Some rain this morning. Heavy rain looks like it could clip the SE , it’s not in the M.E text fc and I haven’t checked the models but it looks likely to me at least. Edit - in Leinster fc mentions light rain could impact SE this afternoon.

The sun is out in Galway now. 12 stations showing 20 or 21 degrees at 11am

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

A complete system failure in the continental heat shield making the 850 15 degree isotherm breach the country next weekend on the 6z GFS, bringing temperatures into the mid to high twenties.

Rain much further north than forecast, looks like we're gonna get a decent whack shortly down here on the south coast. Not complaining, badly needed!

I would be curious to know what people have thought of Summer 2025 so far. I have only really been in Dublin this Summer and I think its been a very pleasant summer overall. I was away for a bit from late June to early July but overall July was very nice and some really warm weather during it. August so far has been very pleasant too, while it has definitely not been wall to wall blue skies, it has felt like since early July the temperature has gone over 20 degrees on the vast majority of days and most of the summer has been much drier. Kids at camps over recent weeks and only one day where rain was a big issue since 1st half of July. I recall last summer was really disruptive with rain.

Overall the big theme for me is the huge number of days that the temperature has been between 20-23 degrees and in earlier July we had that stretch of very warm weather that got up to about 28 degrees.

How have others felt about the Summer? For me last summer was very poor but I would rate this Summer at about 7 or 8/10. obviously would love blue skies every day but need to be realistic in terms of expectations for Ireland. I would also be curious to know how many days this summer have seen temps of 20 degrees or higher recorded, I would say its been the vast majority. Looking like the week ahead will also see temps from low to mid 20s throughout

I've found the summer not to be terrible by Irish standards, but just like today in Dublin, it seems to be overcast nearly all the time.

Today we've a forecast of 25/26c across a lot of the country. One thing I find amazing is how we sort of take 25c for granted now.

I was 13 in 1989. Around Saturday 17 June 25c was forecast for the following day. It was the first time I recalled seeing a 25c over Ireland in 5 years, since 1984! Think of all the times it hit 25c in the last 5 years.

On 18 June 1989 we actually reached 27c and that June's highest temp was 29c recorded on Monday 19 June.

Warm sunshine in Howth right now. A bit of sea fog but the wind direction keeping it offshore here.

Someone's turned the heating on in this area. Real warmth. Cloudy but the sun is trying.

Highs of 21-23 are nice. Great to be out of the icy 15-18 degrees.

warming climate + cold sea will mean this is the future for Irish summers, cloud.

our only hope for sunshine is an airflow off the continent which is why April- June is sunniest in Ireland, I’d love to have experienced summers like 1947, 1955 and 1959 when the sun actually shone in summer!

The sea fog has gone more offshore now but it was touching the lighthouse at Howth for a little bit and I managed to capture a top down fogbow. Only seen with the drone due to how high the sun is in the sky.

Some heavy pulses of rain making inroads across the SE. Lightning remaining offshore but has gotten closer.

I'd rate this summer as 7.5 or a B in old money. Very enjoyable. If the 2nd half of August is warm and sunny then it's an 8 or B+

I was away for 2 weeks in June which were wet so that might be impacting my perception. There have been some very wet days since but mainly at night or during the working day. Played a lot of golf and rarely used the wetgear. The warmth throughout has been lovely.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

By Irish standards it's been a good summer — in the East at least.

By my count, 38 days have got above 20º at Dublin Airport already, with at least another 10 to go. This is well above the LTA. The nights have generally been quite mild too.

The June average high was 19.2º — around 2º above what, until recently, would have been considered the average daily high. The July average max temp was almost 21º.

The past 10 days or so have been quite dull. But June and July were actually close to normal sunshine wise in the East.

Yet to see it here today but that's how today was forecast for Dublin

Looking at the radar you'd think it has been lashing rain for the past couple of hours in Co. Wexford. But in reality very little is making it to the ground, a few drops here and there, barely enough to wet the ground. At least in my part near Enniscorthy

Was a bright morning with some blue sky. Heavy shower now. Boooo. Humid.

We ended up getting 3mm here in the space of a couple of hours. Should help freshen the place up a bit.
