Jackie-O Motherf*cker very good in the Workmans tonight. Three guitarists and a keyboard player doing an hour long set of droning, trippy goodness. Lots of e-bow, slide and tremelo. Occasionally reminiscent of Spiritualized's inter-song spacey noodlings and a percussionless VU. The drumkit that had been sitting ignored on stage eventually got used for the final song, an excellent cover of Kevin Ayers 'Decadence' (a tune that a few here would enjoy if not already familiar with it).

I enjoyed tonight a lot more than The Melvins or Gibby Haynes i must say.

On the bus into town last night, the far-right have hung tricolours on all the lampposts along five lamps. Not good. If I was a person of colour, I would find that intimidating.

However, I was on my way to see Should’ve Signed to the A in Whelan’s. Hanging around the smoking area before they opened the doors, met some of them. SSTTA is a collective of first generation Irish rappers. The coolest, loveliest bunch of kids I’ve met in a long time.

The atmosphere throughout the gig was so chilled, again mostly young first generation crowd, you could have been in New York or LA. Fantastic to be there, just enjoying the music like everyone else. Loved it!

Do what you like far-right, Ireland is now a multicultural melting pot and so much the better for it!

    (And I’ve Signed to the A!) 😉

Enjoy the weekend everyone- it’s Friday!

As I mentioned. Any of the wonderful, fantastic, beautiful human beings who are now welcome here from wherever in the world they want to get away from.

Now go away, your ignorant, small-minded attitude is not welcome here. 🖕

Are you one of those people who thinks it's big and/or clever to say "White Lives Matter"? Because you sure sound like one.

Are you one of those people that just wade in to something that doesn't concern you , and throw in edgy tags??

    Jog on...

Just back from Collins Barracks and The Human League .

Brilliant concert from beginning to end . Great lighting and the acoustics were amazing there love it as a venue .

Set list hit after hit as well as Lebanon , and Being Boiled which was lovely to hear again .

Phil and the two ladies get younger and better every time I see them ( wish we could all say the same 😁)

Predictably older age group but lots of younger age groups there singing away ..almost ...as well.

Supported by Blancmange who were a bit spare tbh but ok .

KingKingfishr - Live at the Docklands -Limerick.

What a gig.. blew the roof off. Such a difference from when i saw them 18mths ago. Great singer , great front man.

Crowd living it and sang along throughout every song. Brought on the wee lad that sang Killeagh when on his holidays , and he was a star..

    Support was great too ,

Dylan Flynn & the Dead Poets , very Sam Fender ish, great guitar driven songs with sexy sax added.

Flyte were a bit pahhhh... 2 lads with a guitar , not many were interested...

*Security - over powered , over indulgent sh1tes... demanding id's, then other id's and then the lads phones and they scrolling through their phones!!!

'You..stop... You stop... picking out people the looked anywhere near 18... and all but demanding to "check their papers"...

Totally ott attitude to teenagers trying to go see a band ... Stasi-esque attitudes by auld lads in viz vests...

Is this the future of going to gigs???

Really enjoyed Matt Berninger last night. Wasn't expecting him to break out into Terrible Love, it was class, raised the roof off Vicar St. Also done a decent cover of Blue Monday. Great night. The new album is pretty good.

The pedant in me demands that i tell you both it's Sweat Loaf (the Buttholes one. BD is correct that Sabbath's original is Sweet Leaf), probably most famous for the intro that Orbital sampled for Satan.

I even annoy myself sometimes with my posts.

The Human League were excellent last night. Sounded great. Collins Barracks is a lovely venue for an outdoor concert and the weather was perfect for it. And also dark when the band came on, which you really need for better atmosphere at outdoor gigs.

Thanks for that. I can only imagine the madness they had to put up with shooting that video. 😝

The joys of being older. Never been asked for ID or frisked. I’d never get in anywhere if they did. 😎

The Kaiser Chiefs are a very good live band,

Employment by the Kaiser Chiefs is a very good album,

Spending a Saturday watching the Kaiser Chiefs perform employment and a few greatest hits was a very good idea.

I remembered Living On The Ceiling and Blind Vision - the first one is rightfully very well known, the latter one I think I only ever saw once on Swap Shop… but the rest was good too.
