If we had the luxury of bedding him in. But we didn't.

Won't pick hojlund and zirkzee legit is out of fitness.

We needed a striker vs one of the best teams in the league

We’re dominating possession against the second best team in the league last season and likely to be this season as well. We concede a goal through a poor error from the second choice goalkeeper from a corner that was gifted from an individual error. We created chances but didn’t score a goal against the team who conceded the least amount of goals last season.

The only contribution you want to make is having a go at the manager. Who scored the goal to send us into the Europa League semi final?

Except for hitting the post, Raya making two very good saves and numerous times we had their CBs panicking but other than that we never laid a glove on them

Cunha deal was on last year's books so technically we still have 70m+ lying down the back of the couch. Time to really push now for Baleba/Wharton and literally any goalkeeper

We are being heavily hampered by the 3 left to leave in Sancho, Antony and Garna. If all 3 of them were sold we'd for sure be back in the market.

Antony getting on Sancho's level for me. Pissing me right off with "only betis" crying in interviews saying its too tough at United. Get out ta f*ck.

Garna only Chelsea talk he says. Chelsea fans i talked to dont want him. They say the potential as a footballer yes but as person, no thanks.

I know hindsight is great, but i wonder how it would have played out if Sesko started the first half with the way we played.

Imagine thinking Arsenal don't try and play. One decent game in the first game of the season, were we had one of our worst performances has you lot talking crazy

More positives than negatives for me after today.

MDL, Dorgu, Shaw all played well. Mount was excellent for the duration. Cunha and Mbeumo are both ballers, loved seeing Cunha getting in Whites face for his time wasting antics. Lack of attacking focal point was an issue and Sesko wasn't able to bed in. If we play like that against everyone we'll do alot better this season. A full week together before the next match. I'd expect Sesko and Amad both to start vs Fulham.

Tbf, Arsenal needed a couple of big saves today to guarantee the three points.

There's actual intent in our forward play for the first time in God knows how long, but you can't expect it to click into place immediately. We're allowing Arsenal off the hook for not looking like they're at full tilt, but neither were United.

Think he came on for Mount, although Mount obviously not a out and out goal scorer he was starting some brilliant phases of attack that let Mbeumbo and Cuhna go at the Arsenal defence to create the chances. We lost that when Mount came off. Some of Mounts crossfield play, quick lay offs and vision was brilliant today. Al.ost felt like he was doing what Bruno should be doing as the 8.

Injury free, Mount will be huge for us this season. Looks on it.

Yep. Some people are forgetting that Cunha and Mbeumo can score goals too. They will get goals. They will get more space against the other teams. The vast majority are happy with today which is a weird thing to say after a home defeat but given the context it’s perfectly normal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,647 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Gutted to lose that. We deserved at least a point.

There really was a lot of positives though. We looked really strong and to be fair to Amorim, his selections in De Ligt and Casemiro were right in hindsight. Amad apparently ill during the week so hand forced there.

No real point talking about the keeper too much. He's levels below Onana. Arsenal were forcing him onto his left foot all day.

Don't think there was an issue with midfield today but there is clearly a signing needed there to replace Casemiro.

The 2 new lads look quality. Mbeumo in particular still looks some way from being match fit.

I'm happy with what I saw shape wise and play wise but obviously points are what matters. Pressure on next week now unfortunately.

Not happy with the result but really liked our performances today and I would go as far to say we deserved to win it against an awful Arsenal performance

Our goal keeper cost us this match and it could've been Onana in goals today and it wouldn't make any difference. Onana and Bayındır shouldn't be near our club

If utd don't get a new GK what we saw today will constantly keep happening throughout the season.

The one criticism I would give RA is Sesko should've came on at the very same time as Diallo

I get what you're saying with Antony but I don't think any decent offers have come in for him. Benfica enquired but it was to take him on loan. Maybe Saudi had genuine interest but I'd be taking a lot of what is said in the papers/twitter by many journos with a pinch of salt.

Yeah I know a couple of Chelsea fans that don't want him at the club because of his attitude.

Have to say, I didn't watch Brentford at all last season unless I got the chance when we played them.

Mbeumbo does look a quality player. Hard, aggressive and wants to play on the front foot. Think he'll have a good career at Utd. Great signing. Get that Amad chemistry on the go and thay right side, which we lacked for so long will start to long dangerous.

Massive fan of Cuhna, the man just wants the ball and go forward which we lacked imo. Usually balls get cut back behind but his first instinct is go with the ball and pressure the defenders. I seen it at wolves and he was superb at it.

2 very exciting no'10s in absolute key positions for this system.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,049 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

I was surprised by Mbeumo. Now I think he's a quality player and didn't see any preseason bar the Everton match but I thought he'd have a quiet start to the season.

When someone asked who the flop of the season would be early I didn't want to say Mbeumo will flop, but that I didn't think he'd have the effect this season that many were hoping from him.

Coming from a team that are so well drilled and driven he showed that today. If he can build on today and get a partnership going with Amad we'll have a quality RHS.

Forgot to add while they are two exciting 10s in key positions for this system I think both slot into into a 4-3-3 easily too. Both players are comfortably with going at players either on the inside and outside.

If we can get that CM and solid defensive signings we'll have a starting XI that won't need ripping up if things don't work out with Amorim and the next guy in prefers a version of 4-3-3.

Amorim quote ratty at the press conference when they pushed him on the goalkeeper situation.

In fairness what can he say. Yeah our 3 keepers are either geriatric or sh*t. We need new blood.

Is Mainoo completely frozen out at UTD. I can't understand how someone like Ugarte gets on ahead of him. He was sh**e at PSG, sh**e last season, and now UTD fans are to expect him to somehow come on and change a game around from 1 behind.

I nearly think a goalkeeper is of more importance than a midfielder now. Ideally both but a decent keeper and we don't lose that match today. & without a new keeper I think we'll be saying that more often this season.

What gives me a lot of hope for this season is that we now seem to have a balance in attack that's hard for defenses to get set against. Mbeumo was great in the first half and Cunha in the second. Once we get Sesko up and running we'll be a right handful. Shout out to Mount who was the best player on the pitch till he was taken off, really starting to find some form amd suits this system perfectly.

Bruno was an issue today in midfield though. It just doesn't suit him amd the game seemed to pass him by in large parts.

The fact him and Case didn't get run through is a sure sign that the team are finally starting to get used to the system.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

I didn't see enough of him TBH. Don't think he featured a whole pile....but I didn't like what I saw from Ugarte.

For me, Mainoo needs to start staking a claim on a spot. He's out far too often with injuries so that's hampered him a lot. When he gets an opportunity he needs to do better.

Selling Bruno and getting Baleba would have been the ideal scenario.

He seemed to be responding to Luckhurst and to be honest I don't blame him for getting ratty with that guy. He's a condescending posh boy who thinks he knows it all.

He looked seriously pissed off during that very short presser.

Luckhurst is a pr1ck and also I'm quite happy that RA was ratty. We might be happy with a moral victory but he's there to get us winning so if he's p!ssed off at a loss despite playing well, then good
