My TH is that in a few minutes I'm finished work for the week! I have to go for a medical appointment tomorrow but hopefully that will be fine, so I also booked Friday off. And I may take Monday off too, depending on my mood and the weather and everything else in the Universe… 😎 🌞 🍦

I missed the end of Gardeners World last night when visitors called. Sitting down with a coffee and it’s been repeated on BBC now :)

Waking up fresh on a weekend morning and getting out for a coffee before the world wakes. Very therapeutic.

Cashed in my coin shrapnel in one of those sorting machines today and got over sixty quid back after the surcharge! It really didn't look like that much in the bag.

I am now spending some of my windfall on a custard Danish and a very nice coffee 😁

A long time favourite local restaurant closed when the owner retired. It just re-opened recently, food is great. Now being run by his son who’s back from travelling 👏

tucking into my succulent Sunday lunch of spicy corned beef, veg and gravy… doorbell, yesss it’s the courier, one day early with my delivery. Great service and saved about 30% on my purchases too. 😎

Somebody just told me I look like Ragnar Lothbrok.

Had to Google it, I'll take that as a compliment.

knocked over my glass bottle of Calvin Klein aftershave off a four foot tall bookcase in my bedroom onto a wooden floor. I’m expecting to be grabbing cleaning stuff but by way of a large bit of luck the bottle isn’t even cracked let alone broken. Only about a third was left but still. Nice bit of fortune…

I mentioned in the TA thread that I had a 'turn' in Dunnes on Friday that resulted in an ambulance being called for me (but later cancelled). I had been sitting for most of the time (over an hour), on a chair given to me by a security guard.

My TH from the whole situation was that when I eventually stood up to see if I was okay on my feet, the female manager in a surprised way said "Oooh, you are a real man!". I think my height caught her off-guard, and her English wasn't perfect (but better than my Polish) so maybe she didn't quite say what she meant, but I'm taking it as a compliment! 😄

Even though I've seen them all about fifty times, and it gets a fair bit of flak here for all the repeats, I really love Reeling In The Years.

Absolutely terrific TV show. The music matched to the stories, the editing, brilliant. 2007 tonight, so many memories.

Wore an aftershave I haven’t had in forever and still smells as fresh and appealing as ever. Glad I went for it again.

Every year those with bad leaving certificate results, manage to avoid the tv cameras.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Remember back in the day there used to be loads of teenagers bawling their eyes out on results day. Probably still a few about.

Allow me to start with something that could turn me to violence, which is scumbags abandoning kittens left right and centre - we had at least four in the last year, plus three more I found dead. Tiny things.

I spotted the tail and the hind legs of a slip of a thing last week in the garden, as it was running away and disappeared. A couple of days ago, again just the legs and the tail as it was hiding under the iron roof of the ruins of an outbuilding. No chance of catching it.

This morning, as I opened the door to feed the resident/visiting cat, I saw the little one running away and hiding under the car. From there, it climbed up into the engine (terrible idea, kitty). I opened the bonnet, it climbed up and down a couple of time only to end up in a corner by the water tank. So far, so TA.

I had the brilliant idea of trying to catch it with my bare hands, but the kitten turned into a Tasmanian devil, bit me right through a fingernail and clung on, claws spinning in every direction. A doberman would have backed off. Still a major TA, my hands are shredded and my fingertips are still throbbing and sending me shocks on the inside. Thank God my tetanus jab is up to date.

The very, very HAPPY part of this is that I did manage to put him into a cat carrier, and during the day also to feed him, calm him down massively and get him to trust me, to the point that this evening he had turned into a furry bundle of purrs, cuddles and kitty kisses. He even touched my face and my nose with his paws and tried to suckle from my hand. The even happier news is that my neighbour might have already found a home for him.

But if I catch the scumbags that abandoned him... I may just feed them cat litter.

The lunch I was dreading as I was feeling a little fatigued ended up being a thorough success. Delicious food, great company, super service in a familiar local and cosy setting….

Fell into bed last night & didn’t draw the curtains. Woke up early to catch the most beautiful sunshine streaming into my bedroom

The shops have started putting their winter wear 🤗 🤗

It's my favourite time of the year for buying clothes (no thanks colourful crop tops & hoochie mama shorts).

Got loads of stuff over the weekend and I'll be back next week to get what I couldn't carry 😏

Just had a call with a former colleague of mine. Haven't talked to him in ages and it was great to see him again (it was a video call). TH about the call and that I got out of that place when I did. Looks like things are moving from bad to worse at my old job…

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

I had an early hospital appointment yesterday in a local enough town that is two different buses away, so I decided to treat myself to a hotel stay in that town the night beforehand, rather than rush around on a Monday morning to a place I'm not too familiar with.

A very good friend of mine lives there but I rarely get to see him (even though we regularly text) so I used the opportunity to meet up with him for a few hours in his local. 😎

Much better than responding to his normal machinegun-like barrage to texts. (Let me answer the first one before you send two or three more!). It was nice to have an old-fashioned chat in a quiet pub. 😊

found my Dads missing car keys. Which is just as well, as I misplaced them. Replacement smart keys for their car are €375→€400 euros, nutsville seeing its a tiny bit of plastic, metal and a chip, but, relief. 🤪

Went to a popular tourist attraction earlier as had a day off. Fancied some brekky and decided to get the seemingly rather expensive porridge (9.50).

Dude behind the counter filled a bowl of porridge big enough to drown a hippo in and asked what toppings I wanted. I said fruit and honey and he put in all kinds of nice fruit, strawberries, kiwi, raspberries, and layered on the honey. Then as he handed it to me he asked if I wanted a ramikin of honey and a ramikin of banana chips as the fruit he put on was all on the top and the porridge might get boring when I ate it all :)

Walked off with a big fruity honey porridgey tapas selection, class.

    Pretty maps:

I love maps in general but this game (Europa Universalis IV) sometimes lets me make some very pretty ones. I love the purple.
