Mybmi.ie seems really expensive. €109 per month for the consult. I've been on ozempic for a year now and have lost 23kg. I asked my doc to renew my prescription and am waiting for him to call me back. I'm fearful he is going to not renew and tell me that "we'll see how you get on" but I have the absolute fear I'll put back on the weight. I don't even want to lose anymore, just maintain. In the last few months I've only been taking it every 3 weeks or so. I'm on 1mg.

Am I reading mybmi incorrectly? When you hear about people getting it from Northern Ireland, what exactly are they doing!?!?

To get it from NI, you need to get a paper prescription from your GP. You then get in touch with the pharmacy to make sure they take new patients. If they do, you post the paper prescription to them, they'll send you a payment link, you pay and they deliver the meds by DPD.

Boots sell it for around €127. My doc told me to get the 1mg pen off them because with 1 pen it will last a lot longer if using .25mg for 4 weeks and then .5 mg for 4 weeks.

The problem is that the instructions are to use it within six weeks after opening.

Hi I buy mounjaro from my bmi, it may seem expensive but the price stays the same no matter what dose you are on which is not the case in ROI unfortunately. If you sign up you can use a discount code for €20 off and then you can share your code with others and if they use it you will get money off your future orders too, my code is 49020Danielle20free for anyone interested

You can stretch it out even more if you're comfortable with it. I'm about to take my 20th shot this weekend and that will be the end of my third pen. One each of 2.5, 5 and 7.5 mg - I'm 'microdosing' on the last two pens and using the 'golden dose' as well so really stretching it out. Current pen (7.5mg) will be my eighth 5mg dose this weekend (may need to top it up slightly from the next pen, depending on how much is left). Note to get the last dose (or two, depending on what you're doing) out you will need to use a separate syringe and needle to withdraw it as Lilly have gerrymandered the pen not to dispense the last ~0.8ml - I'm damned if I'm chucking that in the bin! It goes without saying that this use falls outside the 'official way' but there is little issue if you're competent (my doctor is aware too).

Am down 70 pounds to 20th June so can't argue with that - although in my case I regard the MJ as being a support to my main intervention of OMAD intermittent fasting. Am just back from 2 weeks holiday abroad so the scales this week may not be so kind…..

I've just got my third pen from Corry's. It's a 15mg pen and I'm now dosing at 9mg per week, or 37 clicks. The pen was €225 including postage. I'll get seven doses out of this pen, if I stay at the same dose and use a syringe to get the last dose out. That's €32 per week. An absolute bargain.

I will have to go back to my GP for another prescription around week 4-5 (so that it's posted up on time and I have another pen ready to go when this runs out), so that will cost €100. But he'll give me a twelve month rather than three month prescription this time, so over the twelve month period that really only adds €2 per week to the cost.

Hi smallgarden. I'm taking Mounjaro, having moved over from Ozempic last March.

A cost saving tip if anyone is going to sign up to mybmi.ie (or through any other provider) but are put off by the cost. If you have health insurance, you can generally claim money back for the consultation if you submit it to your health insurer under GP fees. Also you can claim back 20% of all qualifying medical expenses (Mounjaro is an approved medical expense) through Revenue (you can apply through MyAccount). For me personally, this has reduced my weekly cost of Mounjaro from €63.50 to €38.80!

Also for those who are thinking of signing up to Mybmi.ie,  Use my code, 83022Sally20free ,for €20 off ..and I get a cheeky €20 off too 😉😊

That's interesting with the fees. Normally get 50% back on them. That'd bring that down to €55, which is a lot more palatable.

Only got prescribed last week by my own GP. 6 month script raising the dosage by 2.5mg monthly. Couldn't find anywhere up North that'd deliver (at the moment), so went to my local Boots. €265 for the 2.5mg pen, 100 needles and a sharps bin. The nice lad behind the counter was good enough to tell me the 5mg pen will be €330! Fukk that for a game of soldiers!

    Hey all,

So, here's another experience with coming to a realisation I might be a bit overweight and the mybmi service I used.

I started with 108kg and BMI of 31. Late last year that was a bit higher on 33. Coming to think of it, my BMI hasn't been below 30 in ages, and I genuinely can't remember when was the last time I was even in the vicinity of the "normal" range.

Story is probably similar to everyone. Stressful job, long hours, small kids, obligations etc leading to a not so much unhealthy lifestyle but absolutely always having that feeling of craving to eat more, snack 24/7 and I genuinely couldn't quite control the portion sizes.

Three weeks ago I stumbled upon this thread, so I decided to now share my experiences as well. As always, I went through this thread, reddit, experiences of other folks to understand what's the story here before making any decision. For ease of use I kinda settled with using that online mybmi service. With mybmi service I had a positive experience and their DPD service delivered the mounjaro pen in a chilled package the following day after the consultations. Now, what I was probably expecting was a call about wegovy vs mounjaro or something on that topic to elaborate to me some pros and cons or something in that realm since this was all new and confusing, but there's that 😅

Upon receiving the pen there's one thing I didn't account for: that bloody pen upon priming extends to the moon and you have the feeling you'll be injecting a pint of that stuff into yourself 😂 But in fairness the needle is extremely thin and physically there's almost no way you'll feel the needle going in or even cold/refridgerated medicine being injected.

First week, I "lost" around 4kg, but let's face it, probably 3kg at least was water. However one thing I did notice was that there's no more that craving or urge for a late night snack and unlimited portions of everything and anything. Coming from me living my whole life with that desire/urge of constantly feeling hungry, this was definitely a change. Quite liberating TBF.

Now in my second week, I'm again on roughly 2.5kg which probably again will go down the following week but still the experience so far is positive. Both on the weight scale but also mentally, seeing that I'm progressing down in weight.

One thing that I was reading here and that I'll try to stick to personally:

    • I'm using my thigh for injecting it. Not sure how much sense it makes but the crowd did say that thought worked the best for them
    • My time of injecting this is basically before the bed so even if there was that light nausea or something, I'd be asleep
    • Since my food intake is lower, I do try to take supplement that with multivits, Mg+Zinc and omega 3
    • Likewise, in the morning I'm also taking protein shake just in case to boost my protein intake
    • My food in general improved. I can't explain why or how but I did notice that now I won't be reaching for a overly sugary things or for instance sausages or some other very much fatty food. I did notice someone else mentioned that as well. Still don't understand why or how, but yeah, sugary/fatty stuff wouldn't be my top pick for the past two weeks, so in general my food choices improved.

Anyway, hopefully I'll touch base with you the following week and let's see where it goes. This thread was helpful to me and it brought me here now on my way to hopefully feeling more positive and lead a bit healthier lifestyle.

P.s. The cost of medicine which is around 250-260 with mybmi. You're paying roughly 109 for the consuktation and then 143 for the medicine (regardless of which strength pen that's not the case with our local Irish supply unfortunately. From what I gathered you could claim consultation costs with the VHI, but not with Laya. Of course, this should still be available for 20% tax return at year's end.

However, regardless of that, that is probably not the only cost in this equation if you're going to be taking in the (higher quality) supplements and doing sort of sem-annually/anaully blood/thyroid/something else checks. I'm well aware of that, but.I guess it was time for me to actually try to help myself, my body and hopefully this does work out. It seems like it does so far.

Stay positive guys…well..except on the weighting scale..go negative there 😅

P.s. In case anyone else thinks of using mybmi dot ie service: 20e off is available with the referral code 75851Filip20free

P.p.s.. If there are any question about my experience with all of this, please ask here or drop me a private message.

    Fair play @Fwarder .

I'm like you and started Mounjaro 3 weeks ago, and to say it's a game changer is doing it no disservice. As they say in the trade, the "food noise" is gone. I have to think about eating now as opposed to way I was, which was always thinking about eating! I've lost 5.5kg in the 3 weeks. I don't care whether it's water or fat as long as it's not in me anymore! Gut isn't sticking out as much, which means tshirts fall straighter. Trousers are starting to feel less tight. All that just leads to encouragement to keep going.

I've gotten my first 5mg pen delievered this morning from Erne Pharmacy in Enniskillen. They were mentioned to me by @LastApacheInjun . Not sure if they're taking on new customers at the minute. Sent my private script up to them and all's good. £163 including £30 for chilled overnight delivery. Relative bargain. Have picked up some supplies from UKMedi (suggested by @Padraig Mor) to utilise the Golden Dose. It's strange, but from all my previous weight loss attempts, I'm actually enjoying this one and looking forward to continuing it! A few things that've helped me.

I watch a lot of this guy. Very down to earth. And he mentioned this…

You can adjust the dosages, timings, etc. to see the peaks and troughs of the medicine in your body. So say, for instance, you were getting very hungry on days 5 and 6, you can see where your level is, and maybe increase the frequency of your doses to stay above that and kill the hunger.

Best of luck with the rest of your journey.

Disclaimer: I'm not a medical profeesional, this isn't advice, do your own thing, RTFM, Stokes Kennedy Crowley, etc.

That's disappointing but thanks for the heads up. Looks like i'll be asking my GP for a 6months script on Monday and buying all 6 months before 1st of September and keeping it in the fridge.

    So basically mounjaro is going from 122£ (140-150e) to 330£ a dose (380-400€) a dose. Damn 🤯

I don't think it will be quite that bad, but still significant. In this case, the lower figure is the current trade price (price pharmacy pays) and the higher figure is the new RRP so it's not comparing like with like. One of the UK online pharmacies put their new pricing up last night (can't find link) and I think it was £275 for the highest pens - still a lot but could be worse - and rest Europe prices still a lot higher.

In some ways the rise is hardly surprising - UK prices were WAY less than anywhere else. And if you think Irish pricing (which is similar to the rest of EU I believe) is bad, you should see the US.....

Anyway, just paid for the two remaining 12.5 pens on my script in NI so should hopefully have those soon. Have about 1.5 10mg pens here already and am currently dosing 6.5mg so should be stocked up for six months or so.

What's the odds that, by total coincidence, Ozempic price rises sharply in the coming weeks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 58,508 ✭✭✭✭Necro

My prescription is €144 for four weeks, don't see the benefit in buying from the north or mybmi tbh, GP gives me a six month repeat so don't need to pay a consultation fee with the online crowd every time too. Ozempic now, not mounjaro. Down 17kg since starting so going good guns.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 229 ✭✭Fwarder

I see now on mybmi site that they don't plan to increase the price on 01.09.

." In the meantime, we have no immediate plans to increase our prices in line with theirs on the 1st of September and have plenty of stock available"

Who knows…maybe all of this is the same like Trump's tarrifs: all talk, no show 😅

For all of you with Irish prescriptions and who are using Corry's to get your stuff from NI: how do you do it?

Usually GP is very much adamant on sending prescription to a specific pharmacy. In regard of getting stuff from NI how do you go about it? Email them your prescription?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 771 ✭✭✭glen123

you send it by post but first email a copy to make sure it looks right to them and they ll be happy to take on another new customer from ROI.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 9,657 ✭✭✭Padraig Mor

Note Corry's (and Belcoo I think) are not taking new ROI patients for weight loss injections.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,366 ✭✭✭Soarer

    Or Erne for that matter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 229 ✭✭Fwarder

    not good 😅

Were those three the only three doing this kind of service?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,366 ✭✭✭Soarer

They’re the well known ones. Once it’s known that a pharmacy supplies the ROI, they tend to get swamped.
You could probably put in some donkey work and phone around. I found one that would honour ROI scripts, but they were collection only. They said it was illegal to ship it south of the border.

I contacted both of them back in May and they said they wouldnt accept new customers from the south for delivery of mounjaro but they would for collection but that’s probably changed now,I found a pharmacy in Newry and ive been collecting it from them since May i got a repeat prescription from my doctor and it’s after saving me a lot of money.
