Trump is going to tank our economy and possibly solve our housing crisis within 12 months

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,824 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

our housing issues will carry into the 30's, and possible into the 40's, due to its significant and fundamental flaws, its far more complex than just our population, i.e. reducing our population will not resolve our housing issues, but will although relieve some of the issues, the reduction in economic activity will more or less cancel out gains made by population reduction

How so? If the economy tanks, banks won't be in a position to lend to anyone.

Comical Ali seems an understatement. This is literal North Korea style of propaganda, right down to the 'President Trump just won several golf tournaments in a row' bullshit.

    This is absolutely ludicrous
"We have secret numbers from the census that nobody else can see but us, but they show that Trump is winning and Biden is Failing'

Its total fabrication, propaganda of the absolute worst kind.

This may play well with the MAGA crowd, but even some of them cannot be so dumb not to see the 6 month wait for this secret data as just another Trump snowjob. Especially considering the source.

Who are not going to be fooled is any company Trump is attempting to coerce into moving their operations to the U.S. Any chance of them doing so would require independent verifiiable data and Trump`s little tantrum last week on job figures blew that out of the water.

When I say "Eat the Tariffs", I mean wade out it's knock on effects for a particular country.

Because Irish butter will have a 15% extra tariff over English butter, it will disadvantage for example Kerrygold butter over Anchor UK butter.

Or it will favour Scotch Whisky over Irish Whiskey. If American importers ignore Kerrygold and Jameson because the UK counterparts are cheaper to import, this is a problem for Ireland.

But the point I am making is if every country ignored Trumps tariffs and introduced their own, this would be a huge problem for Trump.

The last thing you want to do with Trump is to roll over like a whimpering puppy because he is a masochist and likes nothing better than to see Carney and von der Leyen dance around like puppets in the Oval office.

As far as the "commitments" from companies to move back to the US , all you need to do is look at the Apple factory they promised to build during his 1st administration to get him off their back 8 years ago that is STILL not operational and isn't building anything that's going to be for sale in the US when it's finally (if ever) finished.

They will spend money to kick the can down the road and keep him off their backs.

Buy a bit of land , dig a few holes , spend a bit of money on planning and design , but NOTHING substantive will move anywhere.

He said they have access data to unpublished census data but the last US census was in 2020?

Anyone that gives out data that doesn't suit Trump's rhetoric is facing getting sacked,, how could we believe anything from the US.

**** me, it’s like something out of Curb Your Enthusiasm 😂

Did the numbers just come out? Might have missed him saying that.

So some of that data may be correct, but its telling a story with no context.

For the start of Trumps presidency he'd inherited a booming US economy and he pretty much had some "adults in the room". So he just had to maintain to show growth, hence the upward lines. Those tanked really hard around Covid at the end of Trumps term.

Biden inherited the economy in the midst of that downward line from Trumps chart. They pumped in money to the US economy because it was in a sh1tsh0w.

He also was president in an era of massive global inflationary pressures. Everyone in the world's household income basically took a hit. If you start from a point of the economy in a bad position and have massive inflation around the world it will of course not be an aggressive upward chart.

In essence its probably using real numbers in a deliberately deceptive way to hide the fact that there are poor numbers coming out from in Trumps 2nd term

Suprised he's not be calling it Biden's economy!

But getting back to those biggly charts, all bar one was comparing Trump's first term to Biden's. I mean wtf.... The latest jobs report (which triggered Trump) is from this term, the present, not 2 terms ago ffs.

The next jobs figures released by Trump’s new appointment will show new created jobs are the biggest ever

Tariffs are a local tax applied at point of import. It's a US tax on US importers.

    Firms don't have to pay.

They could choose to "eat" tariffs but that means lower profits unless they increase the price to other countries. And I'm sick and tired of subsidising US insurance costs so the thought of subsidising goods sold to the US would make me choose firms that haven't done that.

Even complex things like cars only have margins of around 5%. Better marques might get to 7.5%

Long time lurker here, don't know enough about politics to contribute. A question I would have watching all this is, are we seeing the fall of for use of a better word the American Empire?

Empires through history have all risen and fallen and I would think these Empires didn't just fall overnight but declined for years before the slide was unavoidable. America seems to be sliding for the last 30 to 40 years now and Trump like Nero seems to be fiddling while Rome burns.

Has Trump done so much damage already that America is going to slide further and further down for the next few decades and how low?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,824 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

yea theyre screwed, he ll spin so many lies, that most americans wont accept, folks such as him are actually the problem

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,917 ✭✭✭scottser

There's a way to go yet before that 'empire' collapses. Save your popcorn until Trump retires or dies because the MAGA/Republican/P2025 crowds will begin to eat each other; there are too many diverse beliefs for them to be unified by anything other than Trump's cult of personality. There'll be a civil war or a couple of states will secede from the Union before it all goes tits up, probably over things like banning women or immigrants from voting altogether. As for foreign influence, the whole world, including their allies, are moving away from the US and those nations usually kept in check like Russia, Iran etc are now openly laughing at him.

By all means, help the process along by not buying or using US products and services if possible.

Just apply this to any figure from now on. This will also impact the markets, it is one thing to have bad numbers, it is another to have totally fabricated ones.

India is equally pi**ed because Pakistan is trolling them, pointing out they did a quick deal with Trump that got them minimal tariffs.

So a Muslim country with ties to Iran and China, got a deal over India that has dealt with the US for military hardware. India (and Indians on twitter/Reddit) is raging.

Quick question what does everyone think the state of play would be in Gaza if the Democrats got it ???I personally think that there would have been push back on Israel and they wouldn’t have gone as far as this.. I don’t think enough has been said about this and really shows how utterly inept the current administration is ..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,412 ✭✭✭Field east

this idea of the/some Arab, and I assume Muslim states , will take over the running of Gaza, or/ and the West Bank or and Jerusalem is OF THE WALL. The fact that none of the GULF States plus others such as Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt did not have ANY SCHEME to take in even ONE Palestinian refugee says it all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,007 ✭✭✭yagan

In ways the Dems seem more beholden to the Zionists judging by bidens "iron clad support".

The republicans are more likely to include red neck Christian fundi types who are susceptible to "they killed Jesus" reactionaries.

It's interesting that the that loon conspiracist Marjorie Taylor Green has been outrightly critical of US support for Israel.
