Yeah the DMC games are cringe but usually to the point of being fun-cringe (though the reboot DmC was just cringe-cringe). Gameplay is always a huge amount of fun though, and the cringe is thankfully mostly reserved for cutscenes rather than incessant yapping from the main character as you're playing. Cutscenes are also kept relatively short throughout most of the games.

And if you want power fantasy action game…

    (yes, final line is cringe)

Lies of P is a top tier Soulslike and I'm kind of surprised to see it added to the monthly games. Definitely worth a try and as said above its more accessible than other games in the genre with the difficulty setting.

The easy answer as to why it's on PS Plus now: they have a new DLC to sell. A sequel / DLC is one of the most common reasons for high-profile games to pop up on subscription services.

Some of the comments online when the difficulty options were announced was like they had committed the worst crime possible.

Never tried Bayonetta, not sure why. I possibly missed it because God of War 3 was out around the same time. I probably would have liked it for the stripping main character back in the day at least! And I can't look past the dialogue being cringe, I do need somewhat of a story to motivate me, so skipping isn't something I do. I just accept that some games ain't for me. I don't watch cringe films either. I do eye roll hard in other games that have cringe in parts.

Try mentioning bringing difficulty options into Dark Souls or Elden Ring and you get attacked like you did commit a crime!

Oh I know. Though I don't understand why they'd be against them in the Fromsoft games.

Anyway not the thread for it. I played the demo of Lies of P. Didn't get too far but still want to try the full game so happy to see it here.

I wouldn't oppose difficulty options in Fromsoft games, particularly from an accessibility point of view. I do think you'd lose something by not playing on the intended difficulty if you're able though.

I was put off Souls games for ages because all I heard about was the difficulty, seeing clips of players being knocked off a bridge or just general memes of "You died". Having gotten used to them though, the difficulty is overstated. You'll die a good bit at the start getting used to the game, and then certain bosses will take a while to get used to, but generally if you're careful and smart (don't get cornered, try to separate or bait enemies, look/listen for enemies/traps, generally play knowing every enemy can stunlock and kill you), you'll rarely have too much trouble. At least not to the point of being ready to give up the game because you can't drop the difficulty.

I find the games mostly so well balanced and designed that there's really no need to drop difficulty (well, the actual Fromsoft games, some Soulslikes get the balance wrong and are far more frustrating to play). Depending on your build, some bosses will be really easy, some will give trouble.

Absolutely correct in saying that the difficulty is overstated. All the games can be quite accessible depending on the build/play style. Sekiro is less ideal for that. The introduction of boss summons in Elden Ring made it incredibly easy.

They are just really well made games with combat mechanics that will punish you if you aren't paying attention.

Very much looking forward to Lies of P. I was actually going to buy so the PS Plus version is a bonus.

This month's games are available now for anyone who was waiting for Lies of P.

Or Day Z or My Hero One's Justice 2.

Weird, thought Spidey 2 has been out long enough to be added.

It's decent. Didn't enjoy it as much as the last few, as I really dislike the Kameo system, story wasn't as good and the single player Invasions mode was just awful. Generally though, it looks and plays beautifully with a solid roster.

Gave Sword of the Sea a go, played about an hour of it. It's Journey x Tony Hawks from my play of it. Find it quite meh tbh. Same happened with Journey, didn't get the whole hoo-ha about it.

Having a better time with 3d Stardew Valley Coral Island. But i am sick so simple grindy games probably suit me right now. Good timing!

Shadow drop! From the creators of Dead Cells! And it looks slick. Straight into the PS+ Catalgoue too!
