I've had a family member win and it came up as 'Unknown Number' on his phone.

I heard them say on the radio before about a private number too.

I'm only back online now Frank so only seeing your message now.

I posted a few months ago how my brothers partners friend won €70k in October. Got a call from a private number shortly after 3pm. He called his wife after the cash call still not fully believing he won it and it was only when he heard it back on the radio it fully sunk in.

The only dj I've heard mention they ring on an unknown number is Ray Foley.

When was the last time they had daily calls instead of just Friday calls?

Also I see there's another "across the go loud network" competition for concert tickets.

    This too shall pass.

I am fed up listening to competitions on Irish radio stations.

They are obsessed by them. Not just the commercial ones, but rte too.

There must be a serious amount of people entering this now, as any time I hear the total being announced it seems to be huge figures.

Ha,ha.Do you think I'd believe their answer? If I even got one.

How does it work getting the money? They say the money goes in that afternoon. The only way to do that is hand over your bank details over the phone which we are always told not to do or am I being to simplistic. It could be anyone at the other end of the call.

Nobody can take anything out of your account with just your account number/ BIC IBAN. They'd need additional proof they're the account holder.

    This too shall pass.

I looked into this a bit but none of the regulators seem interested.

One question how can they give out their higher amounts of around 50 to 100k? Would this not go against the National lottery's license?

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

The difference "in law" is that GoLoud operate a game of skill, whereas a lottery is a game of chance. The skill is remembering the correct amount when they call you, it's seemingly not important that the call you get in order to demonstrate this skill is one of chance.

They are sailing very close to the wind, as do many other TV and radio competitions where the skill is to pick between a very obvious correct answer and a completely ludicrous one.

Whatever about one off competitions for small prizes, the continuous, ubiquitous and highly repetitive nature of the Cash Machine makes it potentially as addictive as straight out gambling. At some point there will be legislative change, but in the mean time it's a machine that prints cash for Bauer.

Won't happen without complaints, and the regulators aren't going to investigate them or it seems review the game.

I thought this was all supposed to be good after the axing of TV3's "quiz show" and "medium" programmes.

GoLoud hitting me with emails about tomorrow's cash machine. There's no getting away from it. I've given up entering though, waste of money

Just unsubscibe your email address if you don't want to be bothered by them.

The worst thing for gamblers and the best thing for Bauer is that Ireland is so small that just like the online raffle sites, almost everyone knows of someone who has won a decent sum. This is different to the lotto in that you don't know of many people who have won decent sums.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,272 ✭✭✭patrickc

I don't know any, but know plenty who enter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,145 ✭✭✭RoTelly

There must be some issue with this competition for the holders of the lotto license.

I know more people who have won a ''decent sum'' in the lotto than the Cash Machine etc Also what's a ''decent sum''?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,939 ✭✭✭cms88

What do you mean there must be a issue? Because you say there is one?

As conspiracy theories in Ireland go in recent years the Cash Machine has to be one of the best. People claiming it's staff who win because they don't ask for the people's details on air. Yet these same people would be the first to complain if their own details were given out. Saying because they don't know someone who won it then it has to be fixed.

Not sure the lotto is a good comparison to make. I'd say your odds of winning are roughly the same

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,145 ✭✭✭RoTelly

I am saying that the owners of the National Lottery may have an issue with a daily prize worth in excess of 10k, when they hold the lotto licence. that it may infringe on that licence.

Then you go into a diatribe about a conspiracy theory.

My point is mainly here is a national public service broadcaster running competition which could clearly impact people in terms of Gambling, there have to be rules on such games.

Hopefully both the CnaM and ComReg review the game and the winners of the game as the regulators. And that audits are carried out.

    Don't think so.

There has to be a winner with the CM. With the lotto, there doesn't.

"Public service broadcaster"? Pretty sure they are a private commercial entity and unfortunately have their own money concerns as they were forced to admit to comreg the revenue from the competition is paying the wages.

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,145 ✭✭✭RoTelly

There license is as a public service broadcasters, something the IBI go on about all their members how wonderful they are as public service broadcasters. It's reallly just a cash machine for Pat Kenny… oh! how he has lowered himself.

And TV3 gave the same excuse about their competition back in the day.

The Cash Machine is on all the Bauer-owned radio stations in Ireland, and not just a "national" station.
