Wednesday in Scarborough. Alas a few in the audience struggled to hold their beer - with some it was flying through the air, with others thrown up on the floor

Still a pretty decent show from Judas Priest with a special word for Ozzy ahead of "Giants in the Sky"

Thursday in Grimsby, Jools and his 16 piece R&B band, plus a guest appearance from the very Cool Cat, Chris Difford

Friday in London, and the setlist and show was cut back due to time constraints, meaning Cool Ethyl remained in the freezer

We did get Coopers first live performance of Paranoid with another Hollywood Vampire joining him on stage for that and School's Out. We also had the 3 other surviving members of the original Alice Cooper band playing School's Out, having just released an album of original material with those originals - "The Revenge of Alice Cooper"

We then had a bit more Hell Bent for Leather and Living After Midnight, with Glenn Tipton, who had been suffering from Parkinson's for 18 years, appearing for that final number. A much more civilised and very enjoyable experience

    JudasL1.jpg JudasL2.jpg JudasL3.jpg JudasL4.jpg

After all that it was a quiet day in London with Live Aid the Musical - Just for one Day, in the West End, then a drive back to Pembroke Dock for the overnight ferry back to Rosslare

    I am now officially knackered….

    Looks good .

Have tickets for Jools for June next year in Dublin so hoping that there might be a few nice guests appearing with him will appear there as well .

We had Ruby Turner plus 2 other vocalists who were artists in their own right as well as Chris Difford. Later on this year he will have Imelda May guesting on his "Autumn" tour. It's a very big orchestra and he always seems to have a great variety of vocalists to complement his own numbers

Ah Ruby Turner , he always has her on !

Looking forward to seeing him . Would have thought the National Concert Hall would be a better venue for it than 3 Arena . But too small maybe .

Billie Eilish, two excellent shows in the 3Arena.

The production is designed to be In The Round for a conventional, hockey style arena, so had to be reconfigured for the amphitheatre setup, putting the stage in sideways, and removing the B Stage, which, given the size of the main stage on the 3Arena floor, now had nowhere to go.

This effectively meant that nobody was very far from the action, and the often poor side sections (Block A and G) would have had great views. I was on the floor, but I expect sightlines everywhere would have been very good.

A sea of phones and Beatlemania levels of screaming throughout, as you'd expect. One swap between night one and night two (TV for Halley's Comet), but otherwise the show was set in stone, without feeling like they were rigidly sticking to the script.

2026 Gigs and Events: An Evening with The Fast Show, Prima Facie, Stereolab (NCH), Foo Fighters, David Byrne (3Arena), Belle and Sebastian (x2), Kraftwerk, Paul Simon, David Byrne (St. Anne's Park), Keb' Mo', Metallica (x2), Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Embrace, Sigur Rós with the Ulster Orchestra, Crash Test Dummies, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Ben Folds, Jeff Tweedy, Nicko McBrain

Anyone else in Whelan’s on Thursday night for a cracking double bill from Glasseyed and headliners, Leyen?

Really aggressive moshes at each. Are the people getting angry? 🧐

Was at Wembley last night, 2nd August, I have to say it was absolutely epic, those of youse who got tickets for Croker are in for an absolute belter. The vibe was amazing, the band were sublime, the set list is just superb song after superb song. Definitely the best gig I have ever been to, I am biased mind as they have always been one of my favourite bands, I last saw them at Glastonbury in 1995 as a fresh faced 18yo having hopped the fence to get in.......how times have changed in that regard, 95 was the year the fence was levelled on the Fri or Sat and estimates said crowd topped 250k, prompting the creation of the forerunner to today's epic fencing.

Its never been known for Oasis to sound so good. At every gig they sound amazing. Its incredible that they can play so perfect and liams voice does not seem to be deteriorating at all during the tour.

The Weir tonight in the Olympia was Amazing. I'll admit the theatre/play stuff would not be my thing but seeing a cast that good on paper was a 'must not miss' thing (youre a blow in not a real fan etc)

It's clever and a real 'pub chat' type of play. Inoffensive with a few laughs and tears along the way. Brilliantly produced and my hats goes off to Conor McPherson

A bit of a different journey than I'd usual make but YOLO

Definitely recommend seeing it before it ends in September. Id get in early for the Upper Circle

Next up Oasis in Croke Park on Saturday coming

Great stuff. Going in next week to see it. I've restricted view tickets at the back of the stalls, hopefully not too badly restricted

It was one of the best gigs this country will see in terms of musicianship and how good the show was.

    Brilliant from start to finish.

Is the gig in Croke Park the most hyped event this year? Posters, wall murals and window dressings for loads of pubs in Dublin 1.

Had to get the bus home from Whelan’s last night as I would have been walking against the tides of people walking back into town after the gig.

Went to see Left Iris but was more impressed with Telekura. Great little synch pop/tech rock trio from Dublin. Lead singer had a powerful voice, loved it.

Oasis in Croke Park last night

What a gig, setlist was perfect, weather was perfect and everyone was buzzing

Next up is WWE Smackdown in 3Arena on Friday coming. Next Gig is Lewis Capaldi there in September

Melvins in Vicar St tonight were, unfortunately, a bit of a bore for me. A few songs i enjoyed but overall i found their 75 minute set pretty dull. Thinking about it, i had the same feeling the last time i saw them in the Button Factory years ago. Maybe i just don't like them. Redd Kross were the support and got an hour to play with, which was fair enough as it was their first ever gig here. They were ok but too melodic and too American for me.

Gibby Haynes w/The Scott Thunes Institute For Musical Excellence was in Opium the previous night. Basically a school of rock type band of teenagers playing Butthole Surfers tunes as well as their own support slot playing lots of punk covers. Extremely talented kids, multi-instrumentalists all, and it was great to hear some of those songs, but it was a pale imitation of how those songs should be experienced. Another support, Evicshen, was interesting. She had a bunch of home made electronic devices making loads of noise. I reckon @Gloomtastic! would've enjoyed her set!

Jackie-O Motherf@cker up next and that's another one that could prove to be underwhelming. Hopefully it'll swing the other way!

Thanks DW. On Sunday night I did look at going to see Butthole Surfers but €40 was a deal breaker for me.

Ended up walking round Croke Park instead, joining 1000’s of people just hanging around. It really was the quietest gig, you could barely hear anything, crowd or music. Have they changed something to do with the acoustics?

Was at Oasis on Sunday and it was as amazing as everyone said - nothing really to add to the separate thread but a thanks for the comments from people attending Sat - without that I don't know if we'd have made the effort to go front standing.

Went to The Maccabees in The Academy last night and always loved them but was a bit worried it'd be a huge anticlimax after Oasis on Sunday - I was very pleasantly proved otherwise. Blistering set from the band who were very appreciative of the welcome back after their hiatus. Felix is some hype man getting the crowd going when not playing guitar and nice bit of interaction from Orlando too. The Academy was perfect venue for them and the set was a perfect mix from all their albums before inevitably finishing with Pelican, which for my money was as good as anything I'd heard in Croke Park either. Couldn't make their farewell gig in Olympia so glad I got to see them again - hopefully they'll continue and tour again in the future.

Went to the chats last night, 2nd time seeing them. They are a powerhouse of a band live.

Queens of the Stone Age last night.

Kilmainham is a good venue ,

Sound was excellent, and Josh was in full " Ginger Elvis" mode....

A few guitar problems for him at the start , some great deep cuts , the usual crowd pleasers - No one Knows was excellent and Song for the Dead was sublime.

A good crowd , good interaction , including Josh walking around in the crowd…

Cliffords were quite good ... Singer has a great voice

Did anyone catch the Gibby Haynes gig in Dublin, apparently he done the Butthole Surfers version of Sweet Leaf, sounded pretty good.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

I was at Oasis on Sunday, fantastic! If I was nitpicking the only tiny negative was that I thought the sound was a little off!, it seemed to be from the drums. I’m not sure if it was just where I happened to be sitting (upper cusack close to the hill) Nobody else seemed to notice it and the longer the night went on the less I noticed it!! Brilliant night though

Was at the come together festival in Newcastle last night. Andrew Cushin, very very like Noel Gallagher but he was very good. The Kaiser Chiefs again short enough set but were very good. Robbie Williams, not a big fan but herself enjoyed it and he does put on a show.

Big venue, no over crowding and lovely people.

Tickets 75 pound, hotel 90 for two nights and flights 100 return for two. Brilliant city double malibu and pint of stout 9 pound.

Sorry for throwing this question up, as I'm sure it has come up many times before. If I get a ticket transfer from something like Toutless for a gig tomorrow evening, but then can't get to the gig, can I resell that ticket on again. Or is resale only allowed once. That might sound a bit dodgy on my part. But it's not. Theres a chance that I might not be able to get into a gig cause it's over 18s, and my youngster and friend are younger than that. So could get refused. Now another friend wants to go. But might get a bit cheaper tomorrow. Don't want to be taking on more risk by buying another expensive ticket on ticketmaster and then losing more money. At least if resell is available for all tickets, I might get something back if I can sell to last minute buyer.

Saw Doctors at Summer Sessions in Letterkenny last Saturday.

Brilliant gig, raucous crowd singing along, completely changed setlist from the one they posted online from Limerick the night before.

They throw in some deeper cuts and b-sides as well as the favourites, they played for over 2 hours, Clare Island, Same Auld Town and Hay Wrap for me are up there with the best Irish songs ever written, the new one Awandering is a feel good anthem works well live too.

Hope it's not the last time I see them.
