Banned even though I made valid points.

    I've got a 1-month ban from the Current Affairs forum because of a comment I made in the thread about the Hamas attack on Israel and the current war in Gaza.

    I had previously got several warnings and some shorter bans because of other comments that I made, even though I was arguing against posters who had made antisemitic comments.

    The antisemitic comments I was responding to included the comparing of Israel to Nazi Germany, which is referred to as an example of antisemitism in the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's working definition of antisemitism.

    In my most recent comment, I said I was done with that thread - I thought that would take the heat out of the situation. My last argument on that thread was about the the journalist Anas al-Sharif, who was, according to the IDF, a member of Hamas. A selfie that he took with senior Hamas members had been shared on X and I cited that as evidence.

    The moderator, Necro, told me that I was banned for 1 month for saying in response to someone on the "Hamas attack on Israel" thread, "I don't care what I was asked. The point is that he (the Al-Jazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif) was a Hamas member or sympathiser and so he got what he deserved. Do you know what? I'm done with this thread!"

    Necro also said, "It's not just this one comment, it is a multitude of comments all designed to bait and troll posters in that thread that has been going on for months. Another mod warned you previously for similar style of posting, and it is evident that you have not learned any lessons from that warning and subsequent ban. You can appeal this in the Dispute Resolution Forum if you wish."

    You have had multiple warnings (for trolling and personal abuse) in that same thread from two different moderators and, having read through some or your recent contributions in the thread over the last few weeks, I agree with Necro's assessment.

    Your posts in the thread have often been a combination of bad faith posting (seemingly to get a reaction) or snarky/borderline abusive posts aimed at specific posters. Taking the whole of your contributions in the thread as a pattern, that is textbook trolling and the moderators have issued you a final warning to stop or face a permanent CA ban.

    I am upholding the warning and the one month ban. Please indicate if you want an admin to review?

    I seek a review. How does condemning antisemitism (a point I made in the OP of this thread) amount to bad-faith posting or being abusive? Getting a reaction is the whole points of this website.
