Ideally, the club should be refusing to sell to another EPL club, but they just need the money now. Hopefully can invest in a number 6. Probably would have been plenty of options for him, had he not acted like an entitled little pri*k so often.

Hopefully Sesko hits the ground running. He seems a good lad too. Saw this Q@A with him on YouTube

Guessing we'll get about £20M maybe add in a decent sell on for when they make a profit on him in a couple of years.

The lads in charge are definitely Football Manager players, no two ways about it.

Plettenburg reporting that Sesko earning less than he would have at Newcastle and his agent has given up a significant portion of their commission to get the deal through.

Flying at 5pm, due to be unvieled at OT on Saturday apparently. Don't think he'll start vs Arsenal, reckon Amorim will give him a few weeks to get up to speed.

Chelsea really don't need him though, they're stacked in his position, so I think they only buy if they get him for a great place since United just want rid of him. I kinda doubt they spend more than 40m. Wouldn't be surprised by a loan with option to buy (and maybe penalty clause like Sancho last year).

Garnacho 45m, Sancho 17m, Anthony 30m, Malacia 3m? There or there about 95m. Enough for Baleba?

I'm guessing there will be a sponsorship announcement to go with the re-opening of Carrington tomorrow which will explain how the club are funding the rebuild.

With Onana injured I can't see us getting rid of him this year, but can see Bayindir leaving so a move for a new keeper, leaving Onana back up (encouraging him to leave next year), isn't that far fetched the way the summer is going.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 379 ✭✭Seattle

I think a loan with an option to buy is very unlikely because Garnacho is on only £50k/week and is really overdue a new contract to reflect his current level. He wants Chelsea because he'll have discussed wages with them no doubt.

Chelsea won't be the only club interested in him, but according to Ornstein it's the only place he wants to go.

Ideally you'd love to see Garnacho to Chelsea for 50m, with 20m up front and 10m over the three next windows. It would knock a fair chunk off the money due to Wolves in the Cunha deal over those years as well, which would not help too much in terms of transfer fee's but would still counteract act the longevity of it over the years.

I think we'll be lucky to get 40m for him, but I'd take it too. I also don't think he has the discipline to become a top player, nor the quality. He does get into good positions, but he's not a great finisher, not physically strong, not the fastest (but nippy all the same), and isn't good in the air. He's limited. I think at best you'll get two seasons out of him where he performs at his best before his candle burns out and he finishes up in Italy or mid-table Spanish team, but his best won't be world class. Given that, now would be the ideal time to sell and 40m plus would be savage for us right now.

Arrange a friendly in Saudi and leave him there

Yeah 100% I think they'll hold our feet to the fire in terms of a low fee, but I think we've shown in the last few years (by the £20m in fees this summer) that we'll stick in some clauses re sell on or achievables to soften the blow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,837 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Yeah the whole penalty clause was because Sancho was a greedy fucker. The loan would have collapsed and not happened at all because Chelsea couldn't agree a contract with Sancho. They'd have no issues agreeing a contract with Garnacho. He'll likely get a pay rise and a 7 year deal at Chelsea.

There has definitely been a change in the direction of the club actually being nice and giving back what the fans want. I like this club again, nice touch.

    He's on his way...

Also West Ham have signed Hermansen from Leicester for £18m. They seemingly pulled the plug on the John Victor deal while he was at the airport waiting to travel!

I completely misread your post... No way he was valued at 30m as a 17 year old… 🥴

I might end up regretting saying this but if you look at Man Utd and Newcastle and think about the longer term of 3/4 seasons then you are far more likely to win trophies at Utd.

Not only that but you would expect that Utd will have played in the CL more than Newcastle over that time period as well.

Newcastle have no history of challenging at that level. Whereas as a player you know Utd have the means. It's just if you believe the current crop in charge can turn those means into actual success.

Newcastle might have been a better team last season but they are currently fighting to try and keep their best player out of the reaches of a PL rival. That's their level still.

As much as Newcastle fans want it to be true the fact is they are still a million miles off the very top clubs. Money or not.

Players will go there as a stepping stone to a bigger club so long as no bigger club comes in for them.

If Newcastle start challenging for and winning the bigger trophies then players will become more interested naturally.

    It's that simple

looking at last years table, i think we should be expecting a top 4 challenge. we need to score about 25 more goals, and concede about 12 less to be on par with 2nd - 5th last season.

is that doable? i think so for the following reasons:

    1. no european football this season…more time on the training ground and time to work on tactical plans for the next game.

    2. european football last season meant the last ~10 PL were 2nd priority resulting in worse results. n/a this season.

    3. amorim will have had a full pre-season to coach the players how he wants them to play (plus 6 months last season).

    4. the additions of sesko, cunha, mbuemo for their goals.

    5. the above additions should also mean we are better able to control a game, retain possession, hold up the ball, etc. this will lead less turnovers conceded and more high turnover won. both should contribute to the GD.

    6. and another one. the team morale should be way better this season.

a dream to see United start the season with Baleba in midfield, and Cunha and Mbuemo behind Sesko in the lineup

Is there a place for Bruno there? Most analysts seem to be putting him alongside Baleba (assuming he comes) in the middle of the 4 but would that be overcompensating for the shortcomings up front last season? My thought was he an Cunha would be twin no. 10s and Mbuemo utility attacking sub…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,837 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

I doubt all that money was spent on Mbeumo to be a sub. Bruno will drop deeper in midfield.

I'm not convinced that lineup gives you enough defensive cover against the top sides but no doubt we'll learn more against Arsenal Sunday week.

Absolutely perfect summer for United if they brought a world-class keeper in and got rid of Ugarte.

    Here’s hoping

This summer transfer windows stands out, and for good reason. These top talent actively choosing United despite the lack of Champions League football or the uncertainty surrounding the club.

No mercenaries, just players that always wanted to play for utd.

This is one of my favorite transfer windows ever

A cheeky bid to Newcastle for Tonali to really piss them off. He would be a great addition

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,949 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

And they're not coming because they're being paid £300k+, it's because they want to play for this club and this manager.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,381 ✭✭✭✭JRant

The Garnacho stuff is mad because he has no hand to play here. He thinks he can force a move on the cheap but with his wages the club can afford to just leave him here until January. Plus, going to a team that are stacked with wide players is career suicide.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"
