Conspiracy drivel? So, Nick Henderson is a figment of our imagination? His 'charity' doesn't receive any public funding, whatsoever?

C'mon man, you can't seriously believe that. If you do, I highly suspect you're a victim of far-left conspiracy theories.

She may have lost but she was right on that count. 100% right as events since then have shown.

Once bitten, twice shy. But yet Trump got back in. Do yea ever wonder why that happens? I suppose the enlightened ones who voted Biden in 2020 flip-flopped back to being stupid racist bigots in 2024. Yeah, that's probably it.

Moronic is too kind a description. Suicidal is more apt.

Point out where exactly in my post I said that, please.

Once again, repeating the conspiracy theory does not make it true. Snarky comments certainly don't. I'd ask for evidence but we both know there is none, hence the reliance on repetition.

The system for managing applications for asylum came close to collapse last year as senior officials warned backlogs were quickly reaching "unmanageable levels".

The Department of Justice had refused to release the documents on extra money and staff to deal with International Protection applications. However, following an appeal under FOI laws, they have now released some records which detail how the system had seen a 385% increase in expected applications between 2022 and 2023.

I'm shocked that RTE were allowed to report that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,451 ✭✭✭For Petes Sake

This bullshit of ‘surprised RTÉ were allowed to report this’ like we’re in some sort of utopian Orwellian state is hilarious.

Thats where any credibility of ‘we’re not far right’ falls on its arse. Suggesting that the media only peddles government lines is right out of the Nazi playbook, before they went and actually did it themselves.

That poster didn’t mention anything about Jewish people but sure just call them an antisemite anyway. You might want to look at your own side for antisemitism, it’s coming from the left not the right now, just look at any Israel/Palestine thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,767 ✭✭✭tom23

yeah RTE always good at sensing the mood music. RTE always know when it’s the right time. Anyone thinks that RTE decision making is entirely of their own and not in anyway influenced need to take their head out of the sand.

The overwhelming majority of anti-Semitism comes from the right. "Globalist" is a well known anti-Semitic dogwhistle.

I never called anyone an anti-Semite btw. Just the language used. You knew that when you wrote this.

Any of the posters that don’t think there are any issues with the migration we’re seeing at the moment care to comment on this?

Or the other IT article above stating our population is growing at 7x the EU average?

None of you are actually engaging in discussion of the issue and how it is impacting Ireland. It’s pretty much just throwing out labels and accusations, but never any interface with the actual content of this issue.

If you don’t think any of the above is actually having an impact on housing prices/availability please explain to me why that is the case.

When a baby is born and leaves the maternity hospital it has a cot in a home waiting for it. When an immigrant arrives they put pressure on an already tight housing supply.

Not anymore, the pro-Palestine groups are predominantly left wing. Zionist was a dog whistle word two years ago but today the same people that scream racism at everything won’t bat an eye while they say it themselves. It’s not the right wing blocking Jewish students going to their college classes.

Ah, the old tactic of equating being critical of Israel's genocide with anti-Semitism while ignoring actual Nazism from the right.

So India Day did go ahead after all and by the looks of it, it all went without any incidents as expected. It was also positive to see some Indian festival goers having positive things to say about the Irish, after the media tried to push their agenda and scare them with biased headlines.

"To me personally, the incidents that have happened are with the teenagers and I wouldn’t call that type of activity specifically against Indians as such. It was mostly teenagers causing nuisance around the estate or the places where we were living".

Well hopefully posters will now give over with the milking the victim card narrative. They were victims, so were not milking /playing the victim.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 794 ✭✭✭Phat Cat

The media were milking it, they have been stirring up tensions for a couple of weeks now. If it wasn't for the media giving blanket coverage to a handful of random assaults against Indians, then their community wouldn't have needed to be constantly reassured in regards to their safely.

Well-known to whom? Certainly news to me.

Is this another one of those things that are only offensive to people looking to be offended?

Don't see anything there about anti-semitism?

Interesting how the same newspaper also has this article in the same section, which seems to be saying that the immigration spigot can never be turned off if we want continued high economic growth to (presumably) provide future taxpayers to pay the interest on the national debt and to fund benefits for an aging population.

One thing I'm curious about is the number of general employment permits we issue, ie outside of the "critical skills" list. What scope is there to pare back the numbers of those? Picking a couple of random anecdotes - my daughter was telling me that nail bars are pretty much exclusively operated by immigrants. Would the economy suffer if we stopped issuing work permits for more nail bar staff?

Or what about language schools? What exactly is the economic benefit they bring, and what would happen if we stopped issuing permits for such students?

Or what would happen instead if we just put a ceiling on the number of permits and used other criteria like an English language test to pick the "best" candidates?

Their talking heads/NGO type figures were absolutely milking it. Aided and abetted by the irish media and politicians.

As usual these people rarely represent the average joe. But its still helped stir some animosity and division amongst the two communities.

Which is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the racial/cultural clashes coming down the tracks for Ireland.

We're going to look like a bullet train in comparison to the UK given how much more rapidly our demographics are being changed.

To be honest the reaction to Indian community in general has been pretty negative here. They have been accused of

-being scam callers ( poster banned for glorifying attacks on indians)

    - taking nursing jobs

    -taking low paid retail jobs

    -committing heinous crimes

    -attacking westerners in India

    -having a caste system

It just seems to have rubbed people the wrong way the reporting of attacks on immigrants, so people have attacked the victims.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,260 ✭✭✭PokeHerKing

The complete and utter over reaction and hysteria is whats irked most people. The shouting of racism and far right when the dog in the street could tell you it was scrotes being scrotes.

I actually find it's the more liberal immigration posters on this site that claim immigrants do all the low paying jobs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,372 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

i think you will find most of those statements I referenced were from the more prolific posters here that are right wing, and these were only from the last few pages. A lot of victim blaming.

The little bollix giving the 2 fingers to the cameras, not much remorse there.

Except for "committing heinous crimes" pretty much everything else is true. There's a lot of Indian nurses and shop assistants, a whole lot than would be normal for a Northwestern European country. Their caste system (and misogyny) is something that I saw it in full display there (in a large MNC, not some random village) and I also saw it here, it is something so ingrained they can't just leave it behind.

Of course the usual disclaimer also applies: they are not all the same and so on.

Tubridy's other half.. shes now weighing into the debate, saying its only a loud minority who are stirring up racism.
