Have the drones stopped flying, haven't heard or seen any all weekend, thank God.

A number flew over or near my house yesterday (Sunday). They would have been from the Blanch Centre base.

I haven't noticed any today (Monday) but that is not a surprise considering the gusty winds.

I think that the Junction 6 base might have been closed due to a planning enforcement.

anyone attempt to shot them down yet?

I got a leaflet through the door over the weekend about an action group opposing the drones in the area.

Have to say I don't mind them, can be loud for a minute if they're delivering to a house nearby but don't notice them flying over most of the time.

    The drones are polarising.

Councillor John Walsh has been drumming up opposition to them. Manna responded by delivering a letter of support (of the company), signed by 400 residents, to councillors.

I work from home a lot and they go over regularly throughout the day. Bit of noise for a few seconds as they're going by, no worse than a motorbike or lawnmower, and then it's done with. I think a lot of those complaining about them are just happy they have something new to complain about.

There's so much vehicle traffic (=noise) on the road near me that I can only see the drones, not hear them. Maybe the people who are opposed to them live in a nicer area than me.

On the other hand, I'm not particularly convinced the drones serve any useful purpose, apart from being a gimmicky way to do deliveries. At the moment they don't bother me at all, but some regulations or restrictions are necessary - otherwise we'll have drone swarms all over the area.

I don't mind them (for now), give me these over a Honda 50 any day! If I was to use them, my issue would be the height they're dropped from. Noway a drink is surviving that?! The string that is released is left for you to tidy up too.

They say the string can be composted.

The package is not "dropped" but let down onto the ground. With coffee being the most popular delivery, the drinks must be surviving, otherwise people would stop ordering them (one of my neighbours seems to get a delivery every morning around 9am, which I would expect includes coffee).

there’s a good bit of regulation in relation to flying one, all but the very small ones need to be registered and the pilots accredited with the IAA, lots of rules, you need to be so far from house or people, etc etc, I’d guess most hobby ones are operating illegally which attracts big fines if caught.

Happy days so. I've just witnessed the one delivery to the next door neighbour. Package landed on some rockery and fell over. The string was left draped over their tree.

otherwise we'll have drone swarms all over the area.

Yeah that's my main concern. At the moment, the number of places you can actually order from is very limited, but if more and more operators get involved, it could get out of hand very quickly.

I find them annoying but nothing that really impacts my daily life, that would change very rapidly if the numbers flying overhead increased significantly.

They seem to be flying again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,729 ✭✭✭RoryMac

They never stopped, saw plenty over the weekend and the last few days.

Presumably couldn't operate during Storm Floris but I'd say that was all it was

Did the army get rid of them Bofors L70 anti aircraft guns?

Seriously there is anti drone technology for bringing them down from disrupting signal to anti-drone drones with capture nets.

The rest of Dublin is envious that D15 has these drone delivers. It's good for the area.

    Can the moaners go away.
