I think this is a good call, the lad seems like a confidence player and he had absolutely none last year, no preseason on a high profile game a mistake could ruin his season.

Now this is no mentality for a top goalkeeper mind they should be able to bounce back in game but the right call

No matter how the game turns out, if today is the day Onana is pushed out its a great day.

TBF he's probably more likely to be weakly palmed out to a dangerous area than pushed out 😉

Just seen a United fan getting a selfie with Avram Glazer. Whatever you’re into I guess…

Must be in the minority here thinking that theres far worse areas to be fixing than the keeper position. Anyone who's celebrating Bayinder between the posts must have a very short memory. An odd pen save doesn't make him better than Onana

Sesko on the bench. Mount starts.

Cas & Fernandes in the middle. Dalot RWB. No Sesko or Amad.

Gave me hope for 15 minutes until the team sheet came out.

Surprised at a couple of the selections.

Maguire is better at the role that's being asked of than De Ligt.

I probably thought he'd go with Dalot but I'd have preferred Amad.

Bench looks considerably stronger than it did than last season.

I do not like that lineup.

I don't understand the Onana thing at all.

If you think he is too big a liability and needs replaced, then you replace him in the summer. Even if just a stopgap, you get a player in to do a job.

What you don't do is wait all summer, then on the first game of the season announce him fit and then pointedly don't play him. That doesn't make any rational sense at all.

I'll assume he just isn't ready to play, but will still be the number one this season.

I thought Sesko would start but other than that Im not stunned by the team selection.

That's a back 5, park the bus team if ever I seen one. Disappointing team selections, especially after getting it so wrong for the last 8/9 games of last season.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Shocked at that lineup. Just seen Arsenal's team… it's going to be a long afternoon

Casemiro and Bruno in the middle...wow, brave call from Amorim

    Free Palestine 🇵🇸

Sesko straight in would be a big ask for him. We've banished our other striker so I'm happy we haven't thrown Sesko to the wolves like we did his predecessor.

Very notable deficiencies in the lineup with centre midfield, Right wingback, using a false 9 and keeper but for now I still have the new season buzz

At least we have confirmation (if UEL final wasn’t enough) that Amorims wants nothing to do with Ugarte. He is ruthlessly getting rid of our worst players to be fair to him.

Can’t leave him with Casemiro & Bruno as his midfield options all year though. He won’t make Christmas I fear if he is.

Was shocked to see Keith Andrews get the job. Not a good start for him.

Oh it being the daily mail United were likely added to the list to generate clicks. Plus isn't Keegan a bit of a spoofer?

He's not getting taking Yoro's spot at RCB and if money is being splashed on a CB should be looking at a LCB or even a left footer that can play CCB. So long term you'd have the new left footer and Yoro as your CB partnership if the club ever reverts back to a four.

    Underwhelming starting XI.

I hope they prove me wrong.

    Why no Sesko?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,049 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Didn't they both start in midfield when we drew with them at OT last season?

    Shocking line up.

Casemiro and Fernandes will be battered and a change will be made early.

    Amorim really doesn't help himself.

Casemiro and Ugarte in CM, push Fernandes into the false 9 and it looks better.

    Dalot over Amad 🤦🏻‍♂️

Actually, Bruno and Cas are going to struggle massively against Rice, Ødegaard and Zubimendi.

I thought he would have went Ugarte and Casemiro with Bruno as a 10 with one of Cunha and Mbeumo going 9.

But yeah the first thought I got when I saw Ugarte wasn't starting is that's surely RA making it known that Ugarte is only a squad player for him.
