Whole House Water Filters – What Do You Use?

Hey folks! I’m looking into getting a whole house water filtration system and would love your input.

    Here’s what I’m curious about:

    • What brand or system do you use?
    • What kind of maintenance is involved?
    • Are there any companies that deliver water filters and offer servicing or maintenance visits in Waterford? - I have found that many water filters suppliers are in Dublin, and I fear they might not travel to Waterford for the water filter maintenance.

I’d love to hear what’s worked for you (and what hasn’t). Thank you very much.

I have a clack system with a brine tank and UV lamp and do the servicing myself. Filters cost about a fiver each and cheaper from China the UV bulb is about €65-€70 and a litre of Resin cleaner is about €25 upwards depending on who has it in stock.

Water companies like Celtic Water aka Culligan charge around €240 for a service last time I checked. Iron is still a little high but everything was tried to no avail but it's liveable the way it is and doesn't stain or damage appliances.

Hi @con747 thank you for your feedback, could you please send me the link of the system you have, where you ave it in the house, and is this for both drinking water and the water to wash clothes, bath, etc?

No link to it, it was supplied by Celtic water and designed for the issues with the water back 5 years ago but we since had to have a new well bored so it's not as effective but is 95% effective, it's in a shed outside the house. We use it for everything apart from drinking straight from the tap, it's used in the kettle for tea/coffee though.

Thank you, but in my case I do not have a well, I'd like a water filter system for the water from the mains.
