I wouldn’t regard €809 as acceptable, keep searching or use a broker to do the legwork for you.

I have checked with bonkers and it's giving me the same quote I did with Aviva. I tried Chill and AA both coming back 1.2k! Such robbers!

Maybe consider a different make/model of EV if it’s not too late ?

800 is expensive, but it's a brand new car we are talking about, right? I'm sure if you change to an E-Tron or anything in that category of vehicle, the price will be equally as high. Before ordering an EV, make sure you can have a charge point installed.

Lots of EV owners are insuring brand new cars for less than €400.

I'm with Aviva and mine was €360 on the Model Y standard range. I get a discount as we've the house insurance and the missus car too.

I've the exact same... 2 new EV cars and the house (plus free travel insurance) with Aviva. My car is a MY rwd,and it's €310, the Mrs has the new Kona, and that's €324. All are claim free, no accidents or penalty points etc…plus I've got additional discount for IAM advanced driving course. They actually have to add on a small amount to bring mine up to the min annual charge of 310...

No doubt. I’m pretty sure my own premium with the M3 when I bought it was at the 400 mark. But, sometimes if people are moving from a 5k banger to a 50k new car, that attracts a premium. Insurance companies aren’t charitable. Their premiums often make no sense. For example; I used to get TPFT in my first few years, but always asked what the price of fully comp was. Fully comp was about 25% less on one occasion, so I went with it. It was more than 100 quid less iirc.

    MYP prices this morning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,998 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

All these low quotes are rural quotes it's worth mentioning. Urban prices in Dublin at least are definitely elevated.

Gumbo's is an edge case and not a standard setup as he has explained before.

New power train, new battery chemistry, increased range and some interior tweaks like bigger screen.

Can’t wait to see this in the flesh!

    Performance-Focused Design

In addition to the features that come standard on all Model Y vehicles—such as a panoramic glass roof with acoustic glass throughout the cabin, an 8” second-row touchscreen, power-reclining second-row seats, Autopilot, over-the-air software updates and more—new Model Y Performance adds:

    • Front and rear fascias upgraded for high-speed performance
    • New 21” Arachnid 2.0 forged wheels with integrated aero covers for improved efficiency
    • Performance red brake calipers
    • Liftgate with Performance badging
    • Puddle lamps with illuminated Performance badging
    • Glossy black finishes on front fascia, rear fascia and mirror caps
    • Carbon fiber spoiler for enhanced high-speed stability
    • First-row Performance seats with powered thigh cushion extenders
    • Carbon-fiber dash and door trim inserts
    • Aluminum pedals

These upgrades give Model Y Performance a distinct look, making it recognizable on the road while staying true to Tesla’s sleek and functional signature design. The new front and rear fascias, new rear diffuser and carbon-fiber spoiler work together to create greater downforce, resulting in 10% less drag and 64% reduced lift for a 27% improvement overall in front-to-rear lift balance compared to earlier Model Y Performance vehicles.

An upgraded battery pack equipped with new cells offering higher energy density without adding weight. New Model Y Performance delivers 460HP, accelerates from 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 155 mph. It achieves a consumption of 26.07 kWh/100 mi, unlocking 360 miles WLTP of range, making it one of the most efficient performance EVs available on the road today.

Also borrowed from Model 3 Performance is our proprietary adaptive suspension technology. Designed in-house by our engineering and software teams, tailored specifically for new Model Y Performance, an all-new control algorithm delivers a balanced ride and handling character optimized for all driving scenarios. The next-generation ride controller has been engineered to deliver a smoother, more refined ride while enhancing handling. Our teams pushed industry standards to create an adaptive suspension system that adjusts in real-time to driver and road inputs, expanding the vehicle’s performance envelope and capability.

All-new 21" Arachnid 2.0 Wheels, paired with new staggered tires, work with the adaptive suspension to provide drivers with smooth, precise control and a responsive driving experience. The tires not only enhance handling but also deliver a more comfortable, quieter ride with improved range. Full dynamic potential is unlocked with upgraded knuckles and refined kinematics.

New Model Y Performance benefits from upgraded chassis hardware that matches the increased performance of the powertrain. New springs, stabilizer bars and bushings result in a chassis that feels more intuitive and responsive. The front suspension geometry is designed to minimize disturbances from road imperfections and provide more predictable steering. Improvements to the rear body structure increase torsional stiffness.

    Oct/Nov delivery apparently-  €61,990

    @MarkN , letting the side down 😂

The media really should know the proper price of these cars.

It’s €67,650 for the base performance on the road. It’s on the main page as you select the options.

You need to ignore the headline price on their webpage and look further down the screen to the end price inc. VAT etc

My stuff on Adverts, mostly Tesla Pre Highland Model 3

6.2% APR for PCP or HP, gonna be hard to justify that when the LR is 0% and the RWD are 0.99%

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,022 ✭✭✭JOL1

The way Tesla represent things always confuses people. The Headline Rate listed for the cars is the rate before several other components (VRT, SEAI etc) so for most cars the actual price is much higher. An exception to this is the basic Model 3 where the cash price is actually lower than the headline price (because there is no VRT and there is an SEAI 3.5K Grant). That said the way they represent pricing will continue to confuse.

you have to think the consumer ombudsman would have been on to them by now, but I suppose it doesn’t affect many people in fairness. Anyone buying a Tesla online has already done their research on the real pricing.

It’s the same way that other brands display their prices. They are technically doing nothing wrong. The price is before doc and delivery, any reliefs and grants and some vat thing.

It’s the same way that BYD always advertise their seal for €46k yet then they tell you about the MSL €1950 delivery and service pack that’s mandatory making it €48k.

It’s the modern way of displaying a price and the. The actual on the road price.

But agree, it’s confusing to anybody that doesn’t know how the car industry works but I’d expect the media guys to know this by now. They do the same on their YY videos, not just Mark, DoneDeal guy and Nevo guy too.
