Wow, the US press pool are pathetic. Asking questions about mail in ballots. Such a joke.

He blamed Biden for the war while sitting beside Zelensky. I swear Zelensky has far more self-control and diplomacy than I would have in his position because I would have no problem fact checking that moron in real time.

Feel sorry for Zelenskyy being attacked by Trumps journos! Back on mail in ballots again! Says again no other country uses them. Says they gave Ukraine 350 billion after another Trump journalist prompt. Real figure 125 billion in old equipment

There needs to be a photo of Zelenskyy trying to sneak a glance at his watch during this bullsh*t.

I've never seen a bigger narcissist in world politics, and I doubt I ever will.

I despair. This is not a meeting - it is US verbal diarrhoea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,045 ✭✭✭RickBlaine

That also works if your replace narcissist with c*nt.

    Jesus Christ....

"Maybe in 3 and a half years time if we're in a war there might not be elections" says trump after zelensky is asked if his country will have elections if there is peace

(to which of course he said yes)

Each time Trump waffles on with some irrelevant bulsh1t, the media should reply with...

Depends on what you mean by "world". The EU has tied its future to the US, with no possible alternatives. So it cant pivot away.

The rest of the world can do and arguably already is. China isn't dependent on the US - its win in the brief trade war earlier this year demonstrates that. Russia does very little trade with the US. India has been enraged by the US passing tariffs against it - its undone 35 years of US efforts to coax India into becoming a US vassal. The US is increasingly struggling to sell its long term debt. Same with Brazil. US (and EU) policy in Gaza has completely destroyed any moral legitimacy they might have had. The American century is over.

They'll still be very powerful. They'll still control Europe and North America but they wont be a global hyperpower anymore.

It will be no surprise when Newsom announces his candidacy for president and if Trump tries anything to interfere with the election, there is no way on god's green earth that Newsom will just sit back and let it happen.

Real figure is grossly over exaggerated even. Much of the equipment given was obsolete and in need of disposal, so it would have cost them money to get rid. Instead they gave it to the Ukrainians and had the audacity to claim it was valued the same as full price brand new stock.

I've been saying it for ages. Trump will not be leaving in 2028 unless something remarkable happens. He'll stir up trouble, deploy the military at home, and then declare that it isn't safe to hold elections currently so he'll stay in power, thanks lads. It's as clear as day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,045 ✭✭✭RickBlaine

States run elections not the president. But for arguments sake if that does happen, Trump will not automatically stay in power. His term of office ends on Jan 20th 2029. Cancelling the election will not cause his term to be extended. It would be a crisis of insane proportions for America, but if somehow there are no elections in 2028, there will be no president on Jan 21th 2029. The same goes for the entire House and a third of the Senate.

    This is so pathetically sad

What really surprises me watching the US news network is the continuing belief that there is some sort of deal that just hasn't been made public yet, all the discussion is about the 'mystery' of what has been agreed.

It seems to me that nothing has been agreed whatsoever. It's just waffle and kicking the can down the road by Putin. Do we really think Trump is capable of achieving an in-depth technical agreement through one to one negotiations with Putin and now the EU leaders? He can't. Everyone has lost their minds if they think there is an in-depth agreement about to emerge.

The US media and public are in complete denial, even at this late stage. Nothing is going to be agreed out of today.

Listening in and rutte is debasing himself as usual at the altar of trump. Meloni looks like she’s going to die of boredom.

what fcuking war did he stop in the Congo last week??? He keeps going on about the 6 wars he stopped? Is anyone going to challenge him???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,045 ✭✭✭RickBlaine

He just wants the Nobel Peace Prize which is why he keeps spewing this nonsense. And most likely he only wants it because Obama has it.

Meloni was / is very angry i think with some people around that table. I am married to an Italian so am quite familiar with those facial gestures.

I remember states' rights being something of an issue in the past. I'm sure this isn't problematic.

It's particularly infuriating when the 2A gun nuts have spent decades accepting school and mass shootings just so they can retain their guns for the eventuality of a tyrannical government. And here we are.

The above should be enough to send panic waves through the US and states congress, and more than half of them will actually applaud him.

America is deep in the s h one t.

The Republicans may still have a trick or two to use on Newsome. He was married for 3 years to Kimberly Guilfoyle. She of fox News and "the best is yet to COMMMMEEEE" fame and also partnering up with Donald Trump Jr for a few years.

I wouldn't put it past her to come back from her 4 year holiday in Greece to announce a memory recall of Gavin's behaviour during the marriage that the media will be only to glad to give air space to.

So is he saying that the 2024 election was fraudulent? I

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,045 ✭✭✭RickBlaine

I don't think so. If current American voters cared about candidates' behavior, both personal and political, Trump wouldn't have been reelected. Instead voters care about how much money is in their pocket and how safe they feel. Personal scandals barely move the needle with the possible exception of the Epstein files which has taken on a life of its own. Highly doubtful the GOP can come up with anything even close to matching that.

Now's the opportune time for some of the states to step up to the plate and say publicly "Donnie, what are you going to do if we don't do what you say, kick us out of the union or ask SCOTUS to do it"?

Ref Ukraine, I'll wait and see what Trump pulls out of the hat quote-wise after the Europeans leave the U.S. I have no doubt he'll flip again in favour of something Putin would like to hear. The NATO-like section he used is pure B/S unless he commits force to assist the Europeans he thinks will do the heavy shifting. I'll accept Trump is genuine when I see him signing a military-assist deal with Ukraine and Europe before Congress and the setting up of a M.A.C. Europe transporting troops and war materiel from the U.S to Ramstein.

If he fails to assist (which I expect) it'll be what Putin wants, a semi-formal disintegration of the NATO pact by Trump letting the Europeans that he will deny them the NATO pact assist the US is obliged to under the NATO pact agreement. Putin would know that he can invade the smaller European countries within NATO that are handily enough next to Ukraine without an armed response from NATO's major player and force Ukraine into a war on two or more fronts. He'll have his good friend in Byelorussia even more on the side-lines to slip in a helping hand or two while people are looking at what Putin is doing.
