Looks like the ones in Banbridge

Yep, it's the Fastned charging station in Banbridge. Awesome station! 12x CCS + 2x chademo over 6x400kW units.

Ive been in it once, its seriously impressive. Covered which is unusual, the covers are actually solar panels.

Wonder when we will get one in Republic.

    Thank you for the info.

Aaah no I guess I didn’t make it clear. I was experimenting to see what I could get out of the car. I won’t be driving around at 20km with no AC or radio normally.

    Thanks again.

I broke the 10k barrier yesterday in mine too!

I have a daily commute that is bang-on 25kms each way and I've done plenty of runs to and from Dublin from the airport and a few big runs to Donegal and Derry with zero issues experienced at all.

Luckily I'm charging in work for free for the vast majority of my needs. A 15 minute stop in Kinnegad/Donegal Town does the job then on longer return trips.

Anyone know what the three bolts sticking up out of the floor are for? Under the drivers seat.

    Just noticed when vacuuming.

Google - Hyundai says they are ‘retaining studs’

There is a recall (30 July) for models sold in Australia to fix a ‘missing safety cap’ issue. A Facebook forum states these 3 ‘bolts’ are mounting points for the 360° camera hardware located under the driver’s seat, and for lower spec models without the 360 feature the bolts are left exposed and should have protective caps fitted. Do yours feel ‘sharp’?

    IMG_8792.jpeg

    Recall (Google AI):

The Hyundai Inster has a recall related to the driver's seat due to sharp retaining studs that may cause injury if someone reaches under the seat. The issue stems from a manufacturing defect where the retaining studs might not have a safety cap, leaving exposed, sharp edges. Here's a more detailed explanation:

    • The Problem:The Hyundai Inster is being recalled because the retaining studs under the driver's seat may not have a safety cap, leaving sharp edges exposed.
    • The Risk:These exposed edges can cut or injure anyone reaching under the driver's seat.
    • The Solution:Hyundai is recalling the vehicles to address this issue by installing the missing safety caps.

They would definitely cut you if you reached in unawares. I will email Hyundai. I believe there is a recall in Korea too.

I have the top spec Hyundai so I wonder what’s topper than that.

since posting I went and checked mine from the rear seat with a torch and, yes, exactly as shown in the photo - exposed ‘retaining studs’ and

no safety caps. So I ran my fingers over them

    • the studs have screw threads (for nuts to secure the 360 control unit)
    • the nuts are fully painted (a light grey/off white)
    • they are quite smooth, no ‘sharp edges’ as reported in the recall notice

The only possible risk of injury I can see is if a bare-footed rear passenger (eg a child) shoved their feet under the driver’s seat and ‘stabbed’ themselves on one of these studs. Would be interesting if other members find the same with their cars?

my comment above got posted by mistake before I’d finished ‘proof reading’ and now it seems to be corrupted (won’t allow editing)

    the final para should read:

“The only possible risk of injury I can see in addition to the one raised by @mustyrocks is if a bare-footed rear passenger (eg a child) shoved their feet under the driver’s seat and ‘stabbed’ themselves on one of these studs. Would be interesting if other members find the same with their cars?”

Is there a way to remove or fix the flappy floor bits (used for when the rear seats are flat) so that they're not in the way when you take out the 'floor' from the boot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,286 ✭✭✭Meesared

I've seen people use adhesive velcro strips to hold them to the back of the seats

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,102 ✭✭✭cobham

What am I doing wrong? I am trying to charge car from Zappi as decent solar today ahead of storm. But it is 'waiting for surplus' and excess is going to grid. I have turned off the Eddi as it is hot enough and will be using less water over weekend with water cut off. Does Eddi have to be 'on'? I have setting for car 'eco plus' mode.

Think sorted! had to reboot Zappi by holding down menu button for couple of seconds. Working away fine now.

I think there's a minimum the car would charge with. 1.4kW I reckon… Try looking this up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,102 ✭✭✭cobham

I had to reboot the Zappi second time …

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,102 ✭✭✭cobham

Only third time charging car and it is in a different position to other times. Maybe line of communication to modem is not so good with more solid walls to go thru?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 150 ✭✭EV01

no need to remove the ‘flappy floor bits’, just lift up the first boot floor, attach the hook to the head restraint mount (as shown), then move the back seats forward a little and adjust the backrests into a slightly more upright position (gently so as not to strain the hook +cord!).

As you can see this creates a much deeper boot space with the floor cover now vertical and holding the flappy things neatly out of the way - and there’s still decent room in the back for me at 6’1” (sitting ‘behind myself’). Maybe more leg space/comfort than the back of a R5?

    the (useless?) ‘Privacy Cover’

forgot to say that this fits perfectly in the small space created under the ‘flappy floor things’ by the above configuration

So perfectly that it must have been specifically designed by Hyundai engineers to allow this

the attention to detail on this car continues to surprise +delight

in case folks don’t realise you can take the privacy cover off and it slots into the back seats for storage. Gives more head space in the boot without much change. I see people moving stuff into the wheel arch too so might try that at some point too.

What hook/strap are you using to hold the floor cover to the headrest?

The hook is at the rear of the boot floor cover…. it can clip to headrest of back seat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38 mustyrocks

I actually saw that on the first day I got it but completely forgot. Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 150 ✭✭EV01

yes the handbook does indeed confirm this but the AI translation is not very helpful ☹️

I’ve just had another look and found that if you move both back seats forward slightly, the ‘cover’ ends then drop neatly into the cutaways either side, and if you then push the seats back again the ‘cover’ is firmly held in place - a perfect fit!

what this flexibility demonstrates is that the Inster offers a quite incredible range of ‘boot/luggage options’, so the question isn’t ‘what can it do?’ rather ‘what do you want it to do?’🤣

Oh, that’s a clever solution! I used to just take the cover off and leave it at home, but your method looks way more practical.

July numbers, the Inster doubled in number of registrations from 400 to 799 in just one month, moving the inster to the place 37th up from the 63rd most sold car in 2025. I hope everyone is enjoying their car :)

I feel like I'm bumping into them more over the last 2 weeks (or maybe it's the same two black and khaki green Insters I keep meeting 😁). Cross paths with a black Inster earlier. Gave a wave, got one back 🤩 #insterbuddies

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38 mustyrocks

Same here. Saw my first Inster a few months ago, a black one that got me interested in buying one. Since we got our black one I see the same one, plus a white one at my gym and a khaki around town. Always have shared waves.
I thought I would have some folks doing the kind of macho male “how can you drive that little thing” comments but so far every person who has seen it and especially sat in it, loves it.

My friend 3D printed a cover for the Driver Monitoring System. I can confirm that it works 100%.

When the cover is fitted, you will get a warning shortly after driving for a few seconds. A small warning triangle will remain on the screen, but I can live with that.

Ok so bear with me here. A couple of things…

Does the triangle not annoy the heck out of you?

Does this not prevent the hands on steering wheel check from turning off when it comes on?

Theory? Could an insurance company make a claim that you were not in control of the car as the car diagnostics might show that you were not looking out the window for the whole drive?

    Not at all.

Does this not prevent the hands on steering wheel check from turning off when it comes on?

No idea, I usually have hands on the wheel.

    Dont know!

I see online via Ai that you can turn off the eye tracking in the settings..

Yes, you can, but it resets back on every time you restart.
