Spoken to quite a few Canadians over last few weeks they want nothing to do with crazies to the south and are all busy exploring Europe instead

Trump has really 💩 ed the bed

Can you point to where the US has said they will restrict access to the country if you've merely been critical of Trump on social media?

And yes, other countries, such as the UK for example also check social media when looking at visa applications

For all of his flaws, and there were a lot, Bush was able to represent the presidency well.

Case in point. I can never imagine seeing Trump do anything of this sort, ever.

He keeps raising the bar on himself.

He referred to their prime minister as "Governor" a few times as if they were already a state. Just the height of disrespect.

A lot of stories in the US media about Vegas suffering a big slump in tourism. There is the usual hyperbole claiming that it is a ghost town, which is nonsense. It is busy but also experiencing about a 10% drop which is still significant especially for all the people who rely on tips. There are numerous causes including hotels' insanely high prices and hidden fees, but also Canadians account for a big portion of Vegas tourism and they are now staying away en masse. You have to question the wisdom of Nevada republicans who voted for a person who bankrupted a casino when the state depends highly on the casino industry.

    "Nothing about the future"

Has he ever been to a museum 🤦‍♂️

God be with the days when we thought George W. Bush was as bad as a US president could get. We just didn't know.

We used to laugh at Idiocracy, thinking it was a ridiculous parody of the future. Now, you'd look at it and go, "….at least Camacho genuinely seemed to want what's best for his country…."

Fresh and dry vegetable prices rose by almost 40 percent alone last month, the largest spike since inflation took off in 2022.”

which is incredible considering its peak vegetable production season

When will the thickos realise that Trump tax hits them and not producers

You also gave to allow for fact that gambling is now pretty much legal everywhere and can be done on phone, plus marjuana is also pretty much legal everywhere, add the crazy prices, plus the fact that the stock market esp the use of apps and daiky option trading is the new gambling and there is zero reason to visit Vegas

”—— and nothing about the future”. I was of the opinion that museums were about the past. I was sooooo wrong. I suppose we are all human and get very basic wrong from time to time!

I presume there's Brazilian beef which has been hit by 70% tariff.

If you can stomach the prices, Vegas can make for a decent destination even if you don't gamble. You could easily fill a long weekend hiking the trails in the various areas within driving distance, then return to the city for dinner and a show in the evening. Pretty much every well known celebrity chef in America has an establishment on the strip.

I've been looking at the various responses to the latest Trump meeting, the varied responses to it from the U.S and Europe and the Russians. I'm not sure the Russians will be happy that Trump has succeeded in energizing the Europeans to put more of their time, energy and cash into European defence as a continental enterprise as Ukraine, being a neighbour, will benefit from the close attention Europe will be paying to Latvia, Lithuania & the other former USSR satellite nations.

The Russians also seem to be unhappy with the proposal from Trump that Putin meet with Zelenskyy as Lavrov, their foreign minister, is blowing hot and cold on the notion. I cant see them being happy at all with the way Europe's military chiefs are working out how to provide Ukraine with practical air fighter cover as it would lessen a need for European boots on the ground in Ukraine and help boost the number of downed hostile missiles and drones in Ukraine's national airspace, possibly inclusive of the territory Russia is illegally imbedded in.

Trump himself is doing both what Lavrov is doing AND still talking about trilateral meeting between himself, Putin and Zelenskyy, probably to keep people guessing and at the same time extending the period he can avoid putting more punishing sanctions on Russia to several more weeks or months. Duplicity is the name of the Trump and Russian game at this stage as the other players are likely to put the boot into Russia shortly.

All Europe needs is the military aid Trump told the world, including his own country, that he would give Europe as he would not be putting U.S boots on the ground in Ukraine. He committed the U.S to providing munitions to Ukraine several months back, between the two meetings he had with Zelenskyy in the White House, on a cash deal basis, boosting U.S arms sales and production into the bargain.

What would really sicken and hurt Russia is if Trump could be persuaded to hand over the Russian assets the U.S seized as part of the original sanctions to Ukraine or the Europeans who are going to do the carrying Trump won't allow the U.S to do for Ukraine. All that cash and gold etc sitting doing nothing except earn interest for Russia in the event it is given back to Russia in the next decade. It might even have an effect on the sales between the sanction-busting nations still trading with Russia, knowing Ukraine could suddenly be flush with ready cash and monetary assets. Get Bessent to make Trump understand that the Russian assets could become U.S assets from legal trading (arms sales) to Ukraine free of any sanction entanglement, courtesy of an Executive Order backed up by vote from his friendly Capitol Hill friends.

I was the same. Went to the US last month and was dreading immigration after everything I had heard. It was fine, no devices checked. I've honestly had worse in the past.

Trump is so dumb, it is amazing that he has any supporters left considering how dumb he is

Sony have no intentions of paying Trump taxes and passing it onto consumers

maybe Trump is basing his ‘ recommendation’ that Crimea stays with Russia or did he say that Ukr is not getting it back BECAUSE IT IS HUGH. Is there a possibility that he might change his mind if he realises that it is not that big?

Wae sitting next to some people on a train in Portugal recently, who sounded American. We eventually talked a little, and they made it plain they were Canadian. Had little canadian flags on their jacket sleeves. Saw some others later and they had similar identification.

I hope we are advertiding Ireland as a tourist destination for Canadians.

I can see no evidence to suggest that Trump isn't trying to trash the US economy bit by bit by bit. Malice or ignorance doesn't matter , like Truman's sign The Buck Stops Here.

Ah but again there’s precedent there. Lincoln was famously skeptical of the internet.

Currently living in Vancouver, the "Made in Canada" signs are all over the stores, and I read there is a serious decline in sales of Californian wine in Canada overall.

Canadians are lovely, but they can be as bitter as Irish.

And the best part of this is if they are anything like us from now on it will be part of their national psychology.

Nothing about the future? That's not really the point of museums.

is ‘bitter’ the right word. ? What about ‘reactionary’ , ‘ saavy’ , ‘ boycotts’ , even ‘smart’

Nice sort of a fella who allowed himself become directly and indirectly responsible for the deaths of over 2 million people. All for the Israelis and oil money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,902 ✭✭✭threeball

Its funny, its something like this that could be the cause of some serious blowback. It directly affects Americans both sides of the aisle. Neither of which are accustomed to paying higher prices for their toys than the average European.

ICE is like watching an episode of COPS, you react while watching but doesnt affect you so its forgotten quickly. Paying extra for the latest PlayStation and games will agititate alot of people.

    Fcuked up world.

What's changed since the 'crucial' meeting in Alaska and the 'history making' Trump-Zelensky+ one in the WH?
