Pixel 10 series - P10 / P10 Pro / P10 Pro XL / P10 Pro Fold

Pricing has been revealed for Europe for the upcoming Pixel 10 series.

After the large-ish increases that came with the P9 series, Google appear to be effectively maintaining current prices. The notable exception is the P10 Pro XL, which seems wont be available with base 128GB. These prices dont exactly align with Irish prices at launch from memery, but not far off.

All reports so far indicate it is likely an incremental upgrade over the 9 Series, with the Tensor G5 bringing the biggest improvements.

I would be tempted if the new chip is any good

What are the prelaunch offers generally like - would it be best to get then or wait a few months

Last year's offers weren't great. For the 8 Pro they gave a Pixel Watch.

I'm probably spoiled from Samsung launches

They send out a code pre launch - usually 10%

This doesn't sound like a thing that google do

Yep. Other country stores have a landing page and subscriber offer, like the UK one:

The Irish store never seems to have these promos.

This seems to be the launch offer, an AI sub again this year. Of zero interest to me so won't be a buyer but maybe of use to some people.

    Worth $239. Sure Google, sure.

Its a Google One plan - Essentially almost same plan as last year. Plan benefits can also be shared used across anyone in your Google family.

    https://one.google.com/intl/en_ie/about/?hl=en-IE

Started using Gemini over last 6 months and now its my go to when ever I need to know something. AI is happening so I figure get on the train or end up a luddite to my kids.

This plus all my household all use Pixels, so this is definitely worth it in our case. .

Would I purchase if it wasnt offered - no. Glad to definitely get it again but I think I'll be in the minority here.

Edit: seems it aso gives a 15% discount off an individual YouTube premium plan.

Are there any student discount schemes for Google?

For buying a pixel? For storage or for ai?

This looks like yet another underwhelming launch from Google after last year's anticlimax 9 launch. Also another 'free AI subscription' and no free headphones or watch for a phone that is identical to last year's model aside from the new processor? That's fairly crap from Google. I can't see many upgrade from the 8 or 9 models to the 10 at this rate.

Its a strange one. For anyone on the standard 8 or 9 its actually a camera downgrade to move to the 10, so I would imagine very very few will. The 10Pro has the same camera as the 8Pro/9Pro at least so is just down to how much better the chip performs, which for most people in the real world will be a pretty marginal difference it looks like.

Buying a Pixel. I've a Unidays account that I was able to reactivate on a old student email address. Also have access to a UK address if it works on their store.

    You're buying a phone here?

While disappointing the days of free Bose headphones or a new smartwatch are gone this is what happens when a company gains market share. There's no need anymore, it's a bit mad to expect it.

Just pick the phone up at Christmas for a couple €100 less if you don't need a phone immediately and buy your headphones or the watch separate

What time does the pre sale offers come out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,236 ✭✭✭wassie

The Google Pixel 10 launch event, "Made by Google", is at 6pm tonight so I would expect it around that time.

It used to be a €900 phone with a free watch or headphones though, now it's a €1300 phone with neither.

The 9 Pro XL can be had from €839 at Harvey Norman, even still comes with that AI subscription if that's your thing. That would be getting my vote over the 10 at full price based on the leaks.

Strange how there's no mention of it on the Irish store but if I switch to Germany I see this.

You'd never think Google had their European hq in Dublin!

Pre orders are up. Gemini ai is the bonus.

Edit: being offered €487 for a trade in of a Pixel 8.

Vodafone have the 10 Pro in 128GB up for €999 on prepay so €120 cheaper than Google Direct. Will be interesting to see if they do a trade in boost in the next few days.

What are they like with trade ins for broken phones - if I tick "no" to is your device in good condition - will they be picky as long as it turns on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 828 ✭✭✭Phat Cat

Google doing a trade in of €777 on last year 9 Pro XL 256GB

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,876 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

have Pixel 7 that battery end of it's life.

get 353 trade in for Pixel 10 bringing it down to 566 from 919

403 against Pro bringing it down to 716 from 1119

will probably wait a week or so for more detailed reviews, wondering if P9 Pro better option

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,236 ✭✭✭wassie

The days of the amazing promo offers are officially over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,060 ✭✭✭beardo81

Trade in deals aren't bad, 5-600 for my P8P against the various models.

I seem to remember though last year they dropped the price by €1-200 and gave good trade in offers too around 6-8 weeks after launch. So may be worth waiting

I have a grey import pixel 6 that I bought from a reseller on adverts brand new. Any issues trading in a phone that wasn't originally intended for the Irish market?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭J_R

    Google store, getting €360 for a Pixel 6 against a 10 Pro 256 GB

    Delivery 28th - 29 Aug

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,236 ✭✭✭wassie

Yeah, problem atm is whilst offering good trade in prices, the purchase price is more expensive.

Eg Pro XL on Google is €1319, while Vodafone is €1149.

As you say may be worth holding off.

I usually do the Samsung pre launch every year . Looking at pixel for first time

The s25 Ultra worked out about €200 cheaper than pro XL on this offer

Is there anything in the new Pixel that can help me justify the extra cost /switch

The Pixel launch offer doesn't look great
