I get that. Liam Gallagher has the personality of a brush. The sort of lad that is the last seat beside at the office Christmas party. The office odd bod, ill at ease in people's company.

Noel isn't much better, albeit a little.

But to be honest I wasn't there for the sort of schmalzy bluster that I heard Garth Brooks went on with. How much he loves the place, STFU like. Bruce does it a little too but I think he genuinely loves this place. The Gallaghers don't need to protest. They do genuinely have an affection for this place. Can't stand Bono when he starts pontificating (or in general), he hasn't been vocal on Gaza which says it all........

But once they kept the tunes coming, I didn't care if they didn't say a word!

I get that, but then I may as well be in the garden listening to their albums

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 692 ✭✭✭dashdoll

Hardly. That's a fairly miserable thing to say. They never did much interaction even back in the day. Its not their style. They get it and they have no interest in pontificating to anyone. Re-listened to an interview Liam did with the 2 Johnnies a few weeks ago and he just gets it. Says he gets on with it and plays the hits. Gives people what they want so they come back, they buy a ticket and want to hear the big hits and he likes singing them. None of the other bullshit. Can't think of anything worse than paying a few hundred euro to listen to Springsteen or Bono talk **** personally.

If you can't understand the difference between listening to an album in the garden and being in the middle of 80,000 people, arms around each other doing a Poznan, drinking pints with your mates who have been fans since 1994 and listening to a group of living legends play some of the most classic songs of a generation live on stage………………

I guess live music just isn't for you!

The beauty of it is that with an atmosphere of wild delirious fans it doesn't matter if they don't interact. They brought music, and we did the rest.

I keep saying to anyone who asks me how were the gigs , all I can say is INCREDIBLE.

I had a bit of a rough patch personally in the last 18 months or so , Saturday and Sunday night made everything disappear just for those hours .

That’s the impact it had on me , my heart, soul and mind was warmed.

I asked Chat GPT to conduct deep research on whether it thinks Oasis will tour again next year and after 24 mins of thinking it put it as a 45% chance….

Dates/itinerary are locked in. Hitting mainland Europe and a few uk shows as well.
another few hundred million to be made

Jaysus could they have not have found anyone better than the 2 Johnnies to interview one of the biggest rock stars in the world, how they are famous in this country does not say much for us?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 Vautours Ghost

it factored in they may fall out on the US/Asia leg of this tour , hopefully they do go again next year

I would guess there is something in the contracts that if either one leaves/falls out etc they are liable for expenses, no way are promoters taking a chance without something like that.

Anyways just wanted to echo what everyone said, went Sunday and was easily one of the best gigs I've been too. Running order for that day was exact, the lads came on basically at 8.15, I had decided to get my last piss break and pint run in before that so got back to my spot at 8.10. Also we had general standing but when we came through the gates someone from MCD was saying if you want the best view to take a hard left into one of the ques so we hopped in and got front standing passes :). Rockshore is still 100% piss but had no choice to have a few of them since they werent doing Guinness on the pitch level, however they should have the people constantly pulling pints instead of waiting to order each time like at other big gigs/festivals.

The crowd were great, no trouble around us and seemed like mostly 30s + age group but did see a few parents with kids which was nice to see the different generations enjoying the gig. Setlist was perfect, 1 or 2 songs I wasnt overly familar with but it was banger after banger. Have seen Noel a good few times with the HFB but this was something else.

Would i go again if they came back next year somewhere else in Ireland, possibly but if its going to be the exact same setlist I'm not sure, plus I just dont think you'd be able to top last weekend.

When tickets went on sale last year, I was like if I dont get tickets I'll be fine but thankful my friend was able to get in via the presale because the FOMO would be huge now.

While I'd certainly go see them again, even if it was Slane - It will be close to impossible to replicate the feeling around the weekend's gigs. It'd be similar to chasing a high. There were so many factors which aligned just right to make the weekend's gigs the spectacle they were, rather than just another event/concert.

I wont be going to Slane ever again, its just a terrible terrible venue.

Bad location, hard to get out of, no seats, no facilities, hard to get a good view.

Its easier to go to the UK for a gig than Slane for me to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,039 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Slane is too expensive a set up given how much money oasis want. Maths don’t work unless the band take enormous pay cut from what they are currently getting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 692 ✭✭✭dashdoll

Haha inknoa. 2 Johnnies are terrible but I had a listen anyway. It was Liam doing a promo round for his album.

And since they have been quite up front and vocal about this simply being about the money (Hey, at least they are honest), I doubt they will do it.

They MIGHT do glasto in 2027 but would imagine that would be it. And even only then 'cos their tour will probably be over or almost and it makes good tele. While they would get no cut from any rights, it would be a good advertisement if they released a concert album for this tour. But it's still a bit of a long shot TBH.

They'll probably play another 2 days in Croker next year/during tour. I'm glad I went. Loved the show but would like to leave it there. The show was great Would hate to potentially be tarnished by seeing them at the end of a long tour when they are just phoning it in.

What's even worse is that people work to earn money and pay to listen to these two bell ends….

His Mums from Mayo too, and Dad from 30miles outside Belfast.

This. Last went in 2009 for the last Oasis gig and vowed never again. Massive massive queues for bars/toilets and huge walk back to buses and 2/3 hours to get back to Dublin. Shithole.

Saturday night was absolutely brilliant. Got lucky with a friend getting pitch tickets in the presale for €170. I'd go see them again if it was Croker or a similar accessible venue but otherwise I'm happy with my lot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭left_hander

I don't get the criticism of Slane. I think its a phenomenal venue. Have been a few times and loved it every time. I know there's a bit of trekking and that but a concert can't always be plonk your tubby at the door and in you walk. You don't exactly get landed where you pitch your tent at the picnic!

I've never been to Slane and not loved it. New chief bottle washer up there now too, I hope it happens. They'd probably need to do 2 days though because demand would be insane!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,140 ✭✭✭PGE1970

I live fifteen minutes drive from Slane and would prefer to go back to Croke Park.

As per previous comments, the venue is crap. Crap facilities, crap view and, if it rains, it is a health hazard.

There's also about four pubs in Slane so it is a disaster from that perspective. At least I know the local ones outside the village to go to!

    It's a 1980s venue in the 21st century.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 367 ✭✭gilly1910

Yeah fair point, it served it's purpose back in the day prior to regular gigs in Croker, Aviva or the Phoenix Park. It is an amazing setting, but horrendous to get to and out of, not to mention as stated by PGE1970 there are four pubs. Enough said, Croker please again next year 😊

I played two gigs over the weekend, Friday and Saturday. A good few times, folks would walk past and ask us to play Wonderwall. I replied 'We will if you give us 500 quid each, then me and the singer can start a fist-fight on stage for good measure'. Went down well, I thought.

Don't you have something better to do? You went out of your way, spent time logging in, browsing to this thread and typing that. How productive did that make you feel? Worth wasting your time?

People (not you) spent their money (not yours) and their time (not yours) to see a band (not you). And yet you felt that you needed to spend a couple of mins of your time commenting about something that did not interest or impact you in any way?

    Productive.

Eh, I think he was referring to The Two Johnnies……
