More of a chance of me winning the lotto, it's more like 25% worse off

This keeper will constantly let us down and our defense will suffer

There's negative about all things football these days it's getting insane year by year but at the end of the day we all wanted owners to show some kind of desire and ambition and to back a manager properly with players that make sense to his system.

That's exactly what we are getting. Any one that did a proper analysis last year said the most important roles in an Amorim setup are the number 10s. We have addressed that and then some.

If we don't sign a decent midfielder I'll eat my hat

I reckon we're sounding out Baleba but the chances of getting him are very slim. But we'll hopefully move on quickly to a plan B and I am confident that we'll bring in a midfielder.

Don't think Onana is going anywhere though so I don't see us getting a first choice keeper. Best hope is to bring in a decent second choice and hope that he can push/unseat Onana.

I don't think they gonna sound him out unless there's a chance to get him. It's putting them in a higher priced bracket of midfielder they shopping for if they can't pull it off and go looking elsewhere.

I think it's a case of sounding him out and he can be got for a decent price then go for it. If not this season they can then show him we wanted you last season and put themselves in pole position.

I say Baleba has given an indication that he would like to join otherwise I cant imagine United would be going public. Unless its a smoke screen for someone else 🤔

Bring him out in a Newcastle shirt first for the craic and swap it with the new third kit in the centre circle.

Games against Newcastle gonna be ever spicier than normal this year 🤣

Amazing he picked United over a club that won league Cup and their first trophy in over 50 years

I don't doubt that Baleba wants it, or that we want him.

But I just think it's too complicated a deal with too crafty a club for me to have a high confidence on it.

    I'd love to be wrong.

I'm guessing even Ant and Dec on an open top bus couldnt even sell it to him.

I don't think Onana moves until he is replaced and then his ego will want out pronto, until the new #1 arrives he'll believe hes safe.

    Good to see it done.

Shocked when I saw the Baleba news last night. If you asked me at the start of the summer would we have any chance of getting him then I'd have said zero change. But there is a weird momentum behind us in the transfer market this summer so I won't rule it out yet.

Ornstein now reporting that Chelsea are onto us for Garnacho. Hopefully can get 40+ sterling for him.

You would hope £50m min when your looking at the price of some players these days

While talking about keepers PSG actually are pushing ahead with signing Chevalier for 40m+.

They supposedly asked for 30m for Donnarumma, there's not many clubs outside of us looking for a new 1st choice keeper......we couldn't......could we?

I don't get what the compicated part of it would be.
Expensive, yeah - I can certainly see that. But IMO it will be pretty straight forward. You pay the fee or close to it or you don't get him. I don't think Brighton are a particularly crafty or nasty club to deal with. they won't be messing about with moving targets on the fees etc.

IMO if Brighton say they want 115 for him, it won't happen. I think United have to assume it will be 80+, and probably closer to 90 or more. If Brighton will do a deal around that, I think it gets done.

My fear is actually other clubs (Liverpool specifically) coming in for him - and I think if we wait til next summer to try get him Liverpool will be certain to be in for him then. I think that is a big part of the reason we are trying to make it happen now, because it will be even harder to get him next summer.

Yeah you look at goals scored and conceded by teams last season you had Newcastle in 5th only conceding 7 goals less. Chelsea and Man City were 11 and 10 goals less than us. The major difference being those teams scored +20 more goals than us.

And even when we lost the Newcastle and Wolves games either side of the 5-4 win over Lyon we were something like 6th in the table for goals conceded but 16th for goals scored. Losing focus after the 3-0 win in Bilbao say us drop from 6th to 10th in that table.

Long term Onana needs to be replaced, heck I'd have loved for it to already be done and hopefully it's definitely done next summer but one more season with him isn't going to be the end of the world the way some are predicting.

Our new front three along with hopefully improving our scoring output should hopefully make us better at defending from the front. Taking some pressure off the midfield CMs behind the front three and even Amad will be an improvement in that from the RWB over Dalot and Maz.

Would just love if we could at least replace Bayindir this summer because he makes Onana look good and that's saying something.

not at 30m, for a guy that will be on big wages, in his last year.
a nominal fee? maybe. But I think without getting Onana out the door we don't spend big wages on a keeper.

As I said to Phil I don't think Onana moves before he is replaced.

Absolutely - Madueke and Elanga went for similar prices and Garnacho looks to have a higher ceiling in terms of potential than either of them.

If he is done tomorrow, then do we potentially see him in the squad for Sat?

Not sure where his fitness is at but he was training as per normal until last couple of days I think.

As much as his higher potential should increase his value, his past attitude problems and current "persona non grata" decreases it.

Muppetiers saying Anthony in talks with Benfica & is open to the move

I wonder what the parameters of a deal with Chelsea for Garnacho are?

£40-50m is at the low end of his market value imo, I don't really like it. I wonder if we'll try to insert some clauses with ambitious add ons in case he goes on to be a world class star there (which I suspect he may do).

Casado was fantastic last season. I cannot honestly see them letting him go.

If they can afford Rashford's exorbitant salary, they can surely afford to keep Casado.

Bringing in proven Premier League forward players like Mbeumo and Cunha has undoubtedly given the squad a boost. Bringing in Sesko would likely bring in a good few goals as well, and would be very welcome given our current strike force. Baleba coming in as well, well that would be lovely, we need a physical and robust presence in the midfield that Amorim plays, and we don't have that right now, he'd be the right job, and Premier League proven again.

So Cunha and Mbuemo confirmed, hopefully Sesko to finalised, and the remote possibility of Baleba? I think INEOS have done more than enough to warrant severe criticism of how they've operated to date, and the mess they helped leave the club with in keeping Ten Hag on when it was clear he was needed to go, but pull off those four as a summer transfer window, then you'd have to tip the hat to them.

It wouldn't just be a good window, it would be finally the club showing real intention and ambition. And I think we can all get behind that, regardless of what INEOS have done in the past.

But it still doesn't guarantee that things will improve. That will be down to Amorim. If, even with those signings, we end with up 4/5 points a goal difference of -6/7/8 after 7 games, the form of last season under him, then Amorim has to go, no questions asked.

While it would be a dream to see United start the season with Baleba in midfield, and Cunha and Mbuemo behind Sesko in the lineup, there would absolutely to excuse for a poor start with those in the team.

Amorim being there at Halloween, never mind Christmas, won't be down to INEOS having a good transfer window, it'll be down to Amorim actually doing something he has failed spectacularly to do so far; get results and have us compete for the European places. Continue the form of last year, and the transfers in or out won't matter, Amorim will get the bullet. He has no excuses left, and certainly not with a revamped front three.

There's plenty of reason for optimism with Cunha, Mbuemo and (looks done) Sesko, in the squad. Baleba is unlikely, but would certainly increase the optimism if he arrived (or if not him, another robust CM). And while for once it's great to see optimism, at the same time, last season has shown enough to be very, very wary about getting your hopes up too much. We could start well and challenge for top 4 with a bit of luck. Or we could lose 5/6 of your first 7/8 games and sack the manager. One is as likely as the other at the moment.

It looks as though INEOS are doing their job this summer, now it's up to Amorim to do his job. I think that'll be the line United fans will be following the next few weeks.
