may have found more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,075 ✭✭✭✭Seathrun66

First two named acts, Florence and Tame Impala are indie rock/indie psychedelia acts, they just got big. Fontaines very likely I'd guess so fair chance there are a couple of indie headliners. Not had that since 2022.

Hopefully that'll set the tone for the festival and a more eclectic lineup awaits. 😁 My naivety is boundless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 506 ✭✭✭TenPicnics

Self Esteem played ATN in 2022 at the Something Kind of Wonderful marquee, she and her cast of dancers went down quite well I thought. ATN over its 6 years has had quite a few of the acts that also crop up at EP.

we had this conversation for years, that audience has left the festival. Been years and years of “indie” acts playing to no one in Cosby and rankin woods.
FR getting rid of a tent is a clear sign that they’ve realised that it was wasted effort.
the way that festival fees have grown for top talent the money previously spent on that tent needs to be redirected to the Sam fenders or chappelle roans or the big djs in terminus

there is literally nothing to be gained from booking those type of acts again. Do you think self esteem enjoyed playing to little to no one?
