And gotta laugh at the suggestion that cancer treatment in Gaza is the same as in Egypt. Woefully ignorant.

Cause when I walk around the oncology department of my local hospital, Everyone looks like a holocaust victim.

    Disgusting genocide apologism.

The same kind of 'gotcha' bullshit as saying 'that baby didn't die from malnutrition, they died because of Microcephaly (ignoring the fact that the microcephaly was probably caused because the pregnant mother was severely malnourished)

It is absolutely not the same, in Egypt, the hospital isn't struggling to find anaesthetic to dull the pain for children who are having limbs amputated.

In Gaza, there is a massive shortage of medical supplies (as reported by pretty much every single western doctor who has been able to volunteer in there) and the cause is clear. Israel are deliberately preventing those supplies from entering Gaza, and have also directrly attacked every single hospital in Gaza, many of them have been attacked multiple times. Many doctors have been murdered. Some have been executed, having been found shot with their arms and legs tied together…

So, no, cancer treatment in Gaza is probably not 'about the same' as treatment in Egypt.

Never mind the fact that the chances of getting diagnosed with a complex disease like cancer in Gaza is practically zero when the symptoms of cancer are the same as the symptoms of severe acute malnutrition that the majority of people are suffering with on a daily basis. (even if diagnostic equipment and doctors were available, which they aren't)

What is the objective of 'shunning' if not to make it shameful to support this shameful act.

I don't think it would be hard to implement at all

If you are Israeli, You are welcome to compete in any international sporting event but not under the flag of Israel. The people who are proud to represent Israel at this moment in time, should be pariahs. (team sports should be allowed but only if the team play in modified jerseys where they clearly protest the genocide.)

Music and cultural events, if the artist is an outspoken genocide supporter, they should be cancelled, if they speak out against the genocide, they should be applauded.

Individuals and private citizens, if they are outwardly displaying symbols that indicate support of Israel, they should expect a cold reception everywhere they go. extra security checks at airports, poor service in hotels and restaurants and generally to be refused welcome wherever they go.
If they are proudly jewish but also displaying pro-palestinianian or anti genocide symbolism, then they should be welcomed and elevated.

An israeli musician who supports the genocide should be cancelled. An israeli musician who speaks out against the genocide should be promoted.

Sure, this would be hard to legislate for, in a world where robots need to follow logical gateways, but in a human world, where people can make judgements on a case by case basis, it should not be hard.

Do you a have a problem with the malicious lies of the IDF and Israeli government? Maybe I missed those posts where you criticised them. I hope you're not another one of these hypocrites who doesn't mind malicious lies when it's convenient for you to do so.

More on RTE - four less journalists to report on the Final Solution….

Israeli strikes on Nasser Hospital in Gaza have killed at least 15 people, including four journalists, one of whom worked for Reuters and one who worked for Al Jazeera.

Palestinian health officials confirmed the death toll this morning.

Cameraman Hussam al-Masri, a Reuters contractor, was killed in the first strike, according to the officials.

Photographer Hatem Khaled, who was also a Reuters contractor, was wounded in a second strike, the officials said.

Al Jazeera said one of its journalists, Mohammad Salama, a photojournalist and cameraman, was killed.

And this from the BBC - confirming the normal MO of the IDF - strike, then strike gain at the rescuers/responders

Several people were killed in an initial strike, and others in a second which happened as rescuers attended the scene, the Hamas-run Civil Defence said.

A journalist on RTE Radio pointed out the secondary attack on rescue teams is a tactic usually favoured by terrorist groups like ISIS in the past.

France has summoned Charles Kushner (father of Jared), who is the US ambassador to France after he published an open letter to Macron in the Wall Street Journal which accused France of a rise in antisemitism and a lack of action against it.

France has hit back to say that the letter 'broke international law' as an interference in the running of the state and that it was an unacceptable move not befitting the quality of the US French relationship as allies.

That's some level of breathtaking arrogance to lecture a country and a government to which you are the ambassador and to do it in such a public forum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭fly_agaric

Pretty much par for the course from the Trump admin.

I get the feeling the purpose of such ambassadors to US allies is going to be to issue the latest diktats, chivvy the host country along and insult them when necessary.

China has its "wolf warrior" diplomats - I wonder what we can call these ones, "screaming screeching eagles" maybe? lol

I remember the outrage from western governments when Russia and Assads regime did this in Syria. Probably crickets from America and Germany over this

It was caught live on TV. Obviously a warning that this is a video of rescue workers being killed by an IDF strike.

I do not deny the humanitarian need in Gaza, but more than one Hamas has been caught using staged and faked photos.

All sides in war use propaganda. We just get one side here.

Presumably a “plague of the firstborn”, is a reference to the Bible account in which God killed the oldest child of every Egyptian family. A bunch of total lunatics really these people

What on earth were they even doing bombing a hospital in the first place after all the global accusations of genocide and war crimes? They are cynical in the extreme.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,315 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Of course they are not savages. They're very apologetic and they mitigate harm. Just like the 15 medics they executed a few months back - and lied through their teeth about it.

    Reported on the BBC

We can now bring you a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which confirms that it carried out a strike in the area of Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza.

"The Chief of the General Staff instructed to conduct an initial inquiry as soon as possible," the statement says, adding that the IDF "regrets any harm to uninvolved individuals and does not target journalists as such".

"The IDF acts to mitigate harm to uninvolved individuals as much as possible while maintaining the safety of IDF troops."

More Journalists killed than in all the wars from 1914 up to now.

"Al Jazeera’s Salama among four Gaza journalists killed in Israeli attack

The attack also killed Reuters photojournalist Hussam al-Masri, as well as journalists Mariam Abu Daqqa and Moaz Abu Taha."

They have a three tiered defence -

    1. Youse just hate the Jews
    2. What about Sudan, Myanamar, Syria, the 1966 World cup?
    3. Youse just hate the Jews

what’s the end result here for Israel?
is it to clear Gaza completely and resettle it with good Israeli settlers? To force Egypt to take in Palestinians, and then continue to ignore world opinion?
there seems to be no plan that is of benefit to Palestinians
